Square Monograms by JustRite

I can not even begin to tell you how I have waited for these new monogram stamps by JustRite — to me it’s like a dream come true!!!  I really LOVE the new direction JustRite is taking with its monogram sets.  And today I’m going to share the new 2″ Square Monogram Kit with you.  Here’s the first little gift set I made with it:

tlk-set-480-wm-notime.jpg

Isn’t that square monogram just to die for?  Oh, how I love this set!  Today I altered a box that was used as a table favor at a wedding.  It was filled with candy, but once being emptied I knew I’d have another use for it.  I turned it into a small gift box, something perhaps my son could use for his girlfriend.  She likes pink, so I went with pink even though the box was gold.  The box is merely wrapped in Pink 100% Silk Ribbon and tied.  I intentionally left the ribbon tails a bit long so when the box is opened there is enough ribbon there to easily tie it closed again.  The monogram was so easily made.  I used the new 2″ Square Monogram Kit.  It comes complete with the 2″ Wood Stamper, the Special Occasions Font and 4 Frames.  I can see so many possibilites with this elegant new set!!!  I’ll show it to you a little farther down.

tlk-card-360-455-wm-notime.jpg

Here’s a closer view of the card.  I used the LaCreme DP by DCWV as it had that hint of gold that I thought would tie the card in with the box.  To get it a bit more gold, I DTP’d the edges of the DP panel with Encore Gold Metallic Ink.  I used my standard and most favorite ribbon treatment, explained here, using the Bow Easy.  I cut my Monogram and matting with my Classic Square Nestabilities by Spellbinders and decorated the monogram with Kaiser Pearls.  I used an inexpensive corsage pin on both bows.  The tiny beads are from Wal-Mart or Michaels in the beading sections.

tlk-product-440.jpg

Here’s a photo of the product I actually used today. Since I’ve had them for awhile, they were sent to me without any packaging, but at least you can see the actual product contained in the 2″ Square Monogram Kit.  And actually, these products are available to you individually as well as in kits.  The Kit is the perfect choice for someone who has no font yet.  But if you have font already, then you have the option to purchase the 2″ Square Stamper alone, and you can also purchase a set of 2″ Square Decorative Frames for the 2″ Square Stamper.  There are 6 in that pack, four that come in the Kit plus 2 others.

Joyful Christmas Trio

This trio of coordinated Christmas cards using Christmas Joy by JustRite Stampers is super easy to make.  I like things quick and easy when it comes to Christmas preparation.  These cards are a  quick, quicker and quickest type of project - -LOL!!!  Here’s the trio:

all-420w-wm-notime.jpg

To make this project move quickly, I used the same image from Christmas Joy, stamped it in Memento Rich Cocoa and Copic colored the tiny leaves.  I used a Gold Spica Glitter Pen on the bow and a Red Spica Glitter Pen to dot over the berries.  The images are all cut with my Classic Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders.

card-1-440-w-wm-notime.jpg

This card is the quickest.  My image is merely die cut once, no layers, popped up on dimensionals.  For all these cards, my bottom dotted DP is cut 1.5″ deep.  Fun paper that I’m loving!  It’s the Dear Santa Collection by Kaisercraft.

card-2-440-wm-notime.jpg

This card was stepped up just a bit with the addition of a strip of 1.5″ wide Silk that is shirred under the oval with a strong double sided tape.  The focal oval is also matted.

card-3-360-x-447-wm-notime.jpg

This card is the most decked out of today’s trio.  Again, the bottom dotted DP is cut 1.5″ deep. This card is a side fold allowing me to wrap my Antique Gold Silk around the card front.  Instructions on how to do this type of fun and flirty bow can be seen here.  I used the Bow Easy.

focal-image-360-notime.jpg

A close look at this pretty image — it colors up so quickly!  There are 6 centers and 6 borders in Christmas Joy and it is used with the 1 3/4″ by 2 5/16″ Oval Stamper, which is the Small Oval Stamper.

product-360-x-444.jpg

Here’s a visual of Christmas Joy for you.  Love this set for Christmas.  It  has so many fun styles — spanning from the fun penguin to the lovely image I used with a vintage feel.

