Stamp Simply #145 – A Color Challenge

A Color Challenge – Color challenges have always been my very favorite.  Choosing colors and patterns is my favorite part of the card-making process.  Our challenge colors today are YELLOW and GRAY with EITHER White or Ivory as your neutral and adding Black for a little POP is totally OK, too!  I’m sure we’ll see some stunning creations with this striking color combo!  Here is an inspiration photo:

And today I have a birthday card to show you and I’m so pleased with this card:

I honestly feel like I struck a gold mine with this one!  The reason — well, how many of you have stacks and stacks of older DP that never gets used?  Well, that’s me, waving my arms wildly in response!  I knew I wanted to use this pretty yellowish/gold piece from the Thrift Shop Pad, but alas, NO grey in that pad to work with today’s challenge.  Then the lights went off and I remembered this 12 x 12 pack of Charbon DSP from SU that is many years old.  Loved it then, and still love it — just haven’t used it.  Well, I can’t tell you how delighted I was when I pulled it out and found that MANY of the patterns in that pack went so well with, and reminded me of, the Thrift Shop Pad that I’ve been so addicted to of late.  So I pulled out the dotted gray/ivory sheet and it was a PERFECT coordinate to my Thrift Shop yellow piece (in my opinion, anyway!) – a HAPPY camper!  I’ll be using my old Charbon SU DSP more often with my  Thrift Shop Pad, to be sure!!!

This is my all-time favorite birthday stamp – BIRTHDAY BLESSINGS by Wordsworth, a fairly large wood mount stamp at 2.75 x 3.5″.  (I have plenty in stock for $11.50).  My card is large at 5″ x 7.75″ to accommodate the stamp and still have room to show off my pretty papers.  The Thrift Shop Pad, the Butterscotch Striped Grosgrain and the Ivory 100% Silk are all included in my Stamp Simply October Afternoon Thrift Shop Kit.  All items can be purchased individually as well.  The bow was made on the Bow Easy and Classic Rectangle Nesties were used to cut/mat my sentiment.  The black ink is VersaFine Onyx Black and I used a 1/4″ Silk to run through the button from my stash.

I’ve used this Birthday Blessings Stamp before on cards with similar layouts.  Honestly, I could sit and make 20 of these cards, just changing up the papers on each — now in my opinion THAT would be fun!  (I guess I’m easily amused — LOL!)

This stamp and all other stamps I carry by Wordsworth can be seen on this post.

Items can be ordered by emailing me at [email protected], include your state/zip OR Country.

Thank you for stopping in again! Truly appreciate your visits.  Hope you enjoy these colors as much as I do and get a chance to play with us!  Have a wonderful weekend ahead.

Oh, and please join us on Saturday morning for another small, but fun, Stamp Simply Saturday Blog Hop — Dressed in White (or Ivory).  Hope to see you there!
