Damask

Three new sets are due to be released today (Monday) by Flourishes and I’ll tell you, I couldn’t be happier with any of them — they are fabulous!!!  There are 2 separate background stamps, though both are the same image — confusing???  No, not at all — the image is the positive image on one stamp and the negative image on the other stamp - now how cool is that!!!  The possibilites for this pair are limitless!!!  And the 3rd set is a set of sentiments — in a nice size, which I love — and they have a variety of the nicest fonts!!  Just love them!!!  OK, here’s my first card:

Now you can’t get much simpler than this!!!! I stamped the Damask Positive with black ink (Versa Fine Onyx Black) onto Bashful Blue cardstock, punched the corners with the Ticket Corner Punch, matted in black, wrapped 2 pieces of black velvet ribbon around the panel and adhered this panel to my card with mounting tape.  I attached a pin from SU’s Pretties Kit to the velvet ribbon, added a bow made from the Dotted Organdy Ribbon, and made my sentiment panel using the 1 1/4″, 1 3/8″ and Designer Label Punches by SU.  The sentiment is from Many Sentiments — and what a fun set!!! After adhering it to my card I added some half pearls from the Pretties Kit.  Love this new stamp and love this card!!! It has sort of  a classic/vintage feel to it — I like that!!!   OK, on to the next:

This card has a bit more of a masculine feel to it.  For this card I used the Damask Negative stamp — inking it with Creamy Caramel and stamping onto Very Vanilla.  Can you see that the design that was black in the first card is the lighter color on this card?  Very cool!  I then used my large corner stamp from Flourished Elements and stamped it in black right over my background stamping.  Some heavy edge sponging with Chocolate Chip was then done before wrapping it again with the black velvet ribbon.  I then used the same sentiment from Many Sentiments, only this time I mounted it inside a label holder from the Aged Copper Hodgepodge Hardware by SU.  The completed panel was then mounted onto the card with mounting tape. Done — another quickie!!!  And here’s my last for tonight:

damask-p2-540-wm-notime.jpg

Now this card has a bit more modern feel to it than the first two, and I like that!!!  The orange-ish paper is Desert Coral Light from the Prismastics Line by Prism — love their colors!!!  I again stamped that panel with Damask Positive in black ink, narrowly framed it in black, wrapped my velvet on the panel and mounted the panel on the card with mounting tape.  This fun sentiment, again, more nice fonts, is also from Many Sentiments and it is punched with a large oval punch and mounted onto a designer label punched black piece.  And check out that pretty little (I don’t know what to call it) THING on top — I LOVE it!!! It’s in Many Sentiments — actually, there is a second one as well with more scrolly lines — they will be so much fun!!!

So that’s what I have for tonight — remember the three new sets being released today by  Flourishes  (and they carry the velvet ribbon and dotted organdy as well) are:

  • Damask Positive
  • Damask Negative
  • Many Sentiments

Oh, and I should add that the Damask stamps are a full size background stamp.  Now I don’t have an acrylic block that large, but I was given a great hint a week or so ago — to use the C plate from the Cuttlebug as an acrylic block — well, I did and it surely got the job done!!!  LOL!!! Where there’s a will, there’s a way!!!  Thank you for that hint, Lisa!!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!!!  We have another great week to look forward to!!  I have lots on the agenda — I hate to make promises, but my plans are to do another index card for the Bible Verse challenge along with a box to keep them in, to do another Gift Set using the Cuttlebug and to make a box to keep those cards in, plus some more Flourishes projects and some SU samples as well!!!  Thank you so much for stopping in — I truly appreciate it!!!

Very elegant, Sharon. I like both of the backgrounds and I’m anxious to see the full sentiment sheet. I am always amazed at your cards when you tell how little you did to them…I know…use beautiful things and you get beautiful results. These cards are surely a testament to that saying of yours.
