Stamp Simply #77 – Heat It Up!

Keyword ssnotime77 -There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload yourproject at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!)can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

Heat It Up! When I was first learning to stamp it was gold embossing that totally WOWed me, and I still love it, though I often just don’t think to heat emboss with all the other toys available now. So for today I want you all to pull out those heat guns and heat emboss an image that will create a card conveying SIMPLE ELEGANCE!!! So go ahead and Heat it Up! with a Simply Elegant card using a heat embossed image — anything else goes!!! Have fun — I know I will!!!

Alternate: For those of you who may not own a heat gun, you may play today with a dry embossed image achieved either by hand embossing or with a folder and Cuttlebug, etc. But please be honest and use your heat gun today if you have one!!!

Heres my card for today, using silver embossing:

77-heartfelt-embossed-480-wm-notime.jpg

I’m on a run of really simple cards, and here’s another! This is made with Heartfelt Thanks, a long time favorite from SU. I chose this two-step stampin’ set today because it is so quick and easy — the color comes from coloring my rubber with my SU markers, and the outline stamp is stamped in Versa Mark and then silver embossed, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line it up perfectly. My sentiment is also silver embossed, but it isn’t showing up the best in this photo. I tried to photo at an angle where you could see the raised embossing and its silvery shine — it kind of shows on the flower. Here’s a closer look:

77-heartfelt-embossed-detail-400-wm-notime.jpg

I just love the elegance the embossing adds! And I also zapped my sheer ribbon with the heat gun to crinkle it up. That is another thing I used to do a lot years and years ago but sort of have forgotten about. It really looks rather nice IRL, but looks like somewhat of a mess in these photos — so sorry!!!

And oops!!! I’ve been having a lot of those oops! moments lately. I made this card and am doing this post way too quickly as DS#2 and I are off shopping for a little kitchen remodeling project — well, I didn’t notice until viewing this card on the monitor, there is a stamp for the center of the flower that I intended to use — so just imagine a pretty yellow center in the flower — once again, sorry!!!

Love your card. I also got hooked on stamping in the very early 90’s after watching some embossing (back in the days when you used a toaster or the heat of an iron for clothes). Wow, haven’t we come along way with our tools and colors. Thanks for sharing. Cheryl in Reno/Sparks, NV

Lovely card Sharon. I do still use my heat gun a lot – never seem to do much with ribbon though and this card just inspires me to do that.

Beautiful cards on your blog this morning, Sharon. I’m still impressed with how heat embossing looks on a card. My card isn’t too elegant, which is what you were looking for; I needed a masculine birthday card today. But here it is: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1263941?nocache=1

  17. Pat Adam says:

Very pretty card. I agree about embossing, when I first learned to stamp that’s all I wanted to do but now I try very hard to avoid it . I did play the challenge and forced myself to emboss. Pat
