A Flourishing Christmas

I hope those of you who were waiting for Flourished Christmas to be restocked at Flourishes realize that it is there — so go ahead and place your orders at Flourishes. That is the set I used to make this card — using the tree as well as the Merry Christmas sentiment, which is not fully exposed. I placed it on the designer paper, on that little sheet of stationery, hoping it would looklike it was a part of the DP, and I think it does!

periphery-flourished-red-wm-notime.jpg

The designer paper used is a 6 x 6 pad by Basic Grey called Periphery — and do I LOVE it!!! It goes so well with all the flourished images in the Flourishes line, and it is available in their store. And I love all the soft shades of blues and neutrals in that pad — it’s really gorgeous paper!!! The blue satin ribbon I used (same as the chocolate and pomegranate by SU) is also available at Flourishes in many more colors as well!!! Additionally, the rectangle Nestabilities that I used on this card are also available at Flourishes. It’s so exciting to see their store getting so well stocked with all these absolutely gorgeous items!!!! It makes it so easy to make a pretty card when you have a nice supply of pretty things to work with!!! And it is just amazing how FAR one little 6 x 6 pad of paper will go — it seems to go on FOREVER, which is a good thing!!!

This was done for the sketch challenge at SCS today. I flipped the sketch, which was a very simple and verstile one! And rather than run my ribbon flat on the paper — up on top, above the tree image, I looped it — again, kind of goes along with my usual thinking of hanging a picture on a wall — I just like the little loopy tag wall hanger for a change! And another pretty and fun element to this card are the pretty Dew Drop clear pebbles I have decorating the tree, but they aren’t showing well in the photo. There is one at the tree top and 8 thoughout the tree — they are very dimensional and pretty — wish you could see them better. I got the Dew Drop pebbles from Ellen Hutson. They were adhered with Crystal Effects by SU.

  • Stamps: Flourished Christmas by Flourishes
  • Paper: By SU: Basic Black, Bashful Blue, Whisper White. DP: Periphery 6 x 6 pad by Basic Grey.
  • Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black
  • Accessories: Nestabilities Rectangle Dies, Cuttlebug, Blue Satin Ribbon, Clear Dew Drops pebbles, Crystal Effects by SU, Mounting Tape
  • Measurements: Card 5.5″ square. White tree panel is 2 7/8 x 3 3/4 (largest of the Nestability rectangle dies).

And about shopping — there are so many great places to shop online — I have been meaning to do a shopping list on my sidebar, but it just hasn’t happened yet — I’m planning to get to it real quick — so watch for it!

Thanks much for looking!!! Hope you are all having a great week!!! It’s a gorgeous Halloween day here — unseasonably warm temps and pleasant winds!!!

Football Scrap Pages

Published by notimetostamp under Scrapbook Pages

This is a 2 page, 12 x 12, layout I did for a class — they wanted to do football pages. I am not a football fan, so I hope I got it kind of right?!?!?!? I downloaded a picture of a football field from the net to follow. To get my ball the right shape, I did a Google search for a football coloring page, and that gave me the right size and shape. I often Google for coloring pages for shapes of images — works for me!!!

football-red-540-wm-notime.jpg

To make the field I merely cut strips of Garden Green 2″ wide x 8.5. I made a spacer, 3/16″ wide, of cardstock and that made it very quick and easy to lay the pieces down nice and straight. The numbers are die cut with the Cuttlebug and Olivia Alphabet die. The football helmet in the center is black embossed, punched with a 2″ punch andmatted with a 2.5″ punch.

The football was made using my Googled football coloring page for the shape, traced onto the reverse of this cool football paper I got from Michael’s. It’s just the same texture as a real football — very, very cool!!! I used my Crop-a-dile to punch the holes for the eyelets. The first row is punched 3/8″ in from the edge, and the next row is 1″ in from the edge. The seam (I guess that’s what it is) under the lacing is just a strip of paper. The lacing is 1/4″ grosgrain run through the eyelets that were set in the holes with my Crop-a-dile. The black seam acrossthe football is done with a black Sharpie. The white bands on the ends are also paper. Name and numbers are with the Cuttlebug and Olivia Alphabet die. GO VIKES! is done with Letterpress Alphabet in Elegant Eggplant. The school colors are purple and gold — I used Elegant Eggplant and More Mustard. The year was added in the lower right corner on a 2.5″ circle.

