10 Minute Project

For the next couple days I’ll be working on super quick projects.  I need to come up with a few things that people can complete in about 10 minutes at a Make-N-Take.  This is my first attempt — not sure this will be one of the cards I do use — we’ll just have to wait and see!  Would this card make you want to stop and do it as a Make-N-Take at a show?    Please, be honest — it’ll help me to plan!  Thanks!!!

soft-lacey-elements-500-wm-notime.jpg

  • Stamps:  Flourished Elements, Lace Heart, Many Sentiments all by Flourishes
  • Paper:  Soft Sky, Black, White
  • Ink:  Versa Fine Onyx Black
  • Accessories:  Black Sheer Ribbon from Flourishes, Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Heart Nestability by Spellbinders, Large Oval Punch, Brad, 1/8″ punch
  • Size:  5 1/2 x 4 1/4

I do like this design — just thinking it might be too plain — I guess because there are so few layers — but it needs to be a 10 minute card — decisions, decisions!!!  I used a hand held 1/8″ punch to make holes to run the ribbon through.  The Heart is the Lace Heart by Flourishes, but you’ll notice it is smaller than normal.  I stamped the Lace Heart onto the Soft Sky paper and then I ran it through the Cuttlebug with a Heart Nestie that was smaller than the stamped heart — nothing to line up and much easier and quicker for a busy situation — plus, it’s fun to be able to use that gorgeous Lace Heart in various sizes!!!  The heart is mounted on SU Dimensionals and the sentiment oval is on a fatter Pop Dot.  I went over only the thicker lines in the corner flourish with the glue pen and covered with Dazzling Diamonds — love the sparkle, which is not showing at all in the photo!!!

Oh, and yes, everything will be pre-cut for the Make-N-Take, whatever I decide on, and the heart will be run through the CB with the Nestie, so it’s just quick stamping and assembly.

That’s it for tonight!!!  Thanks much for stopping in and, please, give me an honest answer of what you’d think of this for a Make-N-Take.

Sharon, I would absolutely stop and make it. It is beautiful and I love the simplicity. The colors are so in right now and very beautiful. I think it is a keeper for your make and take project!

Sharon, absolutely would I stop and make this beauty!!!! Are you pre-cutting everyhting?

  5. Kathieon 15 Apr 2008 at 7:23 am link comment

Yes, yes - I would stop and make it, it is beautiful and not too plain at all in my taste. The only extra layer that I might add is a black behind the oval sentiment to make it pop! BUT I would stop just because I would definitely want to say HI TO YOU!! LOL Have a great day!

Sharon—-I would definitely make this! Heck, I’d do just about anything to be able to meet you!! (Wash your car, change your oil, clean your house……) :-)
If you’re wondering about something to possibly add, what about a black layer beneath either the heart or the sentiment? Since you’re going to have things pre-cut anyway, people would just have the added step of gluing the two pieces together before attaching them to the card. It shouldn’t add much time to putting the everything together, and I think the black would really make it pop!
I’ve been trying so hard to be a good girl and stay within my stamping budget…..but I don’t think I can resist any longer. Those Flourished Words have got to be mine! (You’re bad…..bad, I tell ya’!) You’ve tempted me one too many times and I can no longer resist!
Good luck with your make-and-take. I’m sure it’ll be a huge success!
Have a wonderful day! Pam (4Hounds)

Are you kidding me! I agree with Pam, I’ll clean your house, wash your car, carry in the wood, anything to stamp with you! This is absolutely gorgeous as is, and I also agree with a couple of the comments, if you think it’s plain, pop a black accent behind the oval. Oh, I have wonderful news Sharon. I found that EK Success (who makes SU’s punches) have made an oval punch larger that SU’s large one. I’ll stamp it, scan it and forward the image to you to show you the difference using all three sizes.

Love this card - simple and elegant. I agree with the others on a black layer for a bit more pop, but since it looks like you used the larger oval for the sentiment, you could always just have them run the edges of the oval in black ink for a little edge around it.

On a different subject, I love that MS butterfly punch. Mike’s up here was out of stock so may have to go back another time as it is such a lovely punch - you enabler you :)

It is very pretty. I am guessing that all the flourish on the background is one thing. Otherwise I’d say cut back on that and add a bit more bling? The simplicity is actually really nice. Maybe a few shiny little crystals or something? Or something to accent the brad on the top of the heart. I like shiny things personally and I think there are alot of people who are also like crows or 3 year olds and get attracted by shinies!

I love this card because of its simplicity and few layers. It is beautiful in design and color and I definitely would make as a quick make and take. Very elegant.

This card will make them line up at the booth. The only frustration will be teaching everyone to make bows as beautiful as yours.

Sharon, if I was browsing along and saw this it would stop me in my tracks! I’d be stunned to find something this great at a make and take. No kidding! I’d say, if this is quick enough, then go for it! Wow! It’s gorgeous!

Yes, they will stop. It’s beautiful, don’t worry your pretty little head about it for one second longer! It isn’t too plain at all, the three shapes, three stamps and three colors all work together to create card perfection!

I’d stop anywhere that you were - you’re a celebrity! I love the colors and the layout of the card; I also think it would be cute without the heart and just a sentiment in the corner. Just a thought. Love your work!!!

I’d want to stamp a stack of these! I love the baroque look - I’m gonna have to break down and visit Flourishes and do some shopping! Always love your work, Sharon!

Sharon, I would stop and make this card. Its beautiful!
You said it may be too plain. If you want to dres it up a bit , how about adding a black layer to the sentiment or the heart or both.
I am all about layers,lol!!\either way , its still a beautiful card!

  33. Jamie Wilcoxon 16 Apr 2008 at 9:59 am link comment

Sharon, the card is beautiful and yes, I’d want to stop and make one! The only thing which I can think of which is fast might to be to ink the edges of the heart and the sentiment to make them pop. Other than that, perfection!

  34. Barbon 16 Apr 2008 at 3:28 pm link comment

Simple but sooo elegant… I agree with a few of the others too…it needs a black background on either the heart or the sentiment. I would go with the heart but……..putting one behing the sentiment is less paper!!! lol!! Guess it would all depend on how much paper you want to put into it. Either way it will stop the crowd and make them want to MAKE & TAKE!!! TFS Barb S.

It would certainly make me want to “make and take”…great colors and, of course, the heart makes it special. Your cards are all special…so much talent.

I know I’m behind on my blog reading, but if you still want to know I’d LOVE this card—I really like the simplicity and as a part time worker outside the home, I NEED 10 minute cards—I’d say pick this one!
