A Special Gift…

…must have special wrapping!  This altered gift bag and card were made at the request of one of my sons.  Being the only female in a house filled with guys for the last 25 years, I am getting the biggest kick out of my boys now coming home and asking me to make pretty things, complete with pink and bows!  Absolutely — I am HAPPY to oblige!!!  Here’s the Wal-Mart gift bag that I altered and the card I made to go along with it:

I hope she likes it!  This gold foil gift bag came with satin ribbon handles that I loved.  I used LaCreme DP by DCWV to make the monogrammed bag front and the coordinating card.  The black floral lower paper is flocked and I DTP’d the edges of both patterns with Gold Encore ink to finish them off and tie them in a bit more with the gold foil bag.  This is the 2nd project where I’ve used the LaCreme DP with pink accents, and I do really like the combination.  And, of course, I had to use my 2″ Square Monogram Kit by JustRite Stampers once again.  I love personalizing projects with monograms and I just can not keep this new square set out of my hands.  There is just something about these larger square monograms that I find so appealing, both to work with and to look at.  Here’s a visual of the set:

I’m showing you both the front and back of the packaging.  All the JustRite monogram sets now come in the new clam shell packaging.  It’s nice to be able to see the actual product through the packaging!  This 2″ Square Monogram Kit gives you all you need to start creating beautiful projects.  Included is the 2″ Square Stamper, 4 Square Frames and Special Occasions Font (which is one of my favorite and most used fonts).  Just add paper, ink, ribbon and a few embellishments and away you go!

My double initial monogram is made with one of the more ornate frames in the set, stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black ink.  It is simply cut and matted using my Classic Square Nestabilities by Spellbinders.  The ribbon is pink 100% Silk Ribbon by May Arts.  The bow is made on the Bow Easy.  This ribbon treatment is shown here.  The entire panel is adhered to the bag with foam mounting squares.

And here’s the coordinating card.  The cardstock used is SU’s Pink Pirouette and Basic Black.  This is a standard top fold A2 size, 4.25 x 5.5″.

And here’s a closer look at the monogram.  Can you see just the hint of Gold Encore ink I DTP’d directly to the monogram edges?  The sparkly light pink Kaiser Rhinestones add some glitz and glam!

    Hi Sharon,
Wow what an extremely classy bag and card you have made. At first glance I thought the card was the cover for a box of cards – wouldn’t that be a great idea for a gift, a box of cards in a gold bag? Wow. I wouldn’t mind being the recipient of a gift like that!!!
This card and matching bag has such elegance that it might be scary to touch it and fingerprint it!!!
As usual Sharon, what wonderful work you do and what inspiration you give to others like myself.
    Sincerely,
    Margaret T.

    Mrs. Johnson,
Thank you so much for making the beautiful bag and card!! I absolutely LOVE and adore them! Everything from the design and color scheme, to the rhinestones and bow is perfect! Pink is my favorite color, and it’s so cute with the precious bow. The rhinestones were an elegant touch too – they remind me of putting stones on all of my dance costumes growing up. I definitely had a hard time opening the gift bag because the bag and card alone were such a sweet gift! When I showed my mom, she became instantly jealous! I really enjoy crafts, scrapbooking, and making things but I just wish that I had more time to do it. At least I can enjoy my bag and card – I have them both sitting on my desk right now to enjoy for decoration! Thank you again!! ~Marissa
