Flourished Baby

This is a gift bag and card I made for a baby gift. The only stamping is the word *Baby* in that ever so elegant font from Flourished Words by Flourishes. I used 2 different embossing folders in the Cuttlebug and a Martha Stewart Lace Punch as well as a small tag punch by Marvy. On the card I also used the rectangle Nestabilities by Spellbinders. The only papers used on this project are Almost Amethyst and White; however, I was very photo challenged today with this project and myAmethystis looking various shades in the different photos. Here is the gift bag:

This is a handled white bag from Wal-Mart, about 8 x 10. I covered the front and back, much like a genie bag. The center image is first embossed with the Bow Frame onto white paper which was cut longer than the embossing folder. Then I ran that same piecethrough the Cuttlebug again with the Swiss Dots folder down near the bottom. I then punched the lace with the Martha Stewart Lace Punch, and then framed the entire piece in Almost Amethyst. I’ve taken a more close up view so you can see some of the details better — here it is:

cb-baby-detail-520-wm-notime.jpg

Can you see the Swiss Dots inside the embossed package? I just cut a scrap of the Swiss Dots to about 1.5″ square and popped it into place. Fun!!! The tag is punched, mounted on a Pop Dot. There is an eyelet in the hole. Now, I know the next question is going to be — how did I get such a large embossed piece to frame the main image — right? I took a picture of my pieces as I think that makes it easier to understand.

cb-baby-pieces-520-wm-notime.jpg

OK, the Amethyst piece is cut to fit my bag (just a little overhang on the top and sides). The two white pieces you see attached are scraps, but they serve to make the horizontal band behind the main image. It doesn’t matter that they don’t meet as they get covered up anyway. Now to make the large panel to frame my main image — can you see what I’ve done? I ran two pieces through the Cuttlebug and adhered them together to make the size frame/matting I needed. These pieces are each 4 x 5.25″. Once determining how large I needed the mat to be, I just taped them together, then adhered my main image to my newly created mat. The seam is slightly visible, butnot enough to bother me — I think it blends in very well and the eye is drawn to the interest in the center anyway, not those tiny bits of seam. Now, that being said, this could have all been embossed as one piece as explained here, but I was using up pieces left from a previous project, so it’s just another way to get the job done! The entire matted panel is adhered to the bag with mounting tape.

Looking back up at the full view of the bag, I ran a long strip through the Cuttlebug and then punched the lace with the Martha Stewart Punch. I thought that bottom row of lace added so much to the bag. If you are wondering how I got such a long row of Swiss Dots, click here where I explained it on an earlier project. And here’s the card I made to coordinate:

This is pretty much the same as the bag, but I used the rectangle Nestabilities by Spellbinders to frame my embossed gift. Fun!!! I first embossed with the Bow Frame folder. Then I cut the embossed image out, and embossed it, with the Nestabilites.

OK, so much for this one today – thanks so much for stopping in!! Truly appreciate it!!!

Wow, Sharon!!! Both of these are so gorgeous and make such a fabulous gift set! And you’ve provided quite the seminar in using Nestabilities and CB embossing folders!!! Your talent and creativity just makes my head spin! I must ask you, how did you get the embossed rectangle frame effect on the bag image? It looks different from the frame effect on the card that uses the Nestabilities rectangle die. Thanks! Linda

sHARON, THIS IS STUNNING!! Oops, I had my cap lock button down, but I could actually shout about this beautiful ensemble!
I have a question about your blog. When I get an email saying you posted to mine, then click on your name, it takes me to your profile, but your blog isn’t there for me to click on. Why is that? I have your blog favorited, so I can get to it that way, but I usually just click on people’s names. How do you do it?
Also, my picture is magic-I do not look like that. It’s all lights and mirrors! I mean it’s me, it’s not photoshopped, but I do not look that young or that slim IRL! I am your average 44yo wife and mother of three. I need to lose 45 pounds and get a haircut!
