Vintage Gift Wrap (and a Winner!)

I purchased a gift that called for vintage inspired gift wrapping and my time spent wrapping this gift was a total delight.  I’ll show you both the gift that inspired the wrapping and the wrapped package in just a bit, but FIRST I’ll announce the winner from Saturday’s Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style Hop.  There were multiple winners this week as each blog participating was giving away a card in honor or World Card Making Day — and the winner of the Velvet Blog Candy was chosen from my blog this week.

Winning the Velvet Blog Candy shown here is:  #17  Connie McFarlane

Winning the card I made on this post is:  # 12 Rosemary Dennis

Congrat’s, Ladies!  Will you both please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address to claim your prize.

Card winners from the other blogs are not posted yet, I’ll add links here as they each post their winners.

Deb’s card winner is posted here.

Holly’s card winner is posted here.

Barb’s card winner is not posted quite yet!

Thanks to all who played along!

Now on to my project.  I purchased this scarf, that I just LOVE, as a gift and it just begged to be wrapped in vintage inspired packaging:

It’s SO pretty in real life — I just love it!!!  I wish I had bought an extra for me!

Here it is all wrapped up and ready to give — just need to sign the tag!  I used brown postal wrap, first totally wrinkling it up and wringing it like I was wringing out laundry.  That softened it up a lot.  I actually prefer to use  brown grocery bags, but I didn’t have one around today — they are softer to begin with – but the postal wrap did the trick.

I used 2 lenghts of  Bridal Tulle to wrap around the package – Ivory and Brown — just wrapped it around the package and tied it into a bow — it puffs up nicely. The tag was tied on with 1.25″ Tea Dyed Silk and a bow of 1/8″ Velvet (brown) was added on top.

I used a purchased shipping tag from the office supply section of my superstore.  I covered it with a leftover piece of the wrinkled up postal wrap.  Once adhered, I then stamped in an all-over random style to cover the tag completely.  I used two stamps by LaBlanche:  Bird Cage and Signed and Sealed The ink used is VersaFine Vintage Sepia.

The sentiment says Celebrate Your Day.  It’s from the Just Because Mini Sentiment Set by JustRite, used with the Mini  Sentiment Stamper, and cut with a die from Spellbinders Nested Lacey Pennants, attached and popped up with 3D Foam Squares.

The ribbon was all adhered, layer by layer, with Scor Tape.  I pleated the 1.5″ Crochet Lace as I layed it down.  1/8″ Velvet (brown) is run through a small scrap of lace from a Melissa Frances Trim card (cream).

This rolled ribbon rose is made using a 1″ Gluber and 1.5″ Tea Dyed Silk Ribbon.  It only takes a minute or two to make these type of roses and I used about 12″ – 14″ of silk.  It’s just a matter of starting in the middle and twisting the ribbon as you go around and lay it down on the Gluber (double-sided adhesive circle).  You can see this tutorial at SCS.

The leaf showing is only 1/2 of one of the Faux Suede Leaves and a Rhinestone sets in the center of the rose.

All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

Sharon, how generous of you to use that shall as wrapping paper! It is beautiful right down to the tag! I love how you used so many different materials to tie around the package. I love my ribbon so much, I don’t want to use it all in one place…just like my favorite paper…I have had some for over 22 years! Crazy isn’t it? Other paper crafters have this problem? LOL