Please check out all the samples for fun projects at the JustRite Blog.  It’s a good stop!

Stamp Simply #111 - 3 Panel Accordion

3 Panel Accordion - Accordion cards are some of my favorite things to make, and that’s just what we’ll do today.  We’re taking it easy with just 3 panels today.  Your accordion may be as large or as small as you like it.  It may serve as table decor or it may tie closed as a little gift waiting to be opened. Anything goes — just do a 3 panel accordion card. But beware — they are ADDICTING!!!  Be sure to check out all the DT girls links to get some GREAT ideas and to get your juices flowing!

Keyword ssnotime111 - There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload your project at Splitcoast and/or your Blog, anytime at all. You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!) can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

Check out the great samples for the Stamp Simply Challenge today on the blogs of these fabulous designers:

Please bear with us all as we each upload and link on Thursday night.  Everyone should be up and set by Friday morning.

You may see all SCS Gallery Submissions here.

Now I must apologize for this very late post.  Today just did not go the way I had planned — it’s nearly 4 a.m. so I’m only going to post the photos of my project.  I’ll come back tomorrow morning to add the supplies and details for you — thanks for understanding.  Editing:  Added!!!  Measurements provided below as well!

111-acc-full-500-wm-notime.jpg

Journal Notes (Christmas),  Flower Soft Vintage Envelope Sentiments, Flower Soft Polar White, Flower Soft Glue,  SU Dazzling Diamonds applied with Quickie Glue Pen, Basic Grey Buttons, May Arts White Ruffled Faux Suede Ribbon, Offray Wired Ribbon from Wal-Mart, Hairy Yarn from Wal-Mart , SU Bella Bleu DP, Pewter Jumbo Eyelets and Felt Snowflake covered with Dazzling Diamonds

There is NO stamping on this project and it is so soft and pretty, IRL, with tons of texture from the Flower Soft snow on each panel and the glitz of the Dazzling Diamonds, which is lost in the photos — so sorry.

111-acc-front-440l-notime.jpg

All images are from the Christmas Journal Note pad I carry in the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  Here I’ve made my snowy border very textural with Polar White Flower Soft and added a bit of glitz to the birds and berries with Dazzling Diamonds.  Doing something on this order to a Journal Notes image would make a quick and easy card front for Christmas!

111-acc-center-440l-notime.jpg

This center panel is SO sparkly and glitzy IRL.  The bottom is the Polar White snow and the trees are all Dazzling Diamonds.  The piece is a bottom half (journal portion) from the Jouranal Notes pad.  I intended this panel to be where the giver would sign the *card*.  These cute envelopes are all from the Vintage Envelope Sentiments by Flower Soft, put on with an SU Dimensional.  They add a nice touch!

111-acc-last-440l-notime.jpg

This panel is the bottom half of the first bird panel from the Journal Note sheet (Christmas).  I am LOVING this 5/8″ Ruffled Faux Suede.  The pure white looks so good with a Christmasy/wintery theme.  It’s soft and easy to tie.  My buttons are all by Basic Grey.

Here’s the how-to for this sized accordion:

Cut paper 12″ x 5″.  Score at 4″ and in again 4″, or at 4 and 8.  This gives you the 3 panels.

Working on a surface with diagonal lines (I used my Scor Pad), use a ruler and pencil to mark your *peaks*.  Take to paper cutter and cut on your pencil lines.

Cut DP strips 4″ wide and adhere one strip over each panel.  Once applied, it is easy to now come with scissors and cut the DP along your *peak* lines - no measuring — super easy.

Apply ink direct to all edges of panels for a finished look and decorate away.

