Joyeux Noel!
I did this card for today’s Sketch Challenge at SCS — what a fun one. It was to make a regular sized left side fold card — then cut about 1″ off the right side of the front, exposing the inside of the card — how simple, and it adds such a nice element of fun and surprise to the card!!!!
This is also my 2nd card for today using this gorgeous angel from Rejoice, a set being released today by Flourishes. I have truly fallen in love with her!!! Those of you who know me well, know that coloring is not my favorite thing — LOL!!! However, I could sit and color her pretty dress and wings and ribbons all day long!!! She is such fun and so easy to color. I used an aquapainter and reinkers dotted on my pad lids.
I also used my new Nestabilities Rectangle dies by Spellbinders for the first time. They, too, are available at Flourishes, along with the Shimmer White paper I used. I am far from an expert in using my new dies, but I’m pleased with the result here. The black was merely cut with the die in my Cuttlebug, while the white rectangle the image is stamped on was both cut and embossed with the Nestabilities die in my Cuttlebug. Can you see the narrow embossed edge? Oh, in checking I see itbarelyshows up — it does show up so much more pronounced IRL!!! I really need totake a photography class — LOL!!!I love it and can’t wait to play some more!!!
The image was stamped onto Shimmer White paper with VersaFine Onyx Black ink, colored with an aquapainter, and then highlighted with a Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pen in Gold. It’s not showing in the photo, but the stars by her hands, her horn and her wings are all highlighted and very sparkly IRL! The card front was stamped in Versa Mark with a retired SU background stamp I have always loved, Antique Background, and brushed with Perfect Gold Perfect Pearls by Ranger, then swiped clean with a swiffer. The golden sheen on this background matches the sheen and glitter on the angel image just perfectly!!! Before adhering the main image to the card front, I wrapped the edge of the card front with Blue Taffeta Ribbon (SU) — so gorgeous!!!! And rather than decorate the inside of the flap created on the right side, I chose to use a corner punch (my favorite Anna Griffin Ornamental Bracket Punch) in the lower corner and then I adhered a strip of black on the back of the card so the punched area would show in black, plus it created a little black border along the card edge, which I like. Add the sentiment in a punched circle, put on a pretty bow, and I’m done!!! Thanks for looking!!!
