Another Shabby Tea Room Challenge

I have lots of ground to cover again tonight and I’ll start with my card. I absolutely LOVED the inspiration photo for this week’s challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room, called The Comforts of Home. The colors, the patterns, the homey, cozy warmth — loved it all. Here’s the photo:

Isn’t that a great photo! So, of course, I had to make a card! What I mentally took with me to my stamp room from that photo were the soft blues and browns and a clean, fresh, yet vintage, linen closet feel. This is what I came up with:

This card pleased me immensely! I LOVE these colors. The designerpaper is from Blue Awning by K & Company. The cardstock is SU Very Vanilla and Soft Sky. It’s a very simple layout with simple layers.

My sentiment is from HOPE by JustRite, used on a 2″ Square Stamper. The ornamentation behind the sentiment is a die cut from Spellbinder’s Fancy Tags. It was too long, so I cut it in the middle to make it smaller. I used a light brown chalk ink to accent and VersaFine Vintage Sepia for my sentiment.

I dug out this old HOPE stamp from SU, in a set called Wonderful Words II. I thought it was the perfect addition here and I’ll likely be keeping it out to use more often with JustRite’s new HOPE set.

I tea dyed the narrow Crochet Lace (a post showing other tea dyed results will come in a day or two), and I ran some 1/8″ Blue Silk through the center. My large bow is a double bow made on the largest legs of the original Bow Easy, using 1.25″ Blue Silk. It sits atop a trio of flowers that I pulled from some pretty floral picks I found in the bridal section of Michaels. The flowers and ribbon are very securely glued on using my Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue that I pick up at Wal-Mart.

On a personal note:

I just received this picture of my Dad via email from my sister. She took it today, and I see she brought one of her dogs, Quincy, along for the visit!

He is looking so good and gaining much strength. Hopefully in a few weeks he can come home! Please continue to hold him up in your prayers. He’s come an amazinglylong way, but still has a ways to go! Again, I can’t express enough how grateful I am to all of you for your prayers and words of encouragement. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

Hope you all can enjoy your Sunday — see you real soon with some samples of ribbon I tea dyed!

Wow Sharon, when I saw the picture my thought was your dad sure looks too good to be in a hospital, really good. And Quincy, well Quincy seemed to fit right in and looks so comfy and content as if he belongs right there with your dad and for sure he has brought a huge smile and great happiness to your dad.

What hospital is your dad in, it has better bed linens than the last 9 I’ve been in! Maybe when I go back the end of this month for 5 days they’ll have new ones for me too. Yeah right…. LOL….

But all kidding aside Sharon, your dad is looking very good and remember that God is watching over you too. Take care and keep us posted while we continue our prayers for you and yours.

Your sister should be praised Bringing Quincy will help with recovery. I speak from personal experience. My mother was in a recovery center for a mnth. Daily I would come see her and bring my dog, Missy. It got to be that I had to take Missy to certain rooms daily as she had a “fan club”. Unfortunately, some were bed bound and hooked up to machines. I saw heartbeats slow when I put Missy into bed with them.
