3 x 3 Sweet Treats

This is a little tiny 3 x 3 I made using a new set from Flourishes called Sweet Treats — and how sweet it is!!!  It has 30 stamps in all — a beautiful 3-tiered serving tray with any kind of treats you’d like to serve up — such a fun set!!!  But I only used one little cupcake on my tiny 3 x 3 today.

Christmas Tree Scrap Page

This is an 8 x 8 scrapbook page I did for Christmas.  Just love that little tree — it looks just like the trees growing in the fields around here and it reminds me of many a tree we’ve had!  I chose that piece of DP because for some reason, and probably no one will see this but me, but when I put it up against the red framed tree, it just reminded me of a snowstorm on a dark evening, when everyone is all snuggled inside by the tree!!!  Yes, everyone tells me I have a vivid imagination — LOL — but can’t you just feel the cold and see the storm???

All stamps used on this page are from a set by Flourishes called O Christmas Tree. I love the versatility you can achieve by stamping on a scrapbook page.  This cute little page, all ribboned up just like a Christmas present, will hold several photos and a little journaling as well!  I see the photos matted with the Real Red and the journaling done on a tag made out of the Marigold Morning!  Gee, I wish I had some Christmas photos of little children handy so I could finish the page — I can just see it in my mind!

8×8-fl-vw-o-christmas-tree-red-wm-notime.jpg

The tree is stamped in Always Artichole and accented with a Chocolate Chip marker, the balls are stamped in black and colored with a marker, then highlighted with a Signo White Gel Pen.  The skirt is paper pieced and the star is punched, then covered with Dazzling Diamonds.  The Photo Corner is also punched and attached with brads.  The lovely “Christmas” in the lower left corner is also included in the O Christmas Tree set.  It’s such a fun set for Christmas with this fun tree and all of its ornaments and several sentiments.  It can be seen at Flourishes, and the last time I looked it was on special, when purchased as a kit with some paper and ribbons!!!!

The main image is cut and embossed with a Nestabilities Rectangle Die and the scalloped frame was made with their Rectangle Scallop Die, both being run through the Cuttlebug.  The Nestability Dies are available as well at Flourishes.

  • Stamps:  O Christmas Tree by Flourishes
  • Paper:  SU:  Real Red, Whisper White, Marigold Morning (retired).  DP is from the Beacon Hill 8 x 8 pad by Daisyd’s.
  • Ink:  SU:  Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip Marker, Signo White Gel Pen.  Also Versa Fine Onyx Black and Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll Pen in Silver.
  • Accessories:  Nestabilities Rectangle and Rectangle Scallop Dies, Cuttlebug, and from SU:  Star Punch, Photo Corner Punch, Brads, 5/8″ Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals.

Autumn Splendor Scrap Pages

This is a 2 page, 12 x 12 layout, I did for a class tomorrow with an autumn theme.  The pages are overlapped just to make it easier to get a picture.  I think the pages have a homey and warm feel, and the faux cross stitches make me think of a Sampler when I look at these pages!

The leaves you see outside the pages are punched leaves that everyone will make, but they will not be placed/adhered until after the photos are added.  They can adorn photo corners or fill in dead spaces.  The leaves were punched, little vein lines drawn with a sparkly pen, then heavily sponged in the same color as the paper.  Faux stitching was done with the use of the Mat Pack (one of my very favorite tools — use that little thing every single day!), and a white gel pen for the larger stitches and the fine tip of a brown marker for the smaller stitches.  On these pages I used the stitches merely as a filler for dead space.  The trio panel of leaves are stamped in Timber Brown Stazon and colored with pad ink and an aquapainter, backed with a strip of ribbon and then I added some brads.  I think it looks like it could be a wall  hanging!  The letters were stamped with a retired color Spectrum Pad, Late November.  Spectrum pads are such fun to use!!! and you can’t beat having a large alphabet set on hand to customize any scrapbook page!!!

  • Stamps:  Letterpress Alphabet, Fantastic Foliage (retired), Aspen Leaf by Rubber Stampede
  • Paper:  Chocolate Chip, Marigold Morning (retired), Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, Perfect Plum, Naturals White
  • Ink:  Timber Brown Stazon, Marigold Morning (retired), Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant, Spectrum Pad in Late November (retired).  Marker in Chocolate Chip.  Signo White Gel Pen.  Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll Pen in Gold.
  • Accessories:  5/8″ Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Brads, Crafter’s Tool Kit, Sponge, Leaf Punch by McGill

Thanks much for looking!!! Hope you’re all having a great day!!!

