Stamp Simply #91 - Half Circles

Keyword ssnotime91 - There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload your project at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all. You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!) can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

HALF CIRCLES — I love layouts that feature large half circles as part of the layout. I don’t have a layout for you to follow, but that is today’s challenge — create a card using a large half circle as part of the layout. You will create your own layout. I think it’ll be fun to see all that we end up with. Don’t get me wrong — the card does NOT have to be a circle or half circle, but there must be a half circle as part of the basic layout. You may make your circle with punches, Nesties, whatever. My favorite way to get a large 1/2 circle is to trace my Corelle desert bowl, upside down. Once cut, it is a perfect 5.5″ circle — great for a card!!! Use whatever means you need to get a large half circle.

Check out the great samples for the Stamp Simply Challenge today on the blogs of these designers:

Please bear with us as we are all uploading and linking on Thursday night. Everyone should be uploaded by Friday morning.

You can see all Gallery Submissions here. Thanks, girls!

Heres myHalf CircleCreation for today:

Another very simple card to create. It’s 5.5″ square. For my focal image I used one of the images from the Summertime Journal Note Pads. These are just THE most gorgeous images on a fun sized pad that you can cut out and use to make a pretty card when you’re in a pinch for time, or even when you’re not! I cut my image with my old dressmaker pinking shears that I now use for paper and I backed it with cardstock to give it more stability as I wanted to pop it up on foam mounting tape. My half circle was made as above-described, with my inverted Corelle desert bowl — I tell ya, it’s PERFECT for a 5.5″ circle! It’s traced with a pencil and hand cut, but by sponging the edges you can never see the imperfections of the hand cutting.

Here’s a closeup of my bow and a portion of the image. LOVE these beautiful images. My bow is made with 1.25″ 100% Silk Ribbon on the Bow Easy. When making a bow on the Bow Easy, it is always an independent bow that needs to be attached. Today, rather than glue dots or glue, I decided to tie my bow on, and I like it! I ran a length of the widesilk around my card, adhering under the image securely. Once my bow was made I placed it where I wanted it, then I took a length of the 1/4″ Silk Ribbon to match and ran the 1/4″ Silk under the wider ribbon, pulled it up and tied it in a tight knot on top of my bow. Once I knew it was nice and secure, with a pair of tweezers, I just moved the knot portion so it was under the bow. I left some tails and clipped them at an angle - see the 2 narrower tails? I like this way to attach my Bow Easy bow and will be doing it more often. This is a double bow.

    Dear Sharon,

You inspire me with your use of the Journal Notes…I too love that company. It is still cold where you live? Well, come on down to Austin, Texas where we are expecting a high tomorrow of 100 and probably the same percentage humidity. One would think there would be a happy medium somewhere. Hope you warm up soon–we won’t get cooler weather until late October.

    Very warm regards,
    Charlotte
