Something Pretty —

Published by at 11 22 pm under General Purpose Cards,Inque Boutique

— just because! No other reason. I just needed to make a pretty card tonight. I just got a new pack of Amazing Grace DP by Flair and wanted to try it out, and a set I had received for my birthday was sitting there wanting to be inked — so this is what happened!

I think it’s pretty, anyway! I used Colorbox Chalk pads in the cat’s eye format to ink my stamp. These small pads work well for inking directly to the stamp. My image was then cut with the Long Rectangle Nestie and sponged while still in the die, creating the white border — a quick and easy treatmentlending some degree of softness to the image. I selected colors based on the sheet of DP used. I was happy with a match from Prism – Desert Coral Light. I layered my papers, wrapped with my ribbon, hung on a little tag, and made a stick pin using pieces from both JoAnn’s and Michael’s (see this post).

This stick pin is considerably smaller than an SU stick pin from the Pretties Kit, and I do enjoy using these smaller pins in a lot of instances. Please note that it is an earring back used as the stopper on the bottom.

I’m so glad you could stop in today. I truly enjoyed making today’s card and I hope you enjoyed it as well! We are really getting the snow dumped on us. Tomorrow morning will be one of those mornings that I’ll have to listen to the radio to see whether or not school is cancelled. Most of tonight’s activities around town have been cancelled, so we’ll see!!! Have a great day and hope to see you soon!

What a beautiful card!!! This is also the first I’ve learned of making your own stick pins! May I ask how long the stick pin is you used on this card so I have an idea of a nice length to look for? thank you!

  61. Jarie says:

    Sharon,

This is a great card. I also bought the items to make my own stick pins. My question is how to you keep them from flopping around on the card. Are you putting so many beads at the top and putting it through the ribbon and then adding more and then adding the earring back? Thanks in advance for your advice.

    Janet
