Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – Stripes
Welcome to our regular Saturday feature of Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style. Today we are focusing on Stripes.
I LOVE stripes — in ribbon, in paper, in home decor — just about everywhere! So needless to say, I had fun with the projects I am sharing today. I used striped ribbon to turn regular everyday items into lovely little gifts to have on hand. Any of these would be perfect little gifts for girlfriends, group exchanges, teachers, hostess gifts, or any number of other occasions. Let’s start with a fall themed gift:
This is a jar candle by Paula Deen from Wal-Mart. I found the lid appealing, enticing me to buy it. It only took a couple minutes to fancy this up and change an everyday jar candle into something a bit more special.
I first ran 1/2″ Scor Tape all around the side of the lid. That made it very easy to just run my 5/8″ Organic Cotton around the lid. I left about a 1″ tail and angle cut it. Then I just made my tag — here’s the supplies:
Prima Leaves – October (check out September Leaves as well)
JustRite Charmed cling stamp set and JustRite Charm Dies made by Spellbinders (used on all 3 projects shown)
Burlap String (Ivory)
All the tag components were glued together, then the unit was glued onto the jar lid. Everything is attached to the jar lid so it comes off easily before lighting the candle, creating no fire hazard.
A quick word about the Organic Cotton Stripe — I love it — it brings back memories of huck toweling and how our first home ec teacher had us make a towel first, and then an apron. I have no clue where that towel is, but I do still have the apron, well worn and torn, but full of memories. I loved home ec class. It’s a shame girls aren’t required to take that anymore.
If you’d like to see a card I made a while back with the Organic Cotton Stripe, you can click here.

I love to buy pretty paper napkins. It’s one of many fettish’s I have! They are SO easy to fancy up for gift giving. I just let the pretty napkins show, choose a coordinating ribbon, and make a quick tag. These came from Bed, Bath and Beyond.
The 3/8″ Grosgrain Stripes in Pink/Ivory were a perfect match to these napkins! And SU Blush Blossom cardstock was the perfect color for paper — I LOVE when things match so well. Again, the tag was made with JustRite supplies linked above.

I’ll sneek in a picture here of another napkin gift I made a few years ago.
These pretty fall napkins are wrapped in 1.5″ Grosgrain Stripes in Brown/Ivory and 1/8″ Burlap Cording. The stamp used for the tag is a retired set by JustRite, no longer available.
These wide striped grosgrain ribbons will always hold a special place in my heart. These are the ribbons I fell in love with several years back when I first dabbled in selling ribbon. I had to have every color, so I purchased them in bulk and just checked to see if any of you wanted some. Well, you did — and the rest is history! Thank you for that!

This is the BEST smelling sachet! It came 3 in a bundle, but I broke them apart and am turning the purchase into 3 separate gifts.
I just made a little tent topper for my sachet bag. I used a scrap of old DP in the same colors. I made the topper 2″ deep as the ribbon I used is 2″ wide and I wanted it to cover the topper.
Once the topper is cut, staple it onto the sachet bag so it’s securely on. Then run Scor Tape along the back side of the topper. Cut a 1 yd piece of 2″ Wide Stripes and attach it at the back of the topper . It’ll stay with the Scor Tape. Now just wrap the ribbon around to the front and tie a pretty bow, trimming your tails when done.
The heart tag is again made with Charmed and the Charm Dies. Cardstock is SU Elegant Eggplant.
There are also a number of other sets made to fit the Charm Dies. You can see them here. I am really enjoying the darling little, quick and easy tags you can make with these stamps and dies.
I use VeraFine Onyx Black Ink for crisp, clear sentiments.
I’ve just used a 3D Foam Square to attach my tag to these last 2 projects.
And a quick word about the 2″ Wide Stripes – this is a very lovely, luxurious type ribbon, very popular with brides for their wedding invitations/decor, etc. It is smooth and silky to the touch – very rich looking. Adds an elegant touch to projects.
The sachet was Vanilla Lavender and my work space has never smelled better!!! I picked this up at Bed, Bath and Beyond, but I’m quite certain I also saw this in Wal-Mart — don’t hold me to it, but I do think so. Here’s the online link to the sachet – FreshScents.com
And luck was on my side with this — these Sachet Bags are a PERFECT fit for the A6 Clear Boxes. Even with the big, fluffy bow it fits into the box just pefectly. Now that’s clearly the way to package these up — nice and easy, see-through and pretty.
All items used on these projects are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

Hi Sharon! What great ideas and oh so pretty too! I love how you have fancied up a small gift to give with your gorgeous ribbon and twine making it extra special. You show us that it doesn’t take much to remember special friends and family at the holidays. Thank you for your inspiration!
Sharon, What lovely gift ideas! With your beautiful ribbons, you really don’t need anything other than a tag–so simple, so lovely, and what a pleasure it would be to receive from someone. I, too, love beautiful paper napkins and tablecloths–I returned from my first trip to Europe with a small suitcase filled with some from several countries nearly 30 years ago. I’m so glad that the US has embraced them as well.
=) Gail