Hope the girls like this tomorrow!!! It really was fun to make — I love doing this type of scrapbook layout — just like doing a gigantic card front — LOL!!! Since I’m not a scrapper myself, I often wonder if there is too much “stuff” on these pages I design, so as to take away from the photos, but the girls I’m doing them for seem to like them, so I’ll keep it up until they want something different — I’m easy!!! The photos will be matted in Elegant Eggplant, More Mustard, Brown or White.

  • Stamps: Letterpress Alphabet, Sporting Goods
  • Paper: Whisper White, Garden Green, More Mustard, Elegant Eggplant, Football paper by The Paper Co. from Michaels
  • Ink: Versa Mark, Elegant Eggplant, Black Sharpie Marker.
  • Accessories: Black Detail EP, 1/4″ White Grosgrain Ribbon, Crop-a-dile, Eyelets, Cuttlebug, Olivia Alphabet Dies, Marvy Circle Punches in 2″ and 2.5″.

Thanks much for looking!!! I have so many things on the table to be done — it’s just finding the time — slow and steady wins the race — or so they say!!! Hope to have some cards to post real soon!!!

A NOTE TO FLOURISHES FANS: Flourished Christmas which has been out of stock at Flourishes is now back in stock — you can place your order by clicking here.

OK, I’ll Play Tag!

Published by notimetostamp under Chit Chat

I have never played Blog Tag before, but I will today. I have been tagged numerous times since Ive begun Blogging, but I have ignored them all (hanging my head in shame Im sorry!). When I started my Blog, I had a very clear vision for it 100% stamping and paper crafts nothing else!!! EVER!!! So, why am I playing today, you ask? Well, I was tagged with the same game twice within the last 2 days, and I figure I CAN play THIS tag game by keeping it within my original guidelines of staying 100% in the realm of stamping and paper crafting so, here goes: I was tagged by Debbie Olson (debbiedesigns/Thinking Inking) and by Jennifer Buck (The Buck Stamps Here).

Here are the rules:
1. Link to your tagger (see above), and also post these rules on your blog.
2. Share seven facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

OK, here are my 7 facts:

  1. I have always enjoyed writing, and I think thats why I enjoy Blogging so much.
  2. It drives me absolutely crazy when I discover that I have published a post with a typographical error!!!!
  3. I prefer to stamp alone and in complete silence. I can NOT create/design with another person near me and/or talking to me I dont even try!!!
  4. I wish I had taken some art classes in high school, but I had absolutely no interest then.
  5. I wish I could color, which maybe I could had I taken those art classes LOL!!!
  6. I work better with a clean work surface and organized space, but it often isnt that way!
  7. I am absolutely AMAZED (truly amazed) at the level of tolerance my DH has for the great amount of time I spend in my stamp room and/or at this computer what a guy, huh? Or gee, maybe hes just happy that Im not bugging him!!!

Sorry everyone, but thats about as interesting as it gets around here! I honestly dont know who to tag. I think this game has been going around for quite some time and many may have played it already, but Ill tag the following. If you dont want to play, I understand completely. Here they are:

  1. Kay Kalthoff/Speedystamper/Stamping toShare
  2. Angel Rivera/Angela R/Angels World
  3. Stephanie/Smilyn Stef/Ingenious Inkling
  4. Tobi Crawford/Jazzytobi/Tobi’s Place

OK, thats it Im tagging these 4. I have spent WAY too much time going through Blogs to see if the writers have played this game so many have just recently played it; however, if anyone reading this wants to play, just consider this YOUR tag. Let me know and Ill add you to the list!