Vintage Baby Gift Card Holder

I love to make gift card holders and this is in a non-traditional size with a vintage feel.  In shades of soft yellows, ivory and a touch of blue I consider this to be gender-neutral, suitable for either a girl or boy.  And it is oversized, not made to fit into an envelope but meant to be given as is, either personally to the new Mom and Dad or at a baby shower, or how pretty it would be gently placed in a gift basket along with other beautiful goodies. It is made from one full 8 1/2 x 11″ sheet of cardstock and the finished measurements are 4 1/2 x 8 1/2. Instructions to follow later in the post.  But let’s take a look:

vintage-gc-front-new-480-wm-notime.jpg

I loved the vintage feel of this DP by SU (Bella Birds), so I added a border with a Martha Stewart Lace Punch and my 100% Ivory Silk Bow.  This image from the Baby Stamp Ensemble by JustRite also has a vintage feel to it that I love!

vintage-gc-focal-detail-440-notime.jpg

The image is stamped in VersaFine Vintage Sepia (it was the perfect shade of brown) and Copic colored.  Be mindful, VersaFine is NOT the ink you would typically use to Copic color, I just cheated as I wanted that color today.  My image from the Baby Stamp Ensemble was cut and layered with my Petite Oval Nestabilities, and Kaiser Pearls in Champagne were added.

vintage-gc-bow-detail-440-notime.jpg

Here you can better see the detail of the lace punched border and my bow using 100% Silk Ribbon, made on the Bow Easy.

vintage-gc-inside-440-wm-notime.jpg

Here is the gift card holder inside.  The large pocket can hold all kinds of goodies.  The top flap is held securely closed with a Velcro Dot closure.

 vintage-gc-product-notime.jpg

This is the Baby Stamp Ensemble by JustRite and the good news is — it’s currently on sale at the JustRite Stampers site!  It requires the 2 1/4 x 3 1/16″ Oval Stamper.  That’s the same oval stamper we’ve been using of late with Autumn Blessings and Thinking of You.  And as you can see in the photo, I always cut out my images to remove the excess rubber as it does have a tendency to pick up unwanted ink.  This solves the problem quickly and easily!

If you care to look, here’s a baby girl gift card holder in the traditional size I did with this same set nearly a year ago.

And quickly, here’s the how-to on this gift card holder.

Using an 8.5 x 11″ sheet of cardstock, punch a lace border along one 8.5″ edge.  If you start exactly in the middle with your punch, then work both to the left and right, your scallop design will be perfectly centered.

Score 2.5″ from the opposite short edge, and again 4.5″ in from the first score line.

That’s your basic card holder, now just decorate away!

15% off ALL May Arts Ribbon Spools

Yes, another sale!  The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store is offering 15% off the price of all SPOOLS of ribbon in my store — ALL spools!  The sale starts today and runs THROUGH NOVEMBER!!!   It’s my way of trying to get some really great ribbon in your hands in large enough quantities that you can make your Christmas projects without worry of running out or feeling you have to skimp!  Nothing says “Christmas” on a project more than some beautiful ribbon!!!

To place an order or ask questions, email me at ssj@up.net.  Thanks!

Please note the 15% off applies to ribbon BY THE SPOOL ONLY.  The reduced price is not on cut yardage of ribbon, though cut yardage is certainly available to you at all times, in any quantity you wish.

Please also note, I can not totally deplete my spool supply as I need to keep spools on hand to cut yardage from.  Depending on what you order and the demand for that particular ribbon during this sale, their MAY be a delay in shipping of up to 5 days.  I will advise you when you place your order as to when your order will ship.  Thank you for understanding.

And here’s a simple to reproduce Christmas card with a vintage feel using the Burgundy 100% Silk Ribbon, some non-traditional paper that I think works just GREAT for a vintage Christmas card and a single layer tag:

vintage-480-wm-notime.jpg

My paper is from Vintage Findings by Making Memories - I LOVE to use non-traditional papers and colors for Christmas cards!  The lacey border is a Martha Stewart Punch, I edged the bottom of the floral layer with a Gold Zig Painty Pen, and my corners are rounded using an SU Corner Rounder.  I applied ink to my paper edges direct from the pad using the tiny cat’s eye format of Colorbox Chalk Ink in Creamy Brown.

vintage-detail-440.jpg

My pretty tag could NOT have been any more quick and easy.  I used the sentiment and outer border from Christmas Joy by JustRite on the smaller Oval Stamper, which is  1 3/4″ x 2 5/16″ inch.  Using VersaMark ink I embossed the stamped image in Gold and added just a hint of color to the leaves with a green Copic, then cut out with my Classic Oval Nestabilties.  It is just taped on to appear that it is hanging from the ribbon — gotta keep it quick and easy, right?

