I love altering these tall tubular cookies tins — just love the shape! They lend themselves very well to *getting all dressed up*!!!  This is one I did a year ago or more, but I had to pull the photos and tutorial as it ended up in a magazine, but since it’s old news now, I’ll just give you a quick overview of a few pictures here today once we’re talking about these tall tins:

I originally created this as a tin to hold a portion of my huge collection of vintage buttons.  The design element here that I so loved was the vertically scored cardstock, easily done using my full sized Scor-It Score Board.  The Scor-It gives you a really nice deep score line, lending itself very well to this type of project. (I currently have both the 12″ Full Sized and the Mini Scor-It Boards on sale for 20% off).

The stamped image is from a JustRite set that is now retired.  I really liked this particular stamp and I used it often.

The focal image *Inspired* is also from a retired JustRite set, but something similar could also be done using your JustRite Font.

OK, now on to the project I just created, using a very similar can.  I’m buying these cookies from Wal-Mart, so the cans are readily available, and the cookies aren’t too bad either!!!  Here’s the finished view of my most recent tall cookie tin:

Tried to get an overview here.  All stamps used are by JustRite, the 2″ Deluxe Round Monogram for the focal image and a sentiment from Old Fashioned Christmas on the lid.  All cutting was done with my Petite Circle Nestabilities by Spellbinders.

Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in 2 widths, Velvet Ribbon  in 2 widths, both by May Arts, and some wide lace reclaimed from an old pair of curtains.  I’m always getting *good stuff* from old curtains!  Paper is 12 x 12 Dear Santa DP by Kaiser, along with Kaiser Pearls.

This is the right side view.  I love tying ribbon off to the side.  This was simply wrapped around the can and tied.  The knot was rather bulky, so I dressed it up and softened it with they pretty flowers I picked up at Michaels.  The trick to getting them to stay on is using Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue.  Just hold, press and be patient.  Once it takes, it’ll never come off.