Stamp Simply Challenge #6 - Tags-N-Bags

Challenge No.6 - Keyword SSnotime06 (stands for Stamp Simply notimetostamp No. 6) There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload your card at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! You can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

OK now, don’t panic when you see all these pictures — this challenge has 2 parts, and you may play either or both parts, up to you!

Challenge Part I: Make a tag — any kind, any size, any occasion, but make it with *component parts*. Make a couple small parts and then just put them all together for your final product. I LOVE to do this — it’s so easy to mass produce 6 or 12 of a little tiny thing — like my snowman in the cirlce. Then make another part, or two — like my recantagle red dotted stamped tag. Then make your base, do any stamping on it you deem necessary, and then just put all your parts together and you are done in no time!!!

OK, now that was supposed to be the challenge, but I just could NOT leave it there — I HAD to make a bag to go with my tag. So, here’s

Challenge Part II: In a simple and quick fashion, decorate a bag to coordinate with your tag. Decorate the front only. Use any type of bag you wish, and if you don’t have a decent bag, you can decorate a large envelope or anything you feel you could use to present a gift in. No hard and fast rules here — just want you to do something quick and simple to have on hand for a little gift — it’s so nice to have this sort of thing on hand when you need it in a pinch!!!

Thats it create away!!! My samples are shown below.

Remember when you upload to use the keyword above, followed by a comma. Please come back here to post (as a comment) that youve played, and provide a linkso I can check out your card right away. You can find all cards uploaded for this challenge by clicking Gallery Submissions Here.

Some wanting to play said they have never uploaded before. If thats you and you need help uploading, just go to my Challenge No. 1 and instructions are there.

06-tag-red-wm-notime.jpg

Here’s the tag. It measures 4 x 3.5. The corners are clipped on the paper cutter — I just measured 1″ from the corner and used those as my marks to make my angle. The snowman is from Merry and Bright, colored, punched and matted. The red dotted tag is from Tags for All, cut out and matted. Both are then adhered to the tag, the snowman being pop dotted up. A ribbon slot punched, ribbons run through and you are done!

06-bag-red-wm-notime.jpg

This bag is just an inexpensive handled bag from Wal-mart — SU sells a similar bag. It is about 9 x 5.5. I measure the bag front and then cut a piece of DP at least 1/4 wider and longer as I have found that these bags are often not perfectly square. So to be safe, cut the paper larger, adhere, lining up the top and left edge, then you can trim off the right edge and bottom either on your paper cutter (carefully) or by hand. This way you always have a perfect fit. Using a fun DP dresses this bag up instantly. Please scroll down to read about the tape I use.

I often like to add a simple decorative band on the bottom just for fun. Cut a strip of paper the proper width, stamp on it if desired, run a ribbon across the front and adhere on each edge on the back, then adhere your decorated band to the bag. This one is very simple with one word, noel, embossed in white, and a red ribbon run across it!

Here’s the bag with the tag on it:

06-both-red-wm-notime.jpg

All products (but the bag) are by SU:

  • Stamps: Merry and Bright, Tags for All, Many Merry Messages
  • Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Wintergreen Designer Paper
  • Ink: Black Stazon, Real Red, Versa Mark. Markers in Real Red and Certainly Celery.
  • Accessories: White Embossing Powder, 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 Circle Punches, Horizontal Slot Punch, Red 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon, 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon in Black, Red and Celery.

I just LOVE making gift bags!!! Quick, fun and useful projects!!! And I especially love when a project serves more than 1 purpose, and this project serves triple duty!!! 1) It is the sample for this challenge; 2) It is a sample I will use during November when SU has the Designer Paper special going (to showanother use for DP); and 3) I will also probably use this bag and tag as a Hostess Gift during November.