The following items used on this card are available at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store:

100% Silk Ribbon in 1.25″ and 1/4″ (Burgundy) by May Arts and the Bow Easy

Christmas Joy and the 1 3/4 x 2 5/16″ Oval Stamper by JustRite

Classic Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders

I’m so glad you stopped in today — hope you had a great weekend!  We had a TON of rain and cold weather, but now have hopes of hitting into the 50’s this week, so that is very GOOD!!!  I have so many projects to work on this week - keeping my fingers crossed they all get done in good time!!! Wishing you all a wonderful week again — see you real soon!

Stamp Simply #110 - Feeling Square?

Feeling Square? - Today’s challenge has to do with shape — squares.  NO rounded corners on todays card — so that means NO oval or circular punches or die cuts — only square shapes.  The card must be square, any size, as long as it’s square and all layers added must have squared corners.  Only your small embellishments can be round or oval — so you can use buttons, brads, primas, etc. as embellishements, even though they may be round. So if you’re feeling a little square, today is YOUR day!!!  You know, it’s TOTALLY HIP TO BE SQUARE!!!!  Have fun!!!

Keyword ssnotime110 - There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload your project at Splitcoast and/or your Blog, anytime at all. You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!) can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

Please bear with us all as we each upload and link on Thursday night.  Everyone should be up and set by Friday morning.

You may see all SCS Gallery Submissions here.

And here’s my Square creation for today:

cas-square-snowman-360-wm-notime.jpg

A 5.5″ square card — Stamped VERY Simply.

Image is from Old Fashioned Christmas by JustRite, used on the 3 1/4″ Wood Stamper, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and it is Copic Colored — the square is 2.5″.

Sentiment is from Many Merry Messages by SU, stamped in Versa Fine Onyx Black Ink, my favorite ink for crisp and clean sentiments.

Double Embossed Lines are made with my Scor-It, spaced 1/4″ apart.  Using Perga Soft  makes your scoring tool just glide over even the heaviest of papers.

cas-square-snowman-scor-lines-360-notime.jpg

Trying to show you how deeply impressed you can get your embossed lines when using a Scor-It.  Makes for very professional looking embossed designs.

All items linked in the text above are available at the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

Thanks much for stopping in — it’s been an exhausting day so I’m signing off without much chit chat!

30% Off JustRite Monogram Kits

Yes, that’s right — The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store is offering 30% off the Damask, Curlz and Special Occassions Monogram Kits by JustRite while supplies last!  I think you all know how much I love these sets.  They were what originally drew my attention to JustRite Stampers in the first place and I’ve used them all repeatedly over the years, producing some of my most favorite projects.  I have these kits on hand for immediate shipment.  They are all in boxes, PERFECT for gift giving, so consider your Christmas gift list before ordering.  To order or ask questions just email me at  ssj@up.net, tell me what you’d like, then I’ll bill you via PayPal, and will ship to you upon receipt of payment.  Quick and easy!

Editing on Thursday a.m. — I woke up this a.m. to many, many email questions about the JustRite product.  I’ll answer the common questions coming in at the end of this post as many of you may have the same questions.  So scroll to the bottom to see if your question is answered, and this post may get very long (so sorry), but just hoping this gets the common questions answered most efficiently.  I’m going to edit with answers now, so have patience with me as I’m getting this updated.

But here’s the answer to the #1 question — YES, these kits are ready for you to use.  All you need to add is paper and ink and you can create.  They contain the Wood Stamper, the outside borders and the inside font (alphabet letters).  The Curlz and Special Occasions Kits also have 3 fun centers you can use!

#2 Question — YES, I ship internationally.  Let me know what you want and where you live and I’ll get back to you with shipping costs so you can decide.  My email is ssj@up.net

damask-kit-360.jpg

Was $18.95 - NOW $13.25

The Damask Monogram Kit is my favorite for quick, easy and classy single initial monograms.