OH, there’s a fun Color Challenge at SCS today — all pink for Breast Cancer Awareness.  And Emily provides a link to an ebay auction — now this will be fun to watch — all the design team for My Favorite Things have made and donated a card (18 in all) in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness and they are being auctioned off as a group.  The bid was at $68 when I looked about an hour ago — it’ll be fun to watch and see what it goes for — here’s the link to the ebay auction.

Artfully Asian Autumn

These are two cards I’ve done using the Artfully Asian set.  In all honesty, I’m not too crazy about either of them as they just do not reflect my usual style and preference, but they were both made with a specific purpose in mind, and I guess we don’t all always love 100% of what we do — LOL!!!  Since I did make  them, I will post them here.  I’m an equal opportunity author — the good and the bad — LOL!!!

This first card is a very simple autumn sympathy card I needed to make for an elderly uncle of ours.  He lost a lifelong friend, so this card is for our uncle to give to his friend’s family.  It HAD to be a plain and simple card.  I found a lovely simple little card in the gallery of stampertammy, who was today’s Featured Stamper on SCS, so I cased that to play along in the challenge.  Here is Tammy’s card.  I subbed a strip of paper for the ribbon and added a little more stamping, but it’s the same basic layout.

aa-sympathy-red-wm-notime.jpg

All stamping is black embossed.  The leaves are colored with pad ink and an aquapainter.  Although this is all SU, several items used are retired.  I dearly loved Morning Marigold last year, so I made sure I had enough to last a bit longer!!!

  • Stamps:  Artifully Asian, Warmest Regards (retired)
  • Paper:  Basic Black, Old Olive, Very Vanilla and Morning Marigold (retired)
  • Ink:  Versa Mark and Marigold Morning and Baroque Burgundy (both retired)
  • Accessories:  Aquapainter, Black Detail EP, Vintage Brads, Mounting Tape
  • Measurements:  Card is  5.5 x 4.25; main image panel is 2 x 2.25; black strip is 1/2″ wide.

Next is a thank you card I made a month or so ago.  This card had a specific purpose as well.  We were doing a very feminine Artfully Asian card at a workshop, seen here.  Since Artfully Asian was a new set to most of my ladies, I wanted to have a card on hand to show them the versatility of the set — that even though we were doing a most definitely feminine card,  Artfully Asian does have another side to it — LOL!!!  So this was my attempt at a more bold, masculine type of card using Artfully Asian.

aa-thanks-red-wm-notime.jpg

Four of the five stamps in this set were used on this card.  All the background stamping is done tone on tone.  Thank you and the leaves are black embossed and colored in with an aquapainter and pad ink.  This was another one of my Scrap Cards, where the layout just sort of comes together based on the size of the scrap pieces I pick up to use.

  • Stamps:  Artfully Asian
  • Paper:  More Mustard, Old Olive, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy, Natural White
  • Ink:  Above plus Versa Mark and a Sahara Sand Marker to outline leaves
  • Accessories:  Aquapainter, Brads, Photo Corner Punch, Sponges
  • Measurements:  Card 5.5 x 4.25; NQN strip is 2″ wide; OO piece is 4 x 3.25; main image panel is 2.5 x 2.25.

Thanks much for looking!!!  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!!  I am working on some Autumn Themed scrapbook pages to post, hopefully on Monday!!!  Thanks much!!!

ssnotime04-red-wm-beribboned-simplicity-notime.jpg

This card is the ultimate in simplicity — and it’s quick and easy.  It fits the open end envelopes by SU.  I used 12 x 12 paper to cut the card base.  It is one simple image, colored, double matted, and adorned with a gorgeous, wide wired ribbon.  I just got this lovely hostess set and I do love it!!!  I can see a quick and pretty gift set of cards made from this set with its pretty floral images.  It so reminds me of two old time favorites — Long Stemmed and Art of Life!!!  I love the long, narrow stemmed flowers!!!