Editing to Add: I was asked about what tape I use on the bag, so I’ll address it now — I had this photo on file from a year or so ago. I use a very non-traditional tape — it is very cheap, very sticky, and very time consuming to use — but nothing will EVER fall apart when you use it!! It is double sided carpet tape, but it has to be a certain type of carpettape — all carpet tapes are NOT the same. This is a wide tape, about 1.5″ wide, comes on large rolls in boxes, from the Dollar Store! And yes, it costs $1. It HAS to be THIS carpet tape. You can get other brands of carpet tapes from Wal-mart or anywhere, butthey don’t work. They have heavy fibers in them, rendering them uselss for cards/paper crafting. The Dollar Store carpet tape is very thin and works perfectly for cards.Once you cut a piece off the roll and adhere it to your card, you then have to use your fingernail to pull up the covering on the other side, and this is the time consuming part. Also, you MUST be very precise when you set your piece down, because if it is positioned wrong, there is no pulling it up to reposition — it sticks TIGHT!!! That being said, and with all the negatives, I use it all the time because it is cheap and it sticks tight, and that’s important to me — I do not want my projects falling apart in someone’s hands!!! I am really curious about those large guns people use and I may be checking into that — that seems very efficient!!! Here’s a photo of the carpet tape:

ETA: It’s Budget Dollar — everyone is asking — sorry, I should have said that in the first place!

carpet-tape-ssnotime06.jpg

Oh also, my challenge last week, #5, was a fun one — making a card from scraps — and hardly no one played — only a few dedicated souls!!! That is when my FeedBlitz was not working, so I’m wondering if no one knew about it — or, and it is entirely possible, that no one liked the challenge — LOL!!! Either way, it had very little attention and it was actually my favorite of all the challenges I’ve done so far. If you are so inclined, please feel free to play that one as well: ssnotime05.

Thanks much for looking!!! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and can find some time to do whatever it is that pleases you!!!

Quilted Christmas

I’m so excited about this card. It was an idea that popped in my head at 2:00 a.m. as I was trying to fall asleep, wishing I was in my stamp room!!! LOL!!!! I made a little quilted panel using my new Scor-Pal (such a fun toy!!! — actually, not a toy, a NECESSITY!!!). I first embossed, with the Scor-Pal, the frame around the perimeter of my panel, then laying the paper at an angle on the Scor-Pal,I made the cross-wise embossed diamonds, then stamped my pretty little tree decorations in them. All these decorations, and many more, are included in the set called O Christmas Tree! by Flourishes. It’s the same set as the post below with the decorated tree. Love this set!!!

sc147-quilted-christmas-red-wm-notime.jpg

The images are stamped with Black Stazon and watercolored with reinkers and an Aquapainter. Not much to explain about this simple card, it’s just my quilted panel that got me so excited!!! I can just envision all sorts of things done with a similar quilted panel, only on a larger scale — can’t wait to find time to try it out!!!

  • Stamps: O Christmas Tree! by Flourishes
  • Paper: Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky, Whisper White, Wintergreen Designer Paper
  • Ink: Black Stazon, Soft Sky, Sage Shadow, Purely Pomegranate
  • Accessories: Aquapainter, Scor-Pal, Ticket Corner Punch, Satin Ribbon, Mounting Tape, Pop Dots, Dimensionals
  • Measurements: Card is 5.5 x 4.25; White Quilted Panel is 2.5 x 4.5; Sentiment panel is 1.25 x 3.

Thanks much for looking!!! Have you started your own Christmas cards? It’s amazing how doing just 1 or 2 a day gets the job done!!! Go for it!!!

Vintage Christmas

Here’s another card using this fun tree from Flourishes — the set is called O Christmas Tree! I did this card for today’s color challenge at SCS. The colors were Basic Gray, Soft Sky and Purely Pomegranate — great colors together!!!

