Vintage Christmas

Published by at 11 52 pm under Christmas Cards

Here’s another card using this fun tree from Flourishes — the set is called O Christmas Tree! I did this card for today’s color challenge at SCS. The colors were Basic Gray, Soft Sky and Purely Pomegranate — great colors together!!!

I stamped the tree in Basic Gray onto Shimmer White cardstock, also available at Flourishes. It instantly reminded me of those silver artificial trees I remember from my childhoood!!! I used to think those trees were so pretty!!!I thenhighlighted the trunk and stems with the Gray marker, stamped the angel, ornaments and gift with Black Stazon and then watercolored them all with reinkers and an aquapainter in the permitted colors. I then heavily accented everything but the tree with a silver glitter pen (Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pen). Lots of sparkle and glimmer IRL!!!!

I used two coordinating prints from the Soft Sky Prints Designer Series Paper by SU, employing my tried and true *wallpaper technique* whereI create awall, hang paper and a chair rail (the ribbon in this case), and then hang my picture!!! Silly thing, but it works for me!!! That gorgeous scripted sentiment is in the same set, O Christmas Tree!

  • Stamps: O Christmas Tree by Flourishes
  • Paper: Basic Gray, Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky, Soft Sky Designer Paper, Shimmer White
  • Ink: Black Stazon, Basic Gray, Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky, Going Grey, Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll Pen in Silver
  • Accessories: Aquapainter, Ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch, Rhinestone Brad, Mounting Tape, Dimensionals
  • Measurements: Card is 6″ high (top fold, used 12 x 12 paper) x 5.25″ wide; Shimmer White panel is 2.5″ x 5″; lower DP is 5 x 2; upper DP is 5 x 4 (overlapped slightly); DP sentiment panel is 1 1/4″ x 2 3/4″.

I apologize that the colors are a bit off in this photo. I just had a really hard time getting a clear photo of this card — not sure why –and itended up with the colors being off — so sorry!!!

Thanks much for looking!!! Hope you are all getting an early start on some Christmas cards — even if it’s only a few here and there, it all helps!!!
