SPRING HAS SPRUNG! - For some of us, spring is just springing and for others summer may be in full bloom already. But wherever you are, spring and summer are synonymous with flowers — beautiful flowers…Today’s challenge is to pull out your FAVORITE flower stamp and make a beautiful floral creation for us. You ARE allowed to use images or flowers from sources other than stamps (preprinted images, primas, etc.), just as long as some favorite flowers are the main focus of the project. Let us fill cyberland with the fragrance of beautiful flowers this week!!! That’s is — an easy one again!!!

Check out the great samples for the Stamp Simply Challenge today on the blogs of these designers:

Please bear with us as we are all uploading and linking on Thursday night.

You can see all Gallery Submissions here. Thanks, girls!

Here’s my spring-like flowery creation for today:

89-tulip-adj-color-480-wm-notime.jpg

Stamped Simply! Actually, NO stamping at all. To say life has been busy would be a gross understatement and I sure have been missing my stamping time. But when times are so busy, I still enjoy going down to make a card without using any stamps — just quick, use some pretty things and done! My tulips are a pre-printed image by Crafty Secrets (watch my store, I have some on order!) — aren’t they GORGEOUS! I used my Silk Ribbon, a little library clip and that was it. Not bad for a rush job! Didn’t take much effort, but still pretty enough to feel good about giving it to someone.

89-tulip-bow-detail-440-wm-notime.jpg

I wanted to show you a close-up of the little bow — it is 2″ across and I made it in just a few seconds using my Bow-Easy. If you don’t know what a Bow-Easy is, you can read more here and here. I am still gladly taking orders. My bow is attached with a glue dot. Making pretty bows has never been easier!

Stamps & Ink: None

Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, SU Soft Sky

Accessories: May Arts Silk Ribbon and the Bow Easy from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, SU Library Clip and Glue Dot, Glue Glider and Foam Mounting Squares from Joan’s Garden.

Thank you all so much for checking in. Again, I apologize for my absence. The Bow Easy sales have kept me hopping, for sure! LOL!!! I have finally gotten about caught up and have contacted everyone who wrote me (except if you’ve written in the last 24 hours or so — I’m getting to you real soon!). If you have contacted me about the Bow Easy or any other order and I have missed you — PLEASE email me again. With the large amount of orders and emails, I would never venture to think that I am exempt from making mistakes. Several of you left orders via comments on a variety of posts — those have been a bit harder to find and I’m hoping I didn’t miss any. Again, please just email me at ssj@up.net if I haven’t contacted you yet. There are plenty of Bow Easy templates coming in on a regular basis for everyone -no worries!

As far as my Dad, he was released from the hospital late on Tuesday and is home, getting stronger by the day. Again, I thank you all for your prayers — so much appreciated! There IS power in prayer!!!! Thank you so much for those prayers!

I have a specific project to work on this weekend, so I WILL be back soon with a card to share — so please don’t think I’ve disappeared from the scene totally!!! Hope you can all enjoy a wonderful weekend ahead!!! Thank you for stopping in!

And once I meet that goal, THEN I will make and post a card - LOL!!!Don’t know what the Bow Easy is, then read more about the bow easy here and here. Stamp Simply #88 - Red, White and Blue!

A couple announcements first:My apologies if this post looks odd or is poorly formatted. I have been having Blog issues all week long. They are being looked at by the men behind the scenes, but a fix is slow in coming. There isn’t much I can do but wait — so please bear with me on this frustrating issue!

Bow Easy update:I am still diligently billing and shipping. I am now billing orders placed on May 12, so I’m making a little headway. I am taking them in order, so please bear with me here, too. There was someone who wanted their order by May 30 for a function, and when I was out of town I promised I’d bill and ship as soon as I got home — and now I can’t find you — if that was you and you’re reading this, PLEASE let me know and I can still get it to you in time! So sorry –

To those of you who have written me asking to be on the list, PLEASE REST ASSURED YOU ARE ON THE LIST! I have not been able to take the time to acknowledge all your emails individually because if I did, I couldn’t get any mailed out. I WILL get to you all, I promise!!! Thank you for understanding!

Blog Candy winner:The winner of the JustRite Blog Candy posted a couple nights ago is Number 191 — and that was Sheila L. Here’s what Sheila had to say:

Prayers are on the way for your family. Its very difficult to choose just one setbut since I can only choose one, Id have to choose the caffeine borders and centers.

Sheila, Congrats!!! I tried to email you, but the address is failing. PLEASE CONTACT ME!!! And THANK YOU everyone who played along and for all your kind comments and prayers for my Dad — MUCH appreciated!!!

