Thrift Shop Kit & Prayer/Card Request

Happy Mother’s Day to all you ladies out there — mothers or not.  Today is a day to celebrate us all — hope you had a wonderful day!  We did our usual Sunday routine of church, coffee at church, then brunch/lunch out, then we went to visit my Dad.  I’ll give you his updated status at the end of this post.  Then a quick run through Wal-Mart and home again!

Several of you have requested KITS made up with the Thrift Shop DP by October Afternoon. It has been on my list of things to do for several weeks now, and today I finally got to it.  This is a FUN pad of paper, IMO, because it has such a variety of prints and colors, ranging from small vintage prints to larger more graphic prints, with a fun mix of sheet music, newsprint and dress patterns added in as well.  Very much a *thrift shop* assortment of fun papers!  Here’s what I put together:

A request for your continued prayers, and cards if you can —

Since last updating here, my Dad did have all toes on the left foot amputated on Friday morning.  It appears to be healing well.  He has not yet been allowed to try to step on it.  Maybe tomorrow.  We are all hoping that no further surgery is needed on this foot — that would mean cutting it off up higher.  Time will tell.  It does appear that surgery is likely needed on the other foot as well.  They are just watching and waiting.

I can’t thank you all enough for all your prayers and well wishes, and I ask that you continue to keep my Dad on your prayer list.  My Dad’s attitude is super good at this point and with all he’s been through in the last month, I am amazed — truly the work of an awesome God!

If you’d care to send a card to my Dad, I know he would be tickled to pieces!    He was an avid Ham radio operator before he had his pacemaker/defibrillator put in and was told not to do that anymore.  If there are any Ham radio operators out there, I know he’d LOVE to hear from you!  He spent his life working for Michigan Bell, later bought out by (gee, can’t remember — AT&T, Ameritech???).    Here’s his name and address:  Roy Peltoniemi, PO Box 317, Dollar Bay, MI  49922.

Thanks much to you all!  It’s very therapeutic for me to be able to share here — it’s just so tough watching this all happen.  I know so many of you can relate.  Many, many thanks!

Hi Sharon. Thanks for the update on your Dad’s surgery. I’m glad he is healing well so far and his attitude is positive. I will definitely keep him in my prayers. I will drop a card in the mail to him tomorrow. My Dad was a Ham radio operator, too. I will mention that in my card. Hugs and prayers to you, too, during this tough time. I know how hard it is to go through this with our parents. Happy Mother’s Day to you!

    Hi Sharon,

So sorry to hear that your dad has had to have surgery – I will put his name on our local prayer chains (one will pray every day for a week and another will pray each day for 30 days). We are also going to our weekly Life Group tonite and we will bring him before the Lord.

Keep cheerful and my prayer is that you will have an Ephesians 3:20 week. Continue to believe that God will do super-abundantly, far over and above all that you can dare to ask, think, hope, dream or pray!

    Lots of Love

    Lorraine Briel

    Hi Sharon,
I will try my best to get a card off to your dad. My husband (Danny Moss–KF4GZR) is an AVID ham radio operator and we have a huge tower outside his radio room on our farm in Nicholasville, KY….just south of Lexington. I am originally from north of Indy, but live down here in KY now with my hubby and our 6 cats and other animals:)

I will pray that your Dad heals in short order and that the Lord will keep watch over him and continue on with the plans HE has for your Dad.

Take care and have a great day. Oh….other than ham radio’s, does your Dad have any favorite hobbies, passtimes or anything else he truly enjoys? Perhaps a favorite bible passsage, etc?

LMK and I will try and incorporate that into his card.

    Sincerely,
    sherry moss