My flowers/berries and leaves are colored with reinkers and an aquapainter.  I then did the little tips/stems of the berries with the small tip of a Chocolate Chip marker.  I used the Old Olive marker’s narrow tip to color in the narrow stem.  I added little highlight marks to the berries with the Signo White Gel Pen.  Double matted the image, attached to card and tied on a ribbon — that’s it — done in no time!!!  I must add, it was this type of a super simple image and card that I first loved to make when I began stamping 8 years ago; however, I didn’t have, and I guess maybe people weren’t using quite as much, all the pretty ribbons back then.  Things change over time — and that’s the fun of it!!!

All products are by SU! except the ribbon, which is by Offray from Wal-Mart

  • Stamps:  Oh, So Lovely
  • Paper:  Whisper White, Ballet Blue, Old Olive
  • Ink:  Black Stazon.  Reinkers in Ballet Blue and Old Olive.  Markers in Old Olive and Chocolate Chip.
  • Accessories:  1 1/2″ wide wired ribbon by Offray from Wal-Mart
  • Measurements:  Card is 3 1/4″ x 6″, top fold, cut from 12 x 12 paper.  Main image panel is 2 1/4 x 4 3/4″.

Thanks much for looking — hope you can find time to play this weekend, or anytime!!!

Workshop Card and Hostess Gift

This is a really quick and simple Christmas card I came up with for a workshop this week.  The base card is stamped with snowflakes from Snowburst in White Craft.   The DP is Wintergreen, bottom edge lightly distressed.  The large star is stamped with Versa Mark on white and embossed with Irridescent Ice, then cut out – very sparkly.  The centers of the snowflakes were then dotted with a glue pen and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds for a bit of all over sparkle!!!  Super quick and easy card!!!  Thanks for looking!!

lindas-ws-red-wm-notime.jpg

  • Stamps:  Star Studded, Snowburst, Many Merry Messages
  • Paper:  Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Wintergreen DP
  • Ink:  Black Stazon, Craft White, Versa Mark
  • Accessories:  Bashful Blue Taffeta, Irridescent Ice EP, Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals, Distressing Tool on Cutter Kit
  • Measurements:  Card is 5.5 x 4.25; DP is 5.5 x 2; Sentiment panel is 1.5 x 2.5.

The other card we’re doing at this workshop is the Ride ‘em Cowboy posted a few cards down in the Boho West theme.  I made the Hostess Gift to coordinate with that card as the hostess really likes the horse/cowboy theme, so this is my Boho West Hostess Gift.

lindas-hsts-red-wm-notime.jpg

My hostess gifts are never real elaborate — but I do try to fit them to the hostesses personality, and they usually seem pleased!  This contains several 4 x 5.25″ pieces of the Outlaw DP, and a sheet each of Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow and Really Rust, cut into quarters.  One tiny baggy contains 18 punched stars in the same colors and the other contains 18 brass eyelets (vintage) and a few yards of hemp.  In the center is a spool (round tab punch spool — love that idea) containing 1 yard of 5/8″ wide Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon.  I know my hostess, and I KNOW she’ll also carefully take the bag apart and use the punched pieces on the bag topper!!!  I just love putting these little gift bags together!!!  Hope she likes it!!!!  I think she will!!!  Thanks for looking!!!

Joyeux Noel!

I did this card for today’s Sketch Challenge at SCS — what a fun one.  It was to make a regular sized left side fold card — then cut about 1″ off the right side of the front, exposing the inside of the card — how simple, and it adds such a nice element of fun and surprise to the card!!!!

This is also my 2nd card for today using this gorgeous angel from Rejoice, a set being released today by Flourishes.  I have truly fallen in love with her!!!  Those of you who know me well, know that coloring is not my favorite thing — LOL!!!  However, I could sit and color her pretty dress and wings and ribbons all day long!!!  She is such fun and so easy to color.  I used an aquapainter and reinkers dotted on my pad lids.