The Damask Monogram Kit contains:  1 5/8″ Wood Stamper, Times New Roman 36 Character Font Set in uppercase 95 pt. font, plus bonus flourishes and symbols in a stackable type storage container, 3 interchangeable Damask borders.

k-all-cropped-480-wm-notime.jpg

This gift set of 6 cards and a box was made using the Damask Monogram Set, however, I used Special Occasions Font from the Special Occasions Monogram Set.  Times New Roman Font comes with the Damask Monogram Set, but as with all JustRite product, all fonts are interchangable, expanding your options.  I made this Gift Set last year for the JustRite Blog, and you can read directions to recreate this project here, complete with a tutorial on making the box!

curlz-kit-360.jpg

Was $24.95 - NOW $17.45

The Curlz Monogram Kit is a fun set with a whimsical font that I especially like when creating projects with a light-hearted feel!

The Curlz Monogram Kit contains:  1 5/8″ Wood Stamper, 3 interchangeable Borders, 3 interchangeable Centers, 1 95 pt. Curlz Alphabet Set with Symbols and Flourishes, 2 50 pt. Curlz Alphabet Sets with letters (including extra vowels), numbers and symbols, all in a stackable storage type container.  The centers are:  Happy Birthday to you!, Congrats! You did it! (graduation), and It’s a Party!

mono-100-trio-480-wm-notime.jpg

I created this fun monogrammed trio by once again combining kits. I used the same border again (gosh, think I like that border?) from the Damask Monogram Kit and combined it with Curlz Font from the Curlz Monogram KitYou can read more about how I made this project on my Blog here.  It even tells you how I did this bow treatment.  But this post give you photos of how I do this bow treatment, if you’d like to see.

spec-occ-kit-360.jpg

Was $24.95 - NOW $17.45

The Special Occasions Monogram Kit has an elegant font that I am especially fond of for use on weddings projects or anything a bit more formal - just lovely!

The Special Occasions Kit contains1 5/8″ Wood Stamper, 3 interchangeable Borders, 3 interchangeable Centers, 1 95 pt. Special Occasion Alphabet Set with Symbols and Flourishes, 2 50 pt. Special Occasion Alphabet Sets with letters (including extra vowels), numbers and symbols, all in a stackable storage type container.  The centers are:  Best Wishes, You’re Invited, Cherish.

sab-group-499-x-440-notime.jpg

I created this set for a gift about a year ago and oh yes, the same border again from the Damask Monogram Kit.  Honestly, I had NO idea I was using the same border over and over again — too funny!!!  This time I used the Special Occasions Font from the Special Occasions Monogram KitYou can read this post on my blog for further details and close up photos.

Thank you so much for stopping in today.  And if you do think you’d like some Monogram Kits either for yourself or as a gifts, remember that I have lots of pretty ribbon as well as Kaiser Pearls and Rhinestones to add to your monogrammed projects!   And I do ship internationally as well — in fact, I LOVE to ship to new countries — it’s fun!!!  Feel free to email me for postage quotes at ssj@up.net

Thanks much — hope to see you soon — I’ll post our Stamp Samply Challenge late on Thursday night as usual!!!  Have a GREAT day!

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

#1)  YES, the above kits are complete.  Just add paper and ink and you can create!

#2)  YES, I do ship internationally.   Email me your list, your address and I’ll get back to you with a postage price.  My email is ssj@up.net.

#3) YES, you can use the 1 5/8″ Wood Stampers in these Monogram sets with other stamps.  Any stamp set made by JustRite that says it fits the 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper will work with the stampers in these Monogram Kits.  So, YES, A Merry Little Christmas Set, selling for $15.95 is a logical add-on so you can make Christmas cards.  Here it is:

a-merry-little-christmas-308-x-360.jpg

#4)  So, you want to make personalized Christmas cards or tags like these.  What else do you need to buy?

full-tag-230-w-notime.jpgpr-foc-trio-all-250-w-notime.jpg

Tag details can be seen here.  Card trio details can be seen here.

