No Time To Stamp?

This is a set of 3 boxes I made, again using the tall, elongated style andmeasurements I found in a book from Michaels — boxes designed by Kelly Lunceford, or atomicbutterflyas we all know her at SCS.The book is Great Gift Ideas Using Scrapbook Materials, A Tweety Jill Publication by Jill Haglund. I just love this style of box. I could just sit and make these boxes all day long!

All 3 boxes use the same products — the latest release by Flourishes, a set called Flourished Elements, a “must have” set in my book, DP from the 6 x 6 pad of Periphery by Basic Grey (available at Flourishes), cardstock by Prism Papers(from the Prismatics line), wide stitched satin ribbon in blue and brown available at Flourishes, and narrower taffeta ribbon in blue and moss from SU. All the hardware is Brass Hodgepodge Hardware from SU.

First of all, sorry for all this empty space, but I don’t know how to wrap text — I’m learning — slow but sure — just couldn’t figure that out yet!!! Anyway, this is the tallest box. They are all the same width (2.75″ square), only the height varies. This one is about 9.5″ high with the cover on. The large flourish is embossed in blue, and the medallion uses another stamp in the Flourished Elements set, and it is embossed in brown. It is layered with a brown circle and blue scallop, which is pierced. A large brass eyelet is set in the center. A tag hangs on top with Hodgepodge Hardware. It’s a simple SU scalloped circle matted with a solid blue circle.

This is the medium box, at about 8.25″ tall. This time I used individual flourishy type images from Flourished Elements and stamped them on the green in Timber Brown Stazon. Another is stamped on a creamy colored paper and oval punched and inserted into the hardware. An oval punched tag hangs from the top on Hodgepodge Hardware, and I used a little different type of ribbon treatment at the top. It serves as a handle to just pull off the box top. Works great!

This is the smallest box at about 6.5″ high. Again the flourish is embossed in blue, another single flourish is stamped onto creamy paper, circle punched and matted, with a brass brad on top, mounted on the box with a pop dot. “Friend” is from Fantasy Floral Garden, framed in Hodgepodge Hardware which is attached to the box cover with ribbon. A small punched tag hangs on top, again with the same hardware.

To make these boxes in this size you need 12 x 12 paper — 1 full sheet for the bottom of the large box, then just cut a little shorter for each consecutively shorter box, but still requiring the full 12″ width. To make the top, ideally you would use 12 x 12 designer paper; however, I wanted to use the paper in my 6 x 6 pad of Periphery, SO — it turned into a little bit bigger job — but not so bad! I made the box cover from 12 x 12 cardstock. Then, after it was scored, but before it was taped into shape, I cut individual pieces of paper from my 6 x6 padsto cover each panel of the box top to give the appearance of having been made out of designer paper. Just a little measuring and cutting — it really didn’t take long at all, and I love the result!!! Directions for cutting and scoring this box can be seen here on an earlier post I did.