Keyword ssnotime88 - There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload your project at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! RED, WHITE AND BLUE - This being Memorial Day Weekend, patriotic colors come to mind, so let’s create today using red, white and blue; HOWEVER, you do NOT have to use the traditional flag shades of these colors - you may use ANY variation of these colors you like, as long as your creation contains some shade of red, white and blue. That’s easy enough!!! Hope you have fun!!! Can’t wait to see all your color combinations!

Please bear with us as we are all uploading and linking on Thursday night. You can see all Gallery Submissions here. What wonderful samples!!! Thank you girls!!! Much appreciated!!!Here’s my red, white and blue creation for today:

dap-grad-480-wm-notime.jpg

A masculine grad card in the traditional red, white and blue! This grad’s party is on Memorial Day Weekend, so I thought it would fit. All images are gold embossed. The card is personalized with both the graduates initials and year, but by using the graduation border from one of the new JustRite sets, Favorite Occasions Set, this still lends itself to being a rather fast card. I like to use the Pinking Circles Nesties for grad/school themed cards a I think it makes the circular image look like a badge or medallion a student might receive for achievement — makes it fun! Then adding 3 strands of the 1/4″ Silk Ribbon adds to the medallion look. Here’s what I used:

dap-grad-product-440-notime.jpg

Times New Roman Uppercase Font was used for both the monogrammed medallion center as well as the year. The monogram was used on a 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper and the 2009 was used on a Rectangle Stamper. I punched the monogram with an SU 1 1/4″ punch. The Congrats border is from the new Favorite Occasions Set, also used with the 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper. My border of cap/diploma images is also from the new Favorite Occasions Set, stamped repeatedly and embossed to create the border strip, also used on the 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper. That’s about it — not difficult at all, yet this simple personalization makes it so special to the recipient! And I also LOVE gold or silver embossing on graduation cards — it classes them up so nicely — after all, graduation is an event deserving of something special!

Stamps: Favorite Occasions Set used on the 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper; Times New Roman Uppercase Font used on the Harmony Rectangle Stamper.

Paper: SU Night of Navy, Real Red, White

Ink: Versa Mark

Accessories: Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder by Ranger; 1/4″ Silk Ribbon by May Arts from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, Stamp-a-ma-jig (to place the 2009); SU Corner Rounder and 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, Dimensionals; Petite Circle Nestabilities and Pinking Circle Nestabilities by Spellbinders; Glue Glider.

Thank you so much for stopping in today, for bearing with me through my lack of posts and for these unsightly blog problems I’ve been having. Hopefully everything will get on a better track real soon! My Dad was moved today from ICU to a regular bed and is improving slowly. Your prayers are so appreciated — thank you so much! And spring is coming here, slow but sure, and that’s a good thing! Wishing you all a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend with family and friends! See you soon!

Finally Back with an Update and Blog Candy!

Published by notimetostamp under Announcements, Blog Candy

Hi everyone - I’m FINALLY back! I was here and ready to go yesterday, as promised, but, wouldn’t you know, my Blog was down. I guess the powers that be were making improvements, so that is a good thing. I think I’m up and running normally now - I guess I’ll see if this works!!!A Bow Easy Update: Many of you have written during my computer down-time asking to be put on the waiting list. REST ASSURED, YOU ARE ON THE LIST, even though you have not heard back from me. I got in shipments #2, 3, and 4 of the Bow Easy and have been busy billing and shipping. I will get to you all as soon as I possibly can, I promise! I am billing in order of request received. I am still on May 7, almost to May 8 — just to give you an idea. I am approaching the end of those who were told they’d be on shipment #2. Once billed, I am shipping in order of payment received, trying to ship all within 24 hours of payment made –so far, so good! I ask for your patience — this has turned into a monumental job that I did not anticipate! But it is fun!!! I just can’t wait till I have time to cruise the galleries and blogs to see what you all are doing with your Bow Easy templates!Dont know what the Bow Easy is read here and here. You may still request to be on the waiting list by emailing me at ssj@up.net. And, YES, I ship to Canada, UK, Australia, Sweden, etc.On a personal level: This weekend we helped our oldest son move away to his new job. It was fun, extremely busy, and sad at the same time. We are so proud of him andfeel so blessed that hewas able to secure employment during these times. We praise the Lord for that! And on a sad note, while we were gone my Dad ended up in the hopsital with a very seriousemergency surgery and has been in ICU for many days. He is now ready to be moved to a regular room and things are progressing nicely, so again, much to be thankful for and weoffer Praise to the Lord once again!!! If you could please keep him in your prayers for continued healing — I’d sure appreciate it!!! Thank you!!!Helpout a good cause: My good friend, Tammy, is involved with a cause to benefit Alzheimers. Read her post here to see what it’s all about and how YOU can help!!! Thanks!!!Now on to the Blog Candy: Since I don’t have any new cards or projects to share with you, I did have a nice little pile of brand new, but soon to be retiring, product by JustRite, so I pulled out two of them to offer today as Blog Candy.

