Blue Awning Bonjour
I just had to pull out Carte Postale after the card I made yesterday — it reminded me SO of cards I did when Carte Postale was new and hot. It’s still HOT to me — probably my most favorite set of all time. And this card today qualifies for 2 challenges — today’s Sketch Challengeat SCS, and for this month’s Dirty Girl Challenge due on the 20th — I’m just a few days late there — LOL!!! That challenge required us to use our favorite things. Well, Carte Postale has always been my FAV stamp set, and silk ribbonis my current FAV embellishment — just can’t get enough of it! You may view all the other Dirty Girl (current and alumni) uploads here. Here’s my card:
I’m really happy with it! And today I pulled out my Aged Copper Hodgepodge Hardware and my SU Small Oval Punch. Let me tell you, there is a lot to be said for how simple SU makes it — very quick to do and LOVE the look of the HPH. I also love the rich vintage look achieved with the Blue Awning DP by K & Co. I picked up at Michaels — great paper!!!
I wanted to show you this super simple bow to make. I used the 100% Silk by May Arts that I carry in the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. This is such an easy bow treatment. I just ran a length of the ribbon around the upper panel of the card and adhered it with sticky tape on the back, then adhered my panel to the card. Then I took another length of the same ribbon and slipped it under the ribbon strip and tied a knot and trimmed my ends at angles — that’s it! This silk ribbon is a dream to work with — you can twist it, pull it, knot it, unknot it, wrinkle it, whatever you need to do to get it right — and when all is said and done, it looks like a million bucks — ALWAYS!!! I am so hooked on this silk I just can’t get enough of it — and sorry if I am boring you of late by using so much silk, but I just have to — LOL!!!!
Oops, almost forgot — there is a little boo-boo on that bow I wanted to point out so you don’t do the same thing. I didn’t even notice it IRL until I saw this blown up photo — but glad I spotted it. See on top of the card, left of the ribbon, the green matting paper is torn? That happened because it was pulled too tightly when I attached the ribbon on the back — I should have left just a tad of slack so that when the ribbon shirred up when I attached the bow piece it would have enough room and not pull so tight — so just watch that if you try this bow!
I haven’t used my HPH for so long and I love it — I will be keeping it out now so I remember to start using it again! Here I used the 1/4″ silk ribbon to run through the holes in the hardware — simple treatment that softens and dresses up this rather masculine hardware.
