Heres myproject for todays challenge:
Now, what did I do here to try to stay in line with today’s challenge? Well, here’s a list:
-
I tried to make this simple by using and getting my impact from pretty Designer Paper.
-
I accented with black to give it some POP.
-
I used wide sheer ribbon, black being a favorite of mine.
-
I relied on a large flower and a bird punch for the focal image, making the flower center a monogram for the birthday girl.
-
This is a clean card, no sponging, no glitter, but I did use black rhinestones to balance it all out. The black being so heavy against the Pink Pirouette, I needed to make sure the black was in balance.
-
And for a starting point — I went to the challenges. This qualifies for 3. Today’s Stamp Simply 56, of course, this week’s Ways to Use It to use a monogram, and last Saturday’s Sketch For You To Try done by Jen Del Muro. I love playing challenges. It gives you a starting point to get your creative juices flowing.

Granted, this card does have more *pieces* than I have been using of late, but I really liked this sketch, so I ran with it. It is still a very simple card — mostly cutting and layering paper!!! Not much stamping at all, and sometimes that’s fun, too!!
To make my monogram, I used the Curlz Deluxe Kitand mounted my letters on the stamper without a border. Omitting the border ring allows me to get my monogram small enough so that I can use my SU punches on it, which is another quick idea, plus at that size it is small enough to fit into the center of my flower. The actual monogram was punched with the 1 1/4 inch punch and the black border was punched with the 1 3/8 inch punch — perfect for my flower center! It looked a tad bit plain, so I added the rhinestones. What a quick way to personalize a special birthday card for a friend!!!