small-ovals-retiring-480.jpg

I am offering the Chique Stamper Kit (this is one of the automatic stampers) and the Harmony Classic Oval Stamper 1 Ensemble. These 2sets are interchangeable with each other. Included with these boxed sets you will receive a total of 10 borders and centers to fit the smaller oval wood stamper (included) and the Chique Stamper (included). You will also receive a 296 character Brayton Font Set included, in 3 font sizes. A reversible ink pad is also included with the Chique Stamper, along with a How-To booklet on monogram etiquette.

You may view the Design Galleryat the JustRite site for inspiration and be sure to check out all of their other fun sets, both current, brand new and retiring (with some GREAT prices).

This Blog Candy will be drawn on Thursday evening (5/21)and the winner will beposted with the Stamp Simply Challenge about 11 p.m. To be in the drawing, all you need do is check out the JustRite product and leave me a comment telling me which is your favorite set, or type of set (ie., monograms, font sets, colorable images, etc.). I’m just curious to see what you all are liking!

What’s next? Well, for this weekend I need a baby shower card, about 8 graduation cards and a birthday card. Well, it’s going to be tough to get those done, for sure, so you can BET they’ll be SUPER simple — LOL!!! Check back to see whatI come up with!!! And thank you all so much for your patience with me!!! Muchappreciated.Oh, and I shouldn’t even say a word till I try it out, but I have this idea in my head for another, totally different, use for the Bow Easy — just haven’t had time to try. But I REALLY do think it’ll work — I’ll try to get to that this week, too!!

Wishing you all a wonderful week!!! Thank you so much for stopping in!!!

Stamp Simply #87 - For the Guys!

Keyword ssnotime87 -There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload yourproject at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! FOR THE GUYS - When I first started stamping I did a ton of masculine cards, living in a houseful of guys, but I slowly got away from it and now don’t do nearly enough of them. Fathers’ day is still a month away, but we have all sorts of occasions to give those guys in our lives cards — so make a card for one of those guys in your life, but there is one more stipulationlets make sure our cards include either string, rope, cording or knots of some sort – which is what I used to include on guy cards all the time when I did them years ago. So pull out those *rugged ribbons* - LOL — and let’s create for those guys in our lives!!!

What wonderful samples!!! Thank you girls!!! Much appreciated!!!

Heres myguy creationfor today:

stringed-thanks-480-wm-notime.jpg

I think it fits the bill: masculine, string, knots, Stamped Simply! Not a whole lot to say! As before, I put down a narrow strip of red sticky tape across the card front and then wrapped my string on top of it — holds the string perfectly!!! I like this rugged look on a guy card. I was happy to be able to make my own THANKS in a size I wanted by using my JustRite Times New Roman Uppercase Font. Simple card — enough said!

Stamps: Times New Roman Font Uppercase used on the Harmony Rectangle Stamper by JustRite.

Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, Granola DP by Basic Grey.

Ink: VersaFine Vintage Sepia. ColorBox Chalk Creamy Brown.

Accessories: May Arts String from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, Red Sticky Tape, Glue Glider.

Shopping:

A Quick Cup of Joe! and Bow-Easy Update

Just a quickie — to get my fix — it’s been a long time!!! (My creative fix — LOL!) I had this pre-colored image and thought it would work for todays Color Challenge at SCS — Only Orange, Kiwi Kiss and Summer Sun. Not colors I would have chosen (probably ever — LOL!), but they reminded me of a retro kitchen, and I had these coffee cups already colored orange, so I was good to go!!!

life-before-coffee-480-wm-notime.jpg

Isn’t that just the truth!!! My image is from Smell the Coffee by Impression Obsession and my sentiment is from A Little Caffeine Set by JustRite, a brand new set with multiple borders and centers — so fun to work into any of your coffee themed cards!!!

Accessories: 1.5″ Gingham Ribbon by May Arts from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store; Petite Circle and Classic Rectangle Nestabilities by Spellbinders, Glue Glider, Mounting Squares

Stamp Simply Ribbon Store for May Arts Gingham Ribbon

Joan’s Garden for Spellbinders, Glue Glider and Mounting Squares

I’m so glad you stopped in today after my many day absence — sorry about that. It’s been really busy at home. Our oldest son who just graduated from college is moving away in a couple days so that involves a lot of work and I’ve been trying to spend as much time visiting with him as I can. Plus it’s spring, and this is a farm, and the guys are all so busy — I’m the chief cook and bottle washer, and that’s just about a full time job it seems — anyway, enough excuses — LOL. It was just nice to sit and make a quick card tonight! Thanks for checking in — see you soon!

