CPS166 is SEW JustRite!

This week JustRite Stampers is sponsoring the CPS Sketch Challenge and it’s a great sketch!  Check it all out, play along and have a chance at a GREAT JustRite prize!  Here’s what I made:

I had SEW much fun making this card early this morning for 2 reasons:  1) I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a pairing of paper with a stamp set — JustRite’s Stitched with Love works so perfectly with the October Afternoon Thrift Shop pad — totally a FUN combo; and 2) All my childhood memories of being taught to sew by my Mom came flooding to the forefront as I put this card together.  I started machine sewing in very early grade school and sewed for the better portion of my life (until the rubber showed up – LOL!).  When I started sewing it would have been the early 60’s — the era of A-line skirts and shift dresses — are you old enough to remember those?  I see a lot of the shift type dresses are back in again, just wish I was thin enough to wear one – LOL!!!

My card is large at 5.25 x 7.75″.  I’m really enjoying larger cards of late.  Here’s a closer detail shot:

I colored my Dresdan Plate from Stitched with Love using my Copics, and cut/matted the focal image using my Petite Circle Nesties by Spellbinders.  A button in the center has a piece of the 1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon run through it.  This was a piece I had tea dyed.  I stuck in a straight pin just for fun!  I used my pinking shears to pink the edges of my black paper strip, topped it with Ivory 5/8″ Twill and topped that with Ivory 5/8″ Crochet Lace.  And that about does it!

Wow! love every piece of this paper I’ve seen so far! If I buy it I will want to hoard it and just look at it and wallow in happy memories of childhood! I laughed about your comments about sewing in the 60’s. I graduated high school in ’65 and remember well those shift and A-line styles…I can’t get into them anymore either! I remember sewing all my summer blouses and shorts, my mom making my prom dresses, even my wedding gown! Now patterns and fabric are so expensive! I’ll stick to creating with rubber!
Thanks for sharing another great card!!
