Hope You Can Cling To

Published by at 8 50 pm under Gift Item,Home Decor,JustRite Products

Today I have a magnet to share that was made for a very special cause — breast cancer awareness.  Splitcoaststampers has devoted the month of October to promote breast cancer awareness with their  Hope You Can Cling To Card Drive.

You can read all about the month’s activities at SCS on this thread.  There you can learn about the campaign, find links to all the sponsors, read what each sponsor is donating, and check out the Master Challenge Thread to see the challenges as they are posted each day throughout the month.  The address is also provided for the medical facility SCS has chosen to work with this month in raising breast cancer awareness.  Cards you create can be donated and mailed directly to them.  Then all you have to do is play along for your chance to win one of the many, many fabulous prizes offered.

This Vintage Pink Ribbon Sampler containing 1 yard of each of the 18 ribbons shown in the photo,  created at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, is one of the prize packages being offered during the Hope You Can Cling To event.  In fact, four of these Vintage Pink Ribbon Samplers are being given away during the month of October over at SCS as a part of their Hope You Can Cling To m0nth long event.  You can’t win unless you play, s0 be sure to check out all the fun challenges SCS posts daily, get involved with a fabulous cause, donate your cards to a wonderful facility, and you’ll have a chance at winning any of many prizes donated by sponsoring companies.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store is pleased and honored to be  involved in this little way in the promotion of such a wonderful cause at SCS.  THINK PINK and get busy creating!

This is my first entry for this month’s Hope You Can Cling To challenges, and I’m playing Lori Craig’s Bling the Cling challenge posted on Saturday, October 1.   Now who doesn’t LOVE a little bling, especially when it’s pink!  And in keeping with the theme, I made my project specific to breast cancer with it’s pink ribbon.  Take a look.

Let me start by saying THIS IS NOT A CARD.

It is a magnet (there are magnets attached on the back) OR it can be hung on a bulletin board by using the loop on top for a push pin.

The magnet layers were cut with Spellbinders Labels 10, which is made to fit the stamp set used, Be Strong, a clear set by JustRite.  The little hanger piece on top was cut using one of the dies in another Spellbinders set, Twisted Metal Tags and Accents.

What a beautiful filigree frame with the ribbon at center.  It is one of many stamps in the Be Strong clear set by JustRite.   The stamped image was embossed in silver and the ribbon colored with Copics, then using a glue pen I adhered some fine glitter, stamped one of the many sentiments in the same set, circle cut and popped it up on the ribbon.

VersaMark, VersaFine Onyx Black, Kaisercraft Light Pink Rhinestones, 3D Foam Squares

The magnet was inserted into an A6 Clear Box to make the gift even more special.  SU Pretty in Pink cardstock was used on the magnet and the backing sheet cut for packaging is from SU Pink Pirouette. The magnet is just adhered to the backing sheet with removable tape.

I wrapped the box with Pink 100% Silk Ribbon and tied it into a bow.  I tied the little tag on using Silver Metallic StringThe Get Well sentiment is from the same set, Be Strong, and it was cut using a die from Spellbinders Nested Lacey Pennants. Whoever gives this magnet as a gift, will just have to open the box at the top end, and slip out either the magnet or the pink backing paper to write their message, slip it back in, and it’s good to go!  No re-packaging necessary.

Now just a bit about a few stamp sets that ALSO are part of a cause to benefit cancer research.  JustRite has come out with 2 sets, Be Strong that I used here today (a clear stamp set) and Strength and Courage (an Oval set in the JustRite Original ribbed line).  There are both included in their Crafting for a Cause series.  In an effort to find an early diagnostic test or screening tool for Ovarian Cancer, JustRite Crafting For a Cause will donate 20% of the sales from Be Strong and Strength and Courage in 2011 to Ovarian Cancer Research. To learn more about the symptoms of this “silent killer “ visit www.OvarianCancer.org.

Be Strong clear stamp set.

Strength and Courage, original ribbed set, requires the Large Oval Stamper for use. You will note the similarities between the two sets, but please be advised that the images in this set, Strength and Courage, are considerably larger than the images in Be Strong, the clear set that I used today.

So we all have many ways we can help out with both breast cancer awareness and research on ovarian cancer.  Pop on over to SCS, play along, donate a card, or buy stamp set.  All those little things go a long way towards promoting very worth-while causes.

All items used and shown above are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

Thank you so much for joining me today.  I’ll be back periodically over the month with more projects to bring awareness to these causes, as will the design team girls for The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store — so please check back in often.

I’ll be back on Saturday morning for another installation of Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style.  Hope to see you there!
