Sweet Smells of Summer Blog Hop
It’s time for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store monthly Blog Hop and today we will all be treated to The Sweet Smells of Summer! The Design Team has some GREAT projects in store!

For my project featuring The Sweet Smells of Summer, I chose to make tag cards to give with small garden themed gifts. What is sweeter smelling in the summer than a lush garden? I love picking up odds and ends of things on sale at Michael’s when I get there and that’s where I got both the birdcage with 3 tea light nests and the small wooden bird on the garden themed base. I added a little floral/greenery from my stash at home, made up a couple of tags and now I’m set with 2 little garden themed gifts when the need arises!
So what’s a tag card? I started by making/decorating a tag (mine were made from scratch, but a purchased tag could surely be used), and then making a card base to adhere behind the tag. This serves double duty — you get the fun look of a tag but still it opens so you can write your message/greeting inside, plus it stands up for display, which to me is a real plus. Don’t we all love to stand up our creations and admire them for a bit? LOL!
This is the larger of my tags. The tag is cut 5″ x 2.75″. The card base is 4″ x 2.75″. I tried to take the photo from an angle so you could see. The card is not as tall as the tag, making it easy to run ribbon through the tag top. I used the paper, ribbon and pearls from my newest KIT, the Stamp Simply Basic Grey Cappella Kit. LOVE these delicate, vintage papers!!! SUPER love them!!! These sheets were a perfect match to SU Blush Blossom. Links to product will be at the end of this post under SHOPPING.
This is the smaller tag, again using SU Blush Blossom and Mellow Moss, another perfect match! This tag is cut 4 x 2″ and the card base is cut 3.25 x 2″. This card again uses all ribbon, designer paper and pearls from the Stamp Simply Basic Grey Cappella Kit. You’ll note I have left extremely long ribbon tails on my tags. This allows me to tie a nice bow up on top when I tie my tag onto either a gift or a bag!

This is the Stamp Simply Basic Grey Cappella KIT. It sells for $34.50. You can see a listing of the entire KIT contents here, along with all other KITS currently available. Purchasing a KIT is a great way to make sure you have ribbons and embellishments to perfectly coordinate with your paper. All the guess work is taken out of it. My 1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon has been extremely popular — I’m so glad you are all so happy with it! I thought it went perfectly (as to size, weight and color) with the Cappella papers, so I’ve included a total of 21 yards of the 1/2″ Wrinkled Ribbon in 7 different colors in the Cappella KIT, plus many other ribbons as well. Purchasing KITS is also a good way to get a sampling of many ribbon types! I LOVE making up these KITS — totally FUN for me!