I stamped the tree in Basic Gray onto Shimmer White cardstock, also available at Flourishes. It instantly reminded me of those silver artificial trees I remember from my childhoood!!! I used to think those trees were so pretty!!!I thenhighlighted the trunk and stems with the Gray marker, stamped the angel, ornaments and gift with Black Stazon and then watercolored them all with reinkers and an aquapainter in the permitted colors. I then heavily accented everything but the tree with a silver glitter pen (Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pen). Lots of sparkle and glimmer IRL!!!!

cc137-3rd-red-wm-notime.jpg

I used two coordinating prints from the Soft Sky Prints Designer Series Paper by SU, employing my tried and true *wallpaper technique* whereI create awall, hang paper and a chair rail (the ribbon in this case), and then hang my picture!!! Silly thing, but it works for me!!! That gorgeous scripted sentiment is in the same set, O Christmas Tree!

  • Stamps: O Christmas Tree by Flourishes
  • Paper: Basic Gray, Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky, Soft Sky Designer Paper, Shimmer White
  • Ink: Black Stazon, Basic Gray, Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky, Going Grey, Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll Pen in Silver
  • Accessories: Aquapainter, Ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch, Rhinestone Brad, Mounting Tape, Dimensionals
  • Measurements: Card is 6″ high (top fold, used 12 x 12 paper) x 5.25″ wide; Shimmer White panel is 2.5″ x 5″; lower DP is 5 x 2; upper DP is 5 x 4 (overlapped slightly); DP sentiment panel is 1 1/4″ x 2 3/4″.

I apologize that the colors are a bit off in this photo. I just had a really hard time getting a clear photo of this card — not sure why –and itended up with the colors being off — so sorry!!!

Thanks much for looking!!! Hope you are all getting an early start on some Christmas cards — even if it’s only a few here and there, it all helps!!!

Hostess Club Project

pp-set-red-wm-notime.jpg

This is a little gift set I made for my Hostess Club girls to do this week. This was a fun one!!! The box in the center isa Star Box scored with the Scor-Pal, my newest toy — and what fun it is!!!! Perfect scores every time, quick and easy, not much thinking and NO figuring — it’s totally awesome!!! And your paper stays put, no slipping or sliding — I can’t say enough good things about the Scor-Pal and I’m anxious to have my friends try it out this week!

pp-set-box-red-wm-notime.jpg

I followed the SCS tutorial for this Star Box written by Diana Crick, creator of the Scor-Pal, only I made mine shorter. My finished height is only 5″. The box is very solid and rigid and holds its star shape nicely — I was worried that it wouldn’t, but — no worries!!! This is just the cutest little box for some special, small treat!!! I used all SU punches, papers and stamps. The little tree tag on top opens and hasa To: and From: on the inside. I punched the white panel with the large tag punch and had to cut the Soft Sky paper around it. My tag hangs by a Word Window Punch tag run though a slot made with the Horizontal Slot Punch. The medallion is first a black Scalloped Punch, then the white/snowflake Scalloped Punched piece. The blue words are punched with a 1 3/8″ round punch and the center snowflakes used a 3/4″ punch. The medallion is held tight with the fatter pop dots and mounting tape.

You can’t really see very well in the photo, but I embossed a row of small circles around the star, on the black, just above the “be merry” band with the setting part of the Crop-a-dile. I’ve recently seen this done on several cards posted at SCS and was happy to read a little bit of instruction in the brand new Blog of Nancy Morgan– thanks much!!! It sure is a fun thing to do!!!

pp-set-joy-red-wm-notime.jpg

This card is a 4.25″ square Joy Fold card. I again used my new Scor-Pal. The card is first scored in the center, like normal, and then the front is scored in 1/2, which would be the 2 1/8″ line on the Scor-Pal, and turned back. The main image panel is 3 1/4 x 3 1/4. The penguin’s beak and feet are colored with the Only Orange Marker and the black and Soft Sky were colored with reinkers and an aquapainter. It was punched with the large tag punch, then the black border was cut around it. Another medallion was made, as above. A photo turn from the Pewter Hodgepodge hardware holds the card closed.

pp-set-33-red-wm-notime.jpg

The final piece to this set is a little 3 x 3. Quick and simple. The same medallion as above described with a ribbon run behind it.

