Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – Silk/Hope You Can Cling To

Welcome to another Saturday of  Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style.  This week we are not only featuring SILK ribbon, but we are also playing along with the Hope You Can Cling To challenge over at Splitcoaststampers, a month long event to increase breast cancer awareness and to solicit cards for their card drive. There is a LOT going on — daily challenges, prizes galore, and the card drive.  You can read about it all here.

The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store is pleased to be a sponsor of the 2011 Hope You Can Cling To month long event.  Please check it out, play along, donate some cards and in the process have a chance at winning some of the fabulous prizes being offered.

For my card today featuring non other than SILK ribbon (my true love when it comes to ribbon), I have chosen to play today’s challenge hosted by Patricia.  We were to use PINK items — here’s my list:

P – Paper, Pink Paper, Pretty Paper, Prima Flowers

I – Ink (subtle sponging)

N – Nestabilites – Square, Oval, Scalloped Oval

K – Kaisercraft Paper, Kaisercraft Pearls

I made a trio of cards. As these cards are being donated per the challenge, I decided to make them fairly simple and lacking sentiments so they can be used as all occasion cards for whoever gets them.  They are very well suited to any number of occasions – get well, thinking of you, birthday, Mother’s Day, thank you, etc.

These cards are all 6.5″ x 4.75″,  a favorite size of mine of late.  This size cards fits perfectly into an A6 Clear Box, which protects the card from the moment it is made and it is also a very impressive way to present a card.  Cards can also be mailed in the clear boxes.

All cards are made with the Chanteuse Collection pad by Kaisercraft.  It is one of their newer pads, meaning it is 6.5 x 6.5″, rather than the traditional 6×6. I LOVE the new larger size. It’s only 1/2″ larger, but it means I can entirely cover my card front when making this size card, and that makes me VERY happy!!!  Covering the entire card front rather than applying layers makes for MUCH quicker creations, plus I just like the look!

All the ribbon on these cards is 100% Silk Ribbon by May Arts in Taupe — 1.25″ and 1/4″.  It’s a great match to this pad with it’s lovely pinks, greens and taupy-type browns.

On the card above I just wrapped the ribbon around the card front and hand tied my bow, glued on my Prima Fairytale Roses (Orchid), and trimmed my tail ends.  I’m using Aleene’s Fast Drying Tacky Glue — I also use her Fast Grab Tacky Glue and Clear Gel Tacky Glue — they are all good and serve the same purpose — readily available at superstores and craft stores at very affordable prices.  When gluing down heavy or larger objects you will have to hold and press with your fingers for a bit, but once it catches and dries, it’s there for good!

This card uses a Cameo Silhouette by Webster’s Pages.  There are a large variety available and they are all so pretty.  This ballerina is available in a pack that is ALL ballerina images OR in the variety pack.  She is mounted with glue dots onto a double layer of Nestie cut squares and she has a little 1/4″ Silk bow glued beneath her.

To create this ribbon treatment I again wrapped the ribbon all the way around the card front and tied it into a really tight double knot under the focal image.  I then put a fair amount of glue on the knot and let it dry, THEN I cut the tail ends very short and using 3D Foam Squares I adhered the focal image over my knot. I also use a little Scor Tape under the ribbon just in spots so it doesn’t start to slip ever.

Another cameo image was used on this card.  This Pink Floral is from the Holiday Silhouettes line, available in a package of these Pink Florals only OR in the Holiday Silhouette Variety Pack.

I used both Classic Ovals and Beaded Oval Nestabilites  to mount this cameo image, and I finished it off with Kaisercraft Pearls.  The two bows are made on the Bow Easy and glued on.

The card insides were minimally decorated, leaving room for a handwritten message.  I really had the urge to stamp sentiments inside these cards, but in keeping true to my original intent of having these be all purpose cards, I left them blank.  There is a stamp with an Irish Proverb that goes SO well with the ballerina cameo, I really had to restrain myself  NOT to use it.  It is in the Blessings set by Verve and this is what it says:

Dance as if no one were watching,

Sing as if no one were listening, and

Live every day as if it were your last.

I WILL use that Irish Proverb with the ballerina cameo another time when I’m giving the card myself.  It’s such a perfect pairing!

All items used are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

To answer your questions:

I have been receiving an unusual number of questions of late that are all similar — you’d like to have me give you exact cutting  measurements for each card/project I post.  As much as I’d love to accomodate you in that way, I just don’t have the time — pure, simple and honestly.  I do try to include the card size, especially if it is not a standard size.

One thing I will offer is this link to an older post.  It’s a little embarrassing to point this out to you, but I will.  If you scan my creations, you will see that I use just about the same layout, or some inverted or sideways version of it, on almost all the cards I make.  What can I say?  It’s simple, easy and I like it — so why change — LOL!!!

This older post shows you layer by layer HOW I create the cards, so maybe that will be useful to some.  Hope so!