Bow-Easy update: I still expect shipments 2 and 3 to arrive by the end of this week or very beginning of next week. Those on *the list* will be notified as soon as they do arrive. Shipment 4 should follow by another 3/4/5 days. If you would like to be put on the waiting list, just email me at ssj@up.net and I’ll add you. Read more about the bow easy here and here.

Bow-Easy Tutorial

Published by notimetostamp under A BOW EASY TUTORIAL

This is a Bow Easy Step-by-Step Photo Tutorial.  I realize the instructions prepared by the manufacturer that come with the Bow Easy are not the easiest to follow, and I prepared this tutorial to assist my customers in learning to use the Bow Easy.  This tutorial is available in larger print form to be emailed to you upon receipt of payment of your Bow Easy.  Just request it by asking — email me at ssj@up.net.

As an added bonus, you may view a Video Tutorial by Jerri Kay on using the Bow Easy as well.

You may learn more about the Bow Easy by reading this post.

Thanks so much for purchasing your Bow Easy from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  If you’d like to place an order or have any questions, my email is ssj@up.net.

I hope my creations contained throughout this Blog will help to inspire you!  You may click here to see some more Bow Easy creations.

BOW-EASY TUTORIAL

Written by Sharon Johnson, Stamp Simply

http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/

This photo tutorial is meant to serve as a supplement to the instructions that come with your Bow-Easy.  I think often it is easier to follow photos than drawings.  Please refer to the drawings that came with your Bow-Easy to see the 7 different leg configurations of the Bow-Easy, allowing you to make 7 different sized bows.

1-holding-332-293-wm.jpg

Photo 1:  Hold the Bow-Easy in your left hand as shown.  (These are written for a right handed person.)

2-lay-ribbon-332-wm-notime.jpg

Photo 2:  Cut about a 12” length of ribbon for practice.  I’m using a ribbon that is 3/8” wide.  It’s best to use a medium width ribbon for practice — not too narrow, not too wide.  Though once you learn, you can use any size ribbon.  I am also using a striped ribbon as I think that may help you to follow the placement and path of the ribbon better.  Place the ribbon across the legs as shown.  The short ribbon tail is to the left of my left thumb.  The remaining length of ribbon is off to the right.

3-come-across-332-wm-notime.jpg

Photo 3:  With the length of ribbon that is in your right hand, wrap it around the legs from behind, come up and across as shown.

4-down-and-thru-332-wm-notime.jpg

Photo 4:  Now take the end of the ribbon tail and run it through the opening between the legs.  You are going above the ribbon first placed down, down into the *hole* and through to the bottom.  It helps to do this if you cut your ribbon end at a sharp angle to form a point.

5-pull-down-332-wm-notime.jpg

Photo 5:  Once through the *hole*, you can pull it down from behind as shown.  Don’t pull it super tight, allow a bit of slack to insert the ribbon end through as explained in the next step.

6-up-and-thru-332-wm-notime.jpg

Photo 6:  Taking your pointed end again in your right hand, draw it up and pass it under the loop created in Photo 5, as shown.   (During this entire process your left thumb continues to hold the short, left ribbon tail in place.)  This is probably the most critical step.  If you don’t run it properly in this step, it just won’t work, so try again!  No worries!

6A:  I probably should have had another photo between Photos 6 and Photo 7, but my cameraman is gone and I can’t do this alone – sorry!  To make the transition from Photo 6 above to Photo 7 below, just pull on the ribbon tail in your right hand to make it tighten up as you begin to form your knot.

7-better-pull-tight-332-wm-notime.jpg

Photo 7:  Keeping your left hand on the same little tail it’s been on from the beginning, and keeping the tail you’ve been working with in your right hand, pull the ends up and tight as it forms the knot.  You are pulling up and away from you.  What you have just created and what you see in this photo is the back of the bow.  And it is also upside down, so to speak.  But adjusting those ribbon tails up, they will be hanging down when removed.

8-flip-over-332-wm-notime.jpg

Photo 8:  Turn the Bow-Easy over.  This is what the right side of the bow looks like.  Now merely slip it off the legs.

9-done-332-wm-notime.jpg

Photo 9:  The completed bow.  Tail ends were clipped after removing from the Bow-Easy.