  • Stamps: Punch Pals, Warm Words and Many Merry Messages for inside sentiments
  • Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Soft Sky, Soft Sky Prints Designer Paper
  • Ink: Classic Black, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky. Marker in Only Orange.
  • Punches: Round Scallop, 1 3/8″ round, 3/4″ round, Large Tag, Horizontal Slot, Word Window.
  • Accessories: Aquapainter, Scor-Pal, Crop-a-dile, Ribbon, Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware, Silver Brads, Pop Dots, Mounting Tape, Mini Glue Dots, Crafter’s Tool Kit

That about does it — thanks much for looking!

A question to my FeedBlitz subscribers: Are you getting the email notices you should about my uploads? I am led to believe that none have gone out for about a week –I contacted FeedBlitz and they said they fixed it, but I’m still not so sure — so, if you are a subscriber, can you let me know if you have been getting the email notices of my uploads? Thanks much!

A Flourished Christmas: Coming Soon!

I have nothing new to show you today - I have been enjoying the weekend with out of town guests! But I can’t wait to get going on my next project! I just got my new Scor-Pal in the mail and I have a fun project in mind for next week’s Hostess Club — so stay tuned, it won’t be long!!! Can’t wait to try out my new Scor-Pal!

I do, however, want to let all of you who are fans of the Flourishes line of stamps know that even though FLOURISHED CHRISTMAS is temporarily out of stock at Flourishes, the new shipment will be arriving by the end of this week, so don’t despair if you’ve tried to order it. Concern has arisen in many of you because you are not seeing the set listed in their store. Their computer system is set up to remove the item once inventory reaches 0, so that’s what happened. FLOURISHED CHRISTMAS was such a hugely popular set, it sold out almost immediately, so get in quickly on the next batch. You may email the ladies at Flourishesat flourishesllc@cox.netand they’ll be sure to let you know when the new shipment arrives.

FLOURISHED CHRISTMASis the set with the reindeer with those GORGEOUS antlers and that beautiful flourished style Christmas tree. Here are some of my samples: Flourished Reindeer, Christmas Gift Bag, Flourished Christmas Tree. And on Flourished Rejoice!I used the reindeer’s antlers to create this very formal looking border/frame — fun!!!

Hope you all have a great Sunday! Oh, also, my Friday Blog Challenge kind of got buried here this weekend — scroll down 2 posts to see it — it’s a fun one — using up scraps and punches to create quick cards!!! Hope you can find time to play!!!

Storing Scrap Paper and More

Published by notimetostamp under Chit Chat

I just listed my challenge below and had an immediate question, so I’ll address it here in case others have the same question. It was: How do I store my scrap pieces of paper?

I know my system may not be to the liking of many, but I have found it to be the most efficient way that allows me to use up scraps OFTEN, and we all know how those scraps accumulate.

storage-85-x-11-red-notime.jpg

8.5 x 11 Paper Storage: 99% of the paper I own is SU. I have a regular office type 2 drawer file cabinet with the hanging folders. I have a folder for each of the SU colors. I keep my packs of paper in the cellophane they come in — slit open nicely across the top with a craft knife, then insert the pack into it’s proper file. Some files have many packs in them. I only slit open one pack at a time. Yes, I have to pull out the pack each time to slide out a piece, but they are always in perfect condition, never bent orfolded corners.

As I accumulate scraps of this paper, the scraps get thrown loosely into the same file folder. I know a lot of people keep separate containers for scraps, organized by color families, or whatever. I tried that and it didn’t work for me. I hated to dig through a box of multi colors mixed up. I like keeping all my scraps with the same color paper. It allows me to pull the file out of the drawer, lay it on the table, and SEE exactly what sizes I have, checking to see if I really have to cut into a new piece!

