10 Minute Card

Today I am holding true to my name — No Time To Stamp — I shouldn’t have even done this, but I just could NOT resist the fabulous colors in today’s Color Challenge at SCS — Black, White and River Rock — three neutrals, but so striking when used together.  They create a lot of drama and contrast, which is what I so often strive for!  And this truly was a 10 minute card, now lets hope I can post this in the next 10 minutes and get back to the required tasks at hand — LOL!!!  Here it is:

I wanted to use a new stamp set from the Occasions Mini to have a sample on hand, and I know I did use the retired organdy, but gee, it just really needed it.  My loyalties always lie towards making the end product the best it can be, rather than trying to stick with the currently available product.  And this needed organdy, so I used it.  I stamped those pretty flowers (I’ve heard some call them weeds — LOL!) in black on a scrap, I thought the piece would work well for a long and low format, which I am really loving more and more all the time, so I went with it.  This card is 9 x 4 and fits a business envelope.  Added the black layer for contrast, the organdy and pearls for something pretty, and the butterfly embossed in Iridescent Ice for some glitz — done!!!  I like this stamp set, I like this card, I LOVE these colors, and I like this layout.  I’ll do more with it sometime when I have more time.  And I do want to add, the photo appears a bit washed out — the blacks, both ink and paper, are VERY black IRL — they look faded here, but no time to fuss with photos today — sorry.

  • Stamps:  Essence of Love
  • Paper:  Basic Black, Whisper White, River Rock
  • Ink:  Versa Fine Onyx Black, Versa Mark
  • Accessories:  Organdy, Pretties Kit, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, 1 1/4″ and 1 3/8″ Punches, Mini Glue Dots.

OK, back to cleaning and prepping for a class tomorrow!!!  Thanks much for stopping in!!!  I hope to have a little something to post tonight.

Oooh Sharon, this IS gorgeous! Very nice! You know, Hero Arts is coming out with a background stamp that is very similar to the “weeds” you’ve used here! I’m going to have to CASE your card when that stamp arrives!

Wow, don’t know how I got so far behind commenting here and in the gallery. It just has been a goofy, busy week. Anyway, this card is awesome. Love the pretty silhouette image and you are right…the organdy is perfect as are the pearls. Beautiful work as always.

I don’t think I’ve ever made a card in ten minutes. This is so pretty though. I’m pretty sure this stamp will be on my next order.

Gosh, Sharon, this is so pretty and I can see how it would be a quick card to make. I’d probably spend more time thinking how to come up with a quick card than it would take to make it–even more time, still, to photograph and post it! I admire your ability to make something this beautiful so quickly. You’re amazing!
