Stamp Simply Challenge #22, Leslie Sketch

Before I begin, I have a Blog Candy post still active — please sign up here if you haven’t already.

Challenge #22 - Keyword ssnotime22 - There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload your project at Splitcoast and/or your Blog, anytime at all!  You can play as many times as you like!!!  The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!!  Please link back here.

Today’s challenge is a sketch – something I don’t usually do as I don’t know how to draw up those nice gray sketches for you - LOL!!!  But I saw this card a few weeks ago by Leslie Miller and it really grabbed my attention.  Her card was gorgeous, as always, but her sketch was a PERFECT sketch for a quick and simple card, so I asked her if we could use it and she graciously agreed.  So I have to link it here, so please click to see it and then come back here to read the rest.  Here’s her card.

OK, now wasn’t that gorgeous!!!  What I love about that sketch is the simplicity of the layers, but yet the main image holds such prominence and importance.  I love that!!!  So try to keep the layers simple, as Leslie has, and try to keep that regal and important feel to your main image.  I think this is a perfect layout for one larger stamp, but you are not restricted — you can do/use whatever you like for the main image — I just want you to stick to the simple layers/layout with the main image bearing such importance!!!  What I love about this, too, is that you can get away with stamping one image and you are DONE!!!

Remember when you upload to use the keyword above, followed by a comma.  Please come back here to post (as a comment) that you’ve played, and provide a link so I can check out your card right away. You can find all cards uploaded for this challenge by clicking Gallery Submissions Here.

Some wanting to play said they have never uploaded before.  If that’s you and you need help uploading,  just go to my Challenge No. 1 here.

21-bloomin-540-wm-notime.jpg

You’ll notice on my sample I have all the same layers as on Leslie’s sketch card, but mine are in different proportions.  The new potted plant from SU that I just really wanted to use was quite a bit larger than Leslie’s tree, so it didn’t allow me room to have the wide DP mat around it, so I just narrowly bordered mine in cardstock — but still — the same layout, just tweaked a bit to fit my image — and that’s OK.  I think you all know by now, I am NOT a stickler for rules — not one bit — the idea is to have fun and maybe get a few new ideas or try something new — nothing more!!!

Another unique thing about Leslie’s card that I loved is the way the ribbon is run — over the DP, but under the main image — love that look — so I did it the same way on my card!  I used mounting tape then to adhere my floral image to the card (over the ribbon), and I’m sure that’s what Leslie did as well.

  • Stamps:  Bloomin’ Beautiful
  • Paper:  Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, Watercolor, Spring Silhouettes DP
  • Ink:  Black Stazon, various reinkers in blues, greens and browns to color
  • Accessories:  Ribbon, Aquapainter, White Gel Pen, Mounting Tape

OK, now go ahead and make a statement with this simple layout and one important focal point!  Can’t wait to see what all of you do!!!  This is such a super, simple layout!!  It’ll be so much fun!!!!  As always, thanks for stopping in!!!  Have a great weekend!!!
