Ribbon Inspiraton/Stamp Simply Style – Rosettes

Before we get to today’s project, my apologies for the inconvenience this past weekend.  The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store was down all weekend due to a small technicality, but all is now well and we are up and running as normal.  Again, my apologies —

We at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store are starting a new and regular series that hereafter will post each Saturday.  We ALL love our ribbon and how versatile it is, so we thought it would be fun to share some ribbon inspiration with you all each Saturday — thus our title — Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style.  Each Saturday we’ll feature one type of ribbon and show you various ways that we like to use it.  You’ll see designs from the regular Stamp Simply Designers as well as a few guests popping in and out here and there.

This week we are showcasing Rosettes.  There are many types of premade flowers sold by the yard that offer a variety of opportunities for scrapping, card-making, sewing and crafting in general.  So be prepared for some wonderful Rosette inspiration today!

All Rosettes in stock can be seen here.

And you can read about the Blog Candy at the end of this post.

And here’s my card for today:

I used May Arts 1.5″ Sheer Flowers with Pearl Center as my chosen rosette ribbon for today, and I paired it with several other ribbons in this very clean wedding card made with SU Very Vanilla cardstock.  The lower ribbon border, which is the focal point of this card, will be detailed a few photos down.  This card has a lot of dimension and, as always, I will store and present it in an A2 Clear Box, protecting all the detail.

I’ve used this Mr. & Mrs. stamp over and over again, but I love it, what can I say!  It is in a set that is on the retirement list by JustRite, which is SUCH a bummer in my opinon.  I LOVE this entire set — Wedding Nested Sentiments, requiring the Clear Horizontal Stampers.  But it is still available until sold out, so that’s a good thing!  The card inside, which you’ll see below, uses another stamp from the same set.

My trailing bow was quick and easy.  First, using Scor-Tape, I ran a strip of 3/4″ Lace with Pearl Center across the card top.  Then using the Bow Easy, I made a quad bow (wrap the ribbon around the legs 4 times) using 1/4″ 100% Silk Ribbon, and I specifically left extra long tails on my bow so they would trail down the card.  I adhered a Prima Fairytale Rose in French White on top of my bow.  I used a glue pen on the flower petals and sprinkled on some fine glitter.  Then I just twirled the ribbon tails how I liked them and using a dab of glue secured them near the bottom under a petal on the lower border.

Here’s the card inside, using the Wedding Nested Sentiments mentioned above.  I’ve gotten so much use out of this set.  All of the nested sentiment sets can be seen heremany are on sale.

OK, now back to the ribbon border/focal image of the card.  I made the ribbon border first, totally independent of the card.  I’ve been calling this my “garter” — doesn’t it look just like the bride’s garter might look?  Here’s how I made it:

  • Cut cardstock 5.25″ x 1.5″ (the width of the pleats) and run Scor-Tape the length of it, down the center
  • Place the 1.5″ Pleated Satin on the cardstock strip, over the Scor-Tape
  • Run another length of Scor-Tape over the center stitching of the Pleats
  • Take a length of the  1.5″ Sheer Flower with Pearl Center Ribbon and secure it on one end, then gently create some small gathers as you continue to lay it down the full length over the pleats.  It has wired edges, making this super easy to do
  • Run another length of Scor-Tape over the edge that you just gathered
  • Now you can place your 3/4″ Lace with Pearl Center over that layer of tape, concealing the gathered edge you just did.  You can gently move the flowers out of the way so you can do this more easily.
  • Done — adhere to card.

Make it larger and use on a scrapbook page!

Make it a full circle rather than flat and you WILL have a garter — LOL!!!  This could be FUN!!!