The file folders in the cabinet are NOT organized by color family — that always made me think too hard as to which color family this certain blue is in — YKWIM? I organize by color. Greens, reds, blues, purples, neutrals, etc. I find that to be much easier for me!

storage-12-x-12-red-notime.jpg

12 x 12 Cardstock Storage: Again, I keep them in their cellophane wrappers, pulling out a sheet as a I need it. If a cut piece is left 12″ long, I keep it with the 12 x 12 paper. If it gets cut so it is less than 11″ long, then it gets transferred to my 8.5 x 11 file for that color. So only the full 12″ scrapsget left in the 12 x 12 cello wrap.

I just purchased a new system for storing the 12 x 12 packs — these clear boxes that slide into a cart type thing — looks like it would be drawers, but you have to pull them out and open them up like a box — I love it — made by Iris. I purchased mine at Fleet Farm, so NOT a stamping/scrapping store — LOL — it’s a farm supply store in the midwest!!! Love this system for 12 x 12 storage. I have 2 units, which gives me 6 *drawers*.

storage-dp-red-notime.jpg

12 x 12 Designer Paper Storage: Again, neatly slit the cellophane wrapper on top so in essence my paper is left in its bag. All DP scraps go back into their own *bag*, always together, never separated or mixed with any other DP. These *bags* are then stored in the above Irisdrawers.

OK, that’s my paper storage system! And I am currently working on:

storage-ribbon-red-notime.jpg

Ribbon storage: I have been put to shame by so many organized people whose Blogs I check out, so I decided it’s time to try tobetter organize my ribbon– I purchased these boxes at Michaels (which is a trip for me!). I only got 6, knowing it wouldn’t touch all that I needed, but it was a start — more next time! I love them because I don’t like when a ribbon spool is in something that needs to be pulled out, like as if the ribbon is threaded through a hole. When I’m working, I like to pull out my entire spool and have it on my work surface. These boxes are perfect for that. The ribbon comes out of the slit created where the lid meets the box, but the lid opens up easily so I can remove the spool I want. Love these boxes and can’t wait to get more — also love that they nest and stack securely on top of each other!!!

Oh, and I organize my ribbon by type first, then color — I put together all the same types — organdy, satin, grosgrain, checked, etc — then by color within the type. I hang my velvet. I drape it into large loops and hang it — I do NOT like lumps in my velvet that come when wrapped around a card — I am fanatical about that — so I always keep it loose and hang it — currently on an old pole lamp — LOL — got to work on that!!! I don’t like wrinkles or crinkles in any ribbon — if it’s wrinkled, I iron it — yes, I know — but I just can’t help it!!! LOL!!!

Oh, I still have so much organizing to do — but it’s a work in progress — never ending!!! It just feels so good with each little new accomplishment!

This card was super quick to make. I needed a really quick card (talking like 15 minutes here) as we were headed out and I wanted to get it done before I left. So what to do in such few minutes — THINK QUICK! I had a scrap class yesterday, and that mess was not yet cleaned up, so the rust/brown inks and sponges on the table caught my eye — this needed to be a guy card, so the Outlaw paper would go with those colors — and it wasn’t far, right in sight, with all my scrap pieces right in the bag — so Outlaw paper, of course, makes you think of Wanted, which made me think of the scallop punch — perfect — quick — then we need a star, too! The panel with the hemp on it was a scrap in the bag — it only needed to be trimmed about 1/8″ to fit properly — the same with the chocolate layer under it (yes, I know I was very lucky) — then the 2 scalloped circles, the 3/4″ circle and the stars were all stamped on scraps and punched. The main DP sheet was about twice it’s size, so it had to be cut in 1/2. That piece of hemp was even a scrap that was left on my work desk — how handy — just put tape on the back of my panel and wrapped till it was all wrapped up!!! The slowest part of this card was using the SAMJ to split the Happy Birthday sentiment so it fit properly. And I did sponge all my papers before attaching and that was super quick!

I was very pleased with how quickly this card came together! I have a long list of possible Stamp Simply Challenges, and this was NOT one of them — but it just all clicked so well, using what was out, using paper scraps and punches — that I decided it might be a fun challenge — however, the stamper with a little bit of a mess might be at the advantage here — LOL!!!