To make either of these projects you need to have:

1) 2″ Wood Stamper with Bonus 15 pt Font and Center - $14.95

2) Holiday  Demi Phrases - $12.95

3) A Merry Little Christmas - $15.95

The above three products are shown in the photo below.

product-focus-trio-product-250-w.jpg

#5) You purchased some Font Sets when JustRite had their huge Font Sale a while back.  Do you still need to purchase a Monogram Kit to make monograms?   No, you don’t — All you need is to have a 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper which can be purchased separately for $8.95, some font (which you have already purchased), and some borders for the finishing touch to the monogram look.  The 3 Damask Borders are available separately for $6.95.  Another option is the From the Desk of/Library of/Kitchen of Borders, also available separately for $6.95.  Here’s a picture of those sets.

borders-damask-and-3-desk-360.jpg

sej-desk-of-268-x-360.jpg

This sample shows the From The Desk of border with a monogram in the center using Times New Roman Front.  Purchasing this set gives more options to any of your monogram projects.  Also, I made this card before I owned any Nestabilities — just so you know, you CAN make monograms if your only cutting option is a paper cutter.  My favortie Nestabilities by Spellbinders have come to be the Petite Circle, Classic Oval and Petite Oval Nestability sets.  I sell them in the FULL sets of 2 ring sets and 2 scalloped sets per package — for a total of 4 sets per package.  I feel this is the best way to purchase them, giving you the most options and the most bang for your buck.  They are $79.99 per package. — photo coming –

Autumn Blessings Sketch

Published by notimetostamp under Autumn Cards, Bow Easy

Today I needed an Autumn Thank You note to send to some friends who did us a kindness.  The WSC102 Sketch this week was perfect for what I had in mind.  You can see the sketch here on Beate’s Blog.  Scroll down to Oct. 16th.  For some reason I couldn’t get it to direct link to that post.  Here’s my card:

Image and Sentiment is from Autumn Blesssings by JustRite and my DP is Cast-A-Spell by SU — LOVE that DP and even though I’m done with Halloween cards I find many sheets in that pack to be very well suited to Autumn cards.  My ribbon is MOSS 100% Silk by May Arts that I carry.  The MOSS silk is a wonderful match to SU’s Old Olive cardstock and DP’s.  Please note, I also have an Olive Silk, but the MOSS is the better match to SU’s Old Olive.  The bow was made on the Bow EasyPetite Oval Nestabilites were used to cut my image and sentiment (shown below) and my corner die cut is a Cuttlebug Corner Die.

Editing to add:  My 100% Silk Ribbon by May Arts is tied in my favorite fun and flirty fashion, made with the Bow EasyYou can read this post to see how it is done.

What a FUN image to color with my Copics!  And check out my Autumn Blessings Sentiment.  It was cut with a Petite Oval Nesties and just tucked behind the image oval — super easy.  BUT, on the oval border for this set, the Autumn Blessings sentiments that go around the border are NOT centered so as to give you the proper shaped curve to use the alone.  I tried to show you here in photos:

corn-blessings-autumn-top-360.jpg

This is how I put my outer border in my 2 1/4″ x 3 1/6″ Oval Stamper that it is made to fit, BUT it’s not quite in the way it was intended.   See how I’ve centered the Autumn Blessings on the top?  I actually have to put the border in the stamper about an 1/8th of a turn off from how it was intended to get it centered on top, making it fit nicely into my Nesties.  Below is how the border is made and how you’d typically snap it into the stamper:

corn-blessings-autumn-original-clarified-360.jpg

I know this photo is bad and it’s hard to see, but can you see how the Autumn Blessings that is inked is off to the right?  If you snapped this ring into the stamper in it’s original shape, that’s how the Autumn Blessings would be — not an ideal shape. By snapping it like shown in the first photo, you get a nicer curve if you want to use it alone as a sentiment as I have done in this card.  Also, when doing this, ink JUST the portion of the ring you want inked.  I always use VersaFine Ink for sentiments and it’s very easy to ink only a portion of the ring with the raised pad in the Versa Fine inks.

Masculine Gift Card Holder

A clean and simple gift card holder that is masculine, seasonal (autumn) and personalized with the recipients initials.  I used a collection of varying stamps on this simple little project, but they all blended wonderfully.  Here it is:

autumn-gift-card-480-wm.jpg

Leaf image is from A Year of Leaves by Melanie Muenchinger for Gina K. Designs (copic colored).  A great set for year round use!  Initials done with 60 Pt Font contained in the 1 3/16″ Wood Stamper with Bonus 60 pt Font and Damask Borders by JustRite.  Paper (Autumn Traditions DP), hardware and inside sentiment are all by SU.  I used a strip of White 5/8″ Double Sided Suede. I love this suede on guy cards.  It adds the ribbon touch we love, but without the fru-fru that guys don’t particularly love — LOL!!  The touchy-feeliness of this suede is wonderful and is very suited to an autumn card!  I want to add that I don’t typically like to cut my ribbon at the edge of the card — I prefer to wrap it around; however, with this suede ribbon, it cuts beautifully with no fraying or ravelling, so I did adhere it to the card front only and cut the sides — works GREAT with this suede ribbon.  It is all held closed with a self-adhesive Velcro Dot.  Here’s the inside:

