Framed Rejoice
This project is somewhat of a continuation of my card posted just below — same stamp set and same paper pad — but a totally different feel!!! This was a fun and fairly quick project to do! I love making home decor items — it seems so much more personal than picking up some mass produced item from the store! I have somewhat of a fettish for picture frames, and seem to be picking them up all the time from here and there, especially if they’re on sale — LOL!!! This frame was on a sale rack at Wal-Mart and I just loved it right away — love that the opening is square and I love the heavy, dark, aged wood. I KNEW it would be perfect for something — sometime — LOL!!! Today is the day!!!
The frame is about 9″ square and the exposed opening is 3.5″ square. I am really loving my new 6 x 6 pad of Periphery DP, so I chose a sheet from there, cut a 3″ square and gold embossed the tree from Flourished Christmas by Flourishes. I then dragged the edges of that panelthrough a Versa Mark pad and gold embossed them as well, mounted on a sheet of brushed gold metallic paper, added corner brads and mounted onto the background sheet of DP with mounting tape to gain some elevation. Before putting it into the frame, I ran a piece of wide wired ribbon through the picture opening and tied it into a bow.
The Rejoice panel started it’s life as a thin chipboard coaster. To it Iadhered a piece of the DP with Mod Podge, ran it through the Cuttlebug with a Nestabilities rectangle die, then gold embossed the Rejoice and again embossed the edges, as above described. Since the back is visible, I *painted* it with a brown chalk ink pad to match the frame. The Rejoice panel is merely adhered to the frame with SU Mini Glue Dots. There is also one Mini Glue Dot on each ribbon tail to hold it perfectly in place!
The stamp set, Flourished Christmas, the brushed gold metallic paper, the Periphery DP by Basic Grey, and the Nestabilities Dies are all available at Flourishes.