I also used my new Nestabilities Rectangle dies by Spellbinders for the first time.  They, too, are available at Flourishes, along with the Shimmer White paper I used.  I am far from an expert in  using my new dies, but I’m pleased with the result here.  The black was merely cut with the die in my Cuttlebug, while the white rectangle the image is stamped on was both cut and embossed with the Nestabilities die in my Cuttlebug.  Can you see the narrow embossed edge?  Oh, in checking I see it barely shows up — it does show up so much more pronounced IRL!!!  I really need to take a photography class — LOL!!!  I love it and can’t wait to play some more!!!

sc145-joyeux-noel-red-wm-notime.jpg

The image was stamped onto Shimmer White paper with VersaFine Onyx Black ink, colored with an aquapainter, and then highlighted with a Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pen in Gold.  It’s not showing in the photo, but the stars by her hands, her horn and her wings are all highlighted and very sparkly IRL!  The card front was stamped in Versa Mark with a retired SU background stamp I have always loved, Antique Background, and brushed with Perfect Gold Perfect Pearls by Ranger, then swiped clean with a swiffer.  The golden sheen on this background matches the sheen and glitter on the angel image just perfectly!!!  Before adhering the main image to the card front, I wrapped the edge of the card front with Blue Taffeta Ribbon (SU) — so gorgeous!!!!  And rather than decorate the inside of the flap created on the right side, I chose to use a corner punch (my favorite Anna Griffin Ornamental Bracket Punch) in the lower corner and then I adhered a strip of black on the back of the card so the punched area would show in black, plus it created a little black border along the card edge, which I like.  Add the sentiment in a punched circle, put on a pretty bow, and I’m done!!!    Thanks for looking!!!

  • Stamps:  Rejoice by Flourishes; retired Antique Background by SU
  • Paper:  Shimmer White from Flourishes; SU papers — So Saffron, Basic Black, Bashful Blue
  • Ink:  VersaFine Onyx Black, Versa Mark.  SU reinkers — So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Creamy Caramel, Pretty in Pink
  • Accessories:  Spellbinders Nestabilities Rectangle Die Cuts and Cuttlebug; SU 1 1/4 and 1 3/8″ inch punches; Anna Griffin Ornamental Bracket Punch; Perfect Gold Perfect Pearls by Ranger; Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll Pen in Gold; Aquapainter; SU Mini Glue Dots, Pop-Dot
  • Measurements:  Standard 5.5 x 4.25 card with 1″ cut off front right; White main image panel - 2 7/8 x 3 3/4″ (largest of the large rectangle set of dies).

Hint:  Once again, I hold the shape to the pretty bow and tails with mini glue dots — everywhere you see the bow touches the paper — it is held there with a mini glue dot by SU — don’t know what I’d do without those little things!!!

Joy to the World!

This card features this gorgeous angel and sentiment from the set entitled Rejoice by Flourishes, which is being released today!!!  At last!!!  She has been long awaited!!!  This same set has a total of 12 stamps, one of which is that gorgeous, large Rejoice with the holly that I used last week.  Just love the stamps in this new set — so wonderful for the approaching holiday season!!!  The Shimmer White and Brushed Metallic Gold papers that I used are also available at Flourishes — such perfect compliments for this beautiful angel!!!

angel-joy-red-wm-notime.jpg

The angel was stamped onto Shimmer White with Black Stazon and watercolored with reinkers and an aquapainter.  The horn, her wings, the stars by her hand and the trim near her skirt hem are all highlighted in gold with a Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll Pen.  It looks so gorgeous and shimmery IRL, but it isn’t showing at all in the photo — sorry!  The stars are punched from the same metallic gold paper with the new SU star punch with gold brads in the center, holding them to the card.  Antique Brass Hodgepodge Hardware by SU is attached to the sentiment and holds a bow.  SU Mini Glue Dots do a great job holding all the bow tails in place!!!  The black was added for definition and to give it a little POP!!!  This is a large card — 7.5″ x 5.5″.  Thanks much for looking!

  • Stamps:  Rejoice by Flourishes
  • Paper:  Shimmer White and Brushed Metallic Gold, both from Flourishes.  Bashful Blue and Basic Black from SU.
  • Ink:  Black Stazon.  Reinkers in  Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Creamy Caramel, Blush Blossom.
  • Accessories:  From SU:  Aquapainter, Blue Taffeta, Ticket Corner Punch, Star Punch, Gold Brads, Antique Brass Hodgepodge Hardware, Mini Glue Dots.  Star Dust Gelly Roll Pen by Sakura.  Mounting Tape by Duck.
  • Measurements:  Card - 5.5 x 7.5; Angel panel - 4.5 high x 4.75 wide; Sentiment panel - 1.5 x 4.25; Black accent pieces - 3 x 5 and 3/4 x 5.25.