Can you see the closure?  It’s my favorite self-adhesive Velcro Dots, and I just added them in 3 colors to Page 3 of my store.  I usually try to make my cards so all the hardware backs are hidden between layers, but on a CAS card sometimes that harder to do, and it’s OK if they show - especially on guys cards — LOL — they don’t care!  This has a nice little pocket to tuck in some cash, a check or gift card!

This is my favorite quick and easy Gift Card Holder template and I’ve used it dozens of times.  I originally got the measurements from an SCS challenge years ago.  Start with a 1/2 sheet of paper - 8.5 x 5.5 - and using my Scor-It I scored in 2″ from one short edge and 2.5″ in from the other short short edge.  When folded, the 2.5″ flap is the top while the 2″ flap is the pocket (adhere on the sides with red sticky tape).  Then just decorate away.  This is a GREAT little template that comes in so handy time and time again.

A Sketch and a Chance to Win!

Today I made a Christmas Gift Tag for this week’s 2 Sketches 4 You weekly sketch challenge.  JustRite Stampers is sponsoring this week’s sketch and they are offering a $100 Gift Certificate to the weekly winner. I’m a bit late in playing myself, but you still have until midnight, Mountain Time, tonight (Sat., 10/17) to enter if you haven’t already.  It’s a fun sketch, it’s fun to play and you JUST might be the lucky winner.  Check it all out here.

full-tag-480-notime.jpg

I followed the sketch provided to make my Christmas Gift Tag, personalized with our family name and year.  This tag is all set to be adhered to a box or have another length of ribbon run through it and tied to a bag.  The small blank tag on top is all set for me to write in the name of the recipient.  I’ll add this to my stash for use this Christmas season!

candle-detail-360w.jpg

Here’s a closeup of my focal image.  I think it’s so pretty in these colors.  The paper is all Fruitcake by Basic Grey, a 12 x 12 pack.  In those packs you get a sheet of tags.  The large tag I used was one of those tags you just punch out — easy and fun!  My image is colored with Copics and as I wanted white candles I just colored them with a Spica Clear Glitter Pen and they are SO pretty IRL.  I used Petite Circle Nestbilites to do all my cutting and Kaiser Pearls in Snow for the accents.  I like to use Versa Fine Onyx Black for crisp and clear sentiments and I used Memento Tuxedo Black for my image that was to be Copic colored.  My ribbon is 100% Silk by May Arts — totally scrumptious!

candle-tag-product-480-notime.jpg

These are the 3 sets I used to make my focal image.  The 2″ Wood Stamper with Bonus 15 pt Font was used to create my personalized message, “From the Johnsons 2009″, along the bottom of the border.  I use one of the Holiday Demi Phrases, Warm Winter Wishes,  along the top of the border.  My pretty trio of candles comes from a Merry Little Christmas Set, used on the 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper

candle-tag-stampers-480.jpg

Here’s how I set up my stampers.  Now, some of you may remember, several weeks back I set up the 2″ Stamper with our name and date.  And I left it, and I will leave it until the Christmas season is over. It is all set for me, whenever I need it.  (That’s the advantage of having more than one 2″ Stamper on hand!) I used a Holiday Demi Phrase on top, and I can quickly change that out to suit the theme of my project.   My pretty candle image is on a 1 5/8″ Wood Stamper.  And please note that I did cut the image out.  It was a circle, but I cut off the excess rubber along the edges.  That rubber sometimes has a tendency to pick up ink from the ink pad and leave ink marks on your paper, so to avoid that it’s easy enough to just cut it off!  Don’t be afraid to cut your JustRite stamps!
