Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – Metallics
We are back today with our regular Saturday Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style. Today we are focusing on Metallics. We all love our paper sheets with shiny metallic accents, so let’s go one step further and add some metallic ribbon or trim. I think you’ll enjoy what the girls have done this week. As ususal, the Blog Candy is at the end of the post. Here’s my Metallic project for today:
I made a small gift box (directions to follow) and a coordinating card. The card is 5.5″ square and, as usual, I have already slipped it into its very own 5.5″ Square Clear Box, both for protection from damage and for gifting. Always a great presentation!
Here’s a shot of the box. For this project I used paper from Kaisercraft’s December 25th 6.5 x6.5 pad. Kaisercraft is sure to always have some sparkly, metallic elements on some of their sheets, so reaching for one of their pads today was a sure bet! Rich vintage reds, greens, ivory and gold make this Christmas pad one of my new favorites for this year. And there is a fun Tag Pad to go with — love the little Tag Pads for quick Christmas projects.
All Kaisercraft pads can be seen here.
Here’s the box opened.
Here’s a better look at the box top — so pretty, huh? The Wired Beads are so fun. Just twirl them around your finger for a fun bit of POP to any project! Here’s the supplies:
Metallic ribbon by May Arts: 3/8″ Metallic Solid Edge (Brown/gold), Wired Beads (Gold), and Metallic String (Gold).
Prima Sugar Blooms – Reflections
JustRite Christmas Mini Sentiment Set, Clear Mini Sentiment Stamper, Spellbinders/JustRite Nested Sentiment Dies
Much of the JustRite Sentiment series is reduced.
Original Bow Easy (triple bow, meaning the ribbon was wrapped around the legs 3 times)
Scroll down for box measurements
And here’s the card to coordinate with the gift box. Again, it’s 5.5″ square, will be put into a 5.5″ Square Clear Box, and it uses all the same paper, ribbon, flowers and other supplies as listed above.
Additionally, I used:
JustRite Christmas Nested Sentiments Set (on sale), Clear Rectangle Stampers
Spellbinders Labels Four, Labels Four Small
Kaisercraft Rhinestones in Bronze
3D Foam Squares for elevation
All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

Box Measurements
I love making these small gift boxes out of the 6×6 pads and I’ve shared measurements before, but I will again, especially in light of the fact that Kaisercraft has gone from a 6×6 pad to a 6.5 x 6.5″ pad. And I DO really like that change. I enjoy making cards a bit larger, more towards the A6 size, and the 6.5″ paper works much better for me than the 6″, so I was a happy camper with that change! Anyway, the boxes are made the same with either size pad, it’s just the cutting of the paper that is a tad different. I’ll give both below:
Box Base: If using a 6 x 6 sheet of designer paper, score 2″ in from all 4 edges. Cut slits for tabs, fold and tape. Your box base will be 2″ square.
If using a 6.5 x 6.5 sheet of designer paper - do the same as above – your box base will just be larger at 2.5″ square.
Box Top: If using 6×6 paper, select a coordinating sheet of designer paper, cut it to 4 1/16 x 4 1/16. Score 1″ in from all 4 edges. Cut slits for tabs, fold and tape. Your top will fit perfectly! It will be just a tad larger than the box base.
If using 6.5 x 6.5 paper, select a coordinating sheet, cut it to 4.5″ + 1/16 is how I would say it in my head, but it is really 4 9/16″. I know fractions confuse some people – LOL!!! Just cut it 1/16″ inch larger than 4.5″. Score 1″ in from all 4 edges. Cut slits for tabs, fold and tape. This, too, will fit perfectly. It’ll be just a tad larger than the box base.
Hope that helps — this is all assuming you have basic knowledge of box construction. If you don’t you may refer to this SUPER ELEMENTARY tutorial I wrote a few years ago.
