Stamp Simply #52 — Cuddle up with Tammy!
Hi everyone!!! Today marks 1 full year for the Stamp Simply Challenges! Thank you all so much for playing each week — we couldn’t have a challenge without players. Much Appreciated!!! Our week + long celebration continues, and today you have a chance to win a spot as a Stamp Simply Guest Designer for the month of November. Make sure to read about this at the end of this post.
Keyword ssnotime52 -There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload yourproject at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!)can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.
Todays challenge is Cuddle up With Tammy! Today it’s all about a warm and cozy homespun feel! Tammy has many styles to her work, but the style that just called my name was her warm, cozy, cuddly work, including what I wouldthink of as elementsof a sewn project. Tammy’s work often includes a small printed pattern paired with a solidpaper for a warm and cozy background, accented with what I would call a homespun quality — and by this I mean she makes her cards feel warm and cozy like a quilt — often incorporating the use of either machine stitching, lace, rick rack or a pretty patterned ribbon. And Tammy often uses the Cuttlebug as well to obtain texture, so that’s all good for today! I often feel like I’m looking at the makings for a cuddly quilt, or maybe even an adorable baby outfit, when I view Tammy’s work, and that’s what we’re after today, a card that has a cozy and warm feel — like a quilt or a baby outfit. Tammy has several samples for you to see here, but please treat yourself and take the time tocruise herblog, Stamp Happy, tocheck out some of her other work in cleaner, fresherstyles as well. It’s well worth the trip!
The above are suggestions, not all requirements — the only requirement is that you try to achieve a warm and cozy feel — a card you would want to cuddle up to!!! HOW you achieve it, is up to you! We can’t wait to see what you do!!!

Heres my card for todays challenge:
This was such fun card to make and it involves absolutely NO stamping at all! I used designer paper and chipboard stickers by K & Co. from Michaels. And I used a layout with the 2 triangular pieces just as Tammy so often does. Now, using triangular pieces is not something I normally do — but this was so fun and quick and easy I WILL be doing this again. My card is 5.5″ square, and my DP was cut to 5.25″ square. I layered the 2 pieces together and cut them (as one) on the diagonal on my paper cutter. It was so quick and easy, just aligned opposing points on the guide and they were a perfect match!!! I then just put a smallbit of adhesive on the center of each triangle to hold it in place on the base layer, then I went to the sewing machine and zig zag stitched around the perimeter and up the center diagonal. In fact, this was so quick, once I was cutting and sewing, I made4 panels, so I have some set to go for a few more cards. Here they are:
These are just the panel before they are attached to the card base. And I have one flipped over so you can see how I pull the thread to the back, then secure them down with tape. Loose strings really drive me nuts — LOL — just a *thing* with me!!! This is the 2-sided carpet tape I often use to adhere heavy pieces, so when it’s time to adhere this base to the card, I’ll just pull up the protective top on the tape. People often ask me about the tape I use — you can read about it here. (The post is about Christmas tags, just scroll way to the bottom to read the discussion on the tape.)
- Paper: PTI White, SU Sage Shadow, K. & CO. Margo, the other 2 unmade samples are K. & Co. K-ology Addison from last year
-
Accessories: Margo Chipboard Stickers by K. & Co., Sewing Machine, Thread, Vintage Button, Dressmakers Rick-Rack, SU Grosgrain, SU Brad, Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots Folder, Piercer and Mat Pack, Petite Circle Nestabilities and Tag 5 by Spellbinders

Wow, Sharon, that is really fabulous. Beautiful!!!
I am so inspired by you and your stamp simply ideas that I have decided to part with alot of things that are more complicated stamping, so I can get a few items I’ve seen on your postings this week, and hopefully make some simple, yet elegant and lovely designs. I love everything you do and as soon as time allows I will be really checking into your team and gallery and ideas, I can’t wait. I’m so glad I found you, I’ve been struggling with cards that take me hours, and not sending as many out to others, which is what it’s all about to me. Thank you so very much!!! 🙂
Sharon, this was a real challenge for me as I was not in the mood to sew;
however I tried and that’s good isn’t it? I love your card and the quilting look and also you tricky lady making extras for later…very cool. Have a wonderful Michigan weekend. Our leaves are starting to color and who doesn’t love that. Pat

I love to sew, just hate dragging out my old Singer! But since I need to make some curtains, I stamped & sewed first! So here is my submission:

Hi Sharon, what a fun week it’s been celebrating with you! Congrats on the one year anniversary of the Stamp Simply Challenges! Your card is gorgeous – so warm and beautiful! Love Tammy’s style! Here is the card I made. I don’t have any stitching (no sewing machine!), but I still tried to achieve a warm feel.

Have a great weekend!

All the samples are so pretty — warm and cozy. I figured: what better way to cuddle up with Tammy than with a quilt. Here’s my card — http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1052463?cat=500&ppuser=72594
Here is mine:

Your card is gorgeous, even without any stamping.
This is an adorable warm and cozy card, Sharon! It has all the elements just perfect for what you hoped to express. It looks totally made from fabric! Fabulous! I love the butterfly!
Great challenge, really stretched my brain which I always love, LOL! This is a Quintuple challenge card, if you can believe it. Us working mom’s learn how to multi-task, eh?! http://stampmom.blogspot.com/2008/09/julies-sketch-flip-color-combo.html

WOW- a guest spot on Stamp Simply Challenges— I think I would actually go outside and do a cartwheel if my name came up!
This was a tough one, but I liked it!! 😀
It’s cozy for me because of the colors (they remind me of fall, turning leaves, brisk colors, hot apple cider, etc.), it’s cozy because of the get well sentiment, and the distressed edges say cozy to me as well.
TFL!

Sharon, this is so beautiful. I love the stitching and your focal image is just perfect. I really hope I get a chance to participate in this challenge.
I’m having the BIGGEST fun with your anniversary party! I love your zig-zag border on this card, and what a smart cookie you are to make extras! My mind is now packed with warm & cozy ideas – I even dream about card ideas by the dozen! {I think they call that obsession, yes?} I’ve posted a few cuddly baby cards on my blog at http://creativityisgood.blogspot.com/2008/09/oh-baby-ssnotime52.html. All the warm-cozy creations I’ve seen are wonderful. Let’s all say it together — awwwwww!
I intended to make a card for this challenge and then I saw that Lazy Lizard was Featured Stamper on SCS, so the card I chose to CASE for that was made for this challenge!!! Did you follow all that? LOL! Anyway, my card for the FS challenge AND this one is here on SCS: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1054645?cpage=2 It’s also on my blog. Thanks Sharon!!!
I don’t think my two items will qualify as cuddly, but I love Tammy’s style so much, I cased her anyway!!
http://paperhugs.blogspot.com/2008/09/cuddle-up-with-tammy.html
Of course, this isn’t the first time I cased her, but it was a challenge I just HAD to do as she inspires me on a daily basis!
There may not be any stamping, but it is fabulous anyhow!! I love all of those wonderful papers, and all of your sewing!! Wonderful card, Sharon!!
another great challenge Sharon and of course I had to play again for Tammy this week!! Aren’t those KSS designers awesome?! 😉 Here’s my card for Cuddling with Tammy! 🙂