There, now wasn’t that fun!  Each one you do gets quicker and quicker.  If you mess up your first time or two, no problem.  Just start over.  It won’t take long and you’ll be getting perfect bows!

To make a double-looped bow, refer back to Photo 3.  Just continue to wrap the ribbon around one more time before proceeding to Photo 4.  For a triple-looped bow, wrap it 3 times.

Again, you can use any width ribbon once you get the hang of it.  The link I am providing below shows a card I did with a bird and blue bow.  On this card I have a double bow using 1.25” silk ribbon.  The ribbon is wide, but being so soft and lightweight, I can easily squish it onto the legs of the Bow-Easy.  Once removed from the Bow-Easy, just fan out the 2 loops to your liking.  Also shown on this link are numerous sizes and styles of bows from single looped to multi-looped prepared so kindly by Jenny Gropp.  Thank you, Jenny!  Here’s that link:

I hope this photo tutorial has been helpful.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for purchasing the Bow Easy from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store!  Much appreciated!!!

JUST A LITTLE THING- Mothers’ Day is just around the corner so let’s make “Just a Little Thing” for Mom - or for whomever you please. Today we are making small creations — and the choice is yours! I LOVE working on a tiny canvas and when I do, I just see *vintage* in my mind’s eye (though you need not do vintage if it’s not your thing)! You could make an ATC, a bookmark, a small project with an Inchie, a tiny card (3 x 3 or smaller), a gift tag — whatever you can dream up — but make JUST A LITTLE THING today. Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!!!! Have fun!!!

And Id like to extend a warmwelcome todayto Deb Saaranen (Dream in Color)who isjoining us again, this time in the capacity as one of our regular weekly designers. Dee felt it necessary to step down, at least for the time being, so I was elated when Deb agreed to join us!!! Deb has previously worked with us as a Guest Designer and also as one of our *party players* — remember our parities - LOL!!! WELCOME, Deb!!! So glad to have you!!!

Just a Little Thing - Stamped Simply! The image is 2 x 3 and the overall size is about 6 x 2.5. It’s basically a bookmark, but not one you’d really use. It’s just kind of for decoration. I left the silk tails quite long so they can be tied on top and this can be hung on a hook or knob. Just a Little Thing! The image is prepinted from Crafty Secrets and the stamped image on the bottom is from one of the new sets soon to be shipped by JustRite called Tiny Words Set – it’s so cute and little — perfect for today’s project! These stamps are used on the new and tiny 1 3/16″ Wood Stamper.

JustRite Release #2 Blog Hop

New stamps and lots of great designers — love doing these posts!!! The JustRite Team is soon ready to ship so many new and fun sets and I can’t wait to check out all the projects created with them. I used a new set called A Little Caffeine Set, and it’s fun, fun, fun!!! Today I did a gift card holder with a somewhat masculine feel, but a couple weeks back I used this same set tocreate a most definitely feminine card. LOVE that a set is so versatile! Here’s my gift card holder for today:

granola-gift-gift-card-holder-480-wm-notime.jpg

A simple, but tried and true, fold I’ve used often. Start with a 1/2 sheet (5.5 x 8.5), and score at 2 and 6. That givesyou a 2″ fold on the bottom to form your pocket and a 2.5″ top flap. Quick and simple, just what I like! I used Granola by Basic Grey for my DP — liked these colors for a guyish coffee gift card holder! And I used 3 stamps from A Little Caffeine Set. Check out the background stamping on the photo below:

Can you see how I’ve used the coffee bean stamp to do an overall background stamping on the top flap? I thought it looked really cool on the Granola DP sheet. To get my Jute String so perfectly, I attached a strip of red sticky tape across the card front, then wrapped my string around numerous times, ending with a little bow. The tape holds it perfectly, yet is totally hidden!!! My focal image is cut and matted with Circle Nesties and placed on top of the Label 3 Nesties by Spellbinders — I like the look!

Here’s a shot of the inside. You can see how I’ve cut another of the Labels 3 shape and adhered to the inside to cover up the prongs of the brads — really cleaned up the looks a lot!!! And I used a Velcro sticky dot for my closure — self-adhesive — works great! I know there are also little magnets for this purpose, I just don’t have any.

Here’s a quick look at all the fun images and sentiments in A Little Caffeine Set. And you can see I’ve used two images and one border sentiment. You’ll need the 2″ Wood Stamper for use with this set.

Here I wanted to show you how I’ve cut out my images. I do not like when ink collects on the edges of the rubber, and by cutting off the excess rubber we can easily avoid that issue all together!

Thank you so much for stopping in here today, now be sure you hop on over to all the other JustRite design blogs for some GREAT inspiration using these fun new sets.
