Stamp Simply Challenge #25 - Fun Flap

Keyword ssnotime25-There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload yourproject at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! You can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

The challenge this week is to make a FUN FLAP!!! (for lack of a better word)!!!! What I mean is a card that is only a flat panel or card front(does not open), but there is a little cardon it thatopens to reveal the message– like a fun little flap!!! There are no other rules — anything goes — as long as your *card* is just a flat panel and something on it *opens*. That’s it — have fun. And if I’m not making myself clear, please check out the samples.

This card by Laura Fredrickson (scrapnextras)was my inspiration. Isn’t it just the cutest!!!

Julie Koerber’ssample can be seen on her blog here.

My sample is below.

Remember when you upload to use the keyword above, followed by a comma. Please come back here to post (as a comment) that youve played, and provide a linkso I can check out your card right away. You can find all cards uploaded for this challenge by clicking Gallery Submissions Here.

Some wanting to play said they have never uploaded before. If thats you and you need help uploading, just go to my Challenge No. 1 here.

A quick and simple little card and, yes, the title is Fun Flap and I made a serious card, but I was in a rush and when I’m rushed, it’s this type of card that just *comes* — LOL!!!! But it just goes to show, this funstyle can be used in any situation at all.

The card base is stamped with the Damask Negative or Reverse background stamp from Flourishes, stamped with Versa Mark and gone over with Blush colored SU Pastels just to bring out the pattern a bit more. The little *flap* card is stamped with the Damask Positive background stamp from Flourishes, stamped with Versa Mark and then gone over with a pearly colored Pearl Ex. Love the little shimmer it gives! That little decorative bar on top of my flap and my sentiment are from Many Sentiments by Flourishes, and this has become my go-to set for sentiments. I just love all the pretty fonts in that set and the words are a size I really like!!! My Best Wishes fit perfectly in the SU large oval punch, and to frame it, I merely punched 2 more large ovals in black and adhered them to my sentiment, each just a little off-set to give a framed effect. The fleur de lis in the center is a punch by Punch Bunch.

25-fun-flap-opened-520-notime.jpg

Here’s a side view with the flap open. The oval sentiment is placed so that when the flap is closed, my oval serves as a latch to keep the flap down — works great!!! This was a super simple and fun style of card to make — hope you try it!!!

  • Stamps: Damask, both Negative and Positive, Many Sentiments, all by Flourishes
  • Paper: Basic Black, Blush Blossom
  • Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black, Versa Mark.
  • Accessories: Pearly colored Pearl Ex, Black Organdy Ribbon, Large Oval Punch, Fleur de Lis Punch, Pastels, Mounting Tape, Pop Dots.

That’s it for now — hope you all can play!!! Thanks so much for checking in!!!!! Have a great weekend!!!

Oh, my word! This is a wonderful challenge, Sharon! I was thinking how elegant this is and how well you do this style. Isn’t it funny how easily it comes when you know your style? Nobody does elegant better, and that’s a fact! I love the muted but, oh, so beautiful colors you used. The sheen of the Pearl Ex is exquisite!
