Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style – Mother’s Day

Welcome to another Saturday with our regular feature – Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style.  Today the design team has Mother’s Day projects to show you.  I think we all like to create something just a little special for Mom.  I know you’ll love all the projects they created and you can find the link list at the end of this post.

My project for today involved a bit more than I usually do on a card front, but I had fun putting it together – a vintage collage look.  My Mom sewed all of our clothes when we were children, so I wanted to go with a sewing theme for her card.  She taught me to sew as a young girl and those lessons have served me well.  Papercrafting has kind of taken over sewing in my life these last 10 years or so, but I still love to look at and feel stacks of beautifully folded fabric.  And I love looking through the pattern books.  I still do on occasion, even though I haven’t made a piece of clothing in years.  Oh, if ONLY the days were longer —

I used a variety of product on this card and I’ll link all as I go.

My card is a favorite size, 6.5 x 4.75″, made to fit perfectly into an A6 Clear Box.  I put all my cards with dimension into a Clear Box as soon as they are done. This protects the card and it also makes a GREAT presentation.  The Clear Boxes are mailable as well.

The paper used is Sweet Nothings by Kaisercraft.  The angelic postage stamp die cut in the upper right corner is from the coordinating package of die cut Collectables.

I used a new Spellbinders die to create the pink base upon which I layered all my elements – Romantic Recangles.  This die set is one of those items that I knew I had to have the moment I first saw it.  It’s gorgeous!  I actually cut one of the designer paper from Sweet Nothings and cut another of plain vanilla cardstock and adhered them together with glue.  I needed my based to be sturdier to layer on all the elements.

I used a stamp by LaBlancheScissors, for the stamped image, which got kind of buried, but you can see it.  It is gold embossed onto a sheet from the same pad, Sweet Nothings.   To emboss I use Versa MarkSuper Fine Embossing Powder, and a heat gun.  I distressed the edges of the stamped panel just with my scissor blades.  I do have a distressing tool — somewhere — but the scissor blades work for me!

I absolutely love the fine detail of all the LaBlanche stamps.  You can see them all here.

Mother is taken from an Our Daily Bread Designs set called Mother’s Day.  I also used this set on the card inside.  To cut out Mother I used a favorite new little die in a Spellbinders die set called Nautical Frames and Accents.  It’s just one tiny little die, but it is just perfect for so many of my needs!  It has the clipped tail on one end but you’ll notice I have that tail on both ends of my Mother sentiment.  Just run it through as normal, then remove the paper and flip it around in the die so the tail piece cuts the other end.  Couldnt’ be any quicker.  Doing it this way I can get a piece with tails on both ends — oh, such a little die, but it makes me SO happy.

Our Daily Bread Designs stamps are perfect for so many occasions.  You can see all in stock here.

LOVE my little dress form.  This one is from a Spellbinders Nina Brackett set called Sewing Elements.  Another must have die set if you like sewing themed projects!  And once I’m talking sewing — this Decorative Dress Forms die set is another keeper!  My dress form is popped up using 3D Foam Squares and accented with Kaisercraft Pearls and Rhinestones.

The ribbon used on this project is May Arts 100% Silk — in 1.25″ and 1/4″ in Mauve.

Both bows were made on the Original Bow Easy.  Long curly tails were tacked in place with glue dots.

The roses used are by Prima – Aneglica Roses and Fairytale Roses.

The pins are NEW Petal Pins by Prima — they come in Beads, Pearls or Iced — LOVE these!  I used the Beads.

To adhere all my ribbon, flowers, pins, etc. I use Aleene’s Glues from super stores or craft stores. It is very inexpensive, holds tight and dries clear.  Just make sure when adhering larger and more dimensional objects to press and hold a bit until the glue takes hold.  Once adhered, they are on tight and forever!

And here’s the card inside, using sentiments from Mother’s Day by Our Daily Bread Designs.

The paper inside is from the same Sweet Nothings pad.

All items used on today’s project are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked above.

Wow Sharon – i’ve not been by in ages – where have I been… I’ve been missing out on some serious inspiration!! And that’s the very thing that brings me to your post. You see I have the ‘Sewing Elements’ die set from Spellbinders, but I’ve not used them so far, so I just googled them and ta da! Here I am looking at your beautiful mothers day card using the dress form… I was wondering whether there is a matching stamp set somewhere!

That blue kit is absolutely divine – I thought it was something you had put together for the shop – but when I could see that its up for grabs, I thought wow… I would have left a comment anyway just to say Hi! and that I LOVE your MD Card.

Anyway – good luck to everyone in your fabulous draw… hope you are well, I’ll have to make sure I get blogging again as i’m clearly missing out on beautiful cards and products!

Ha Ha – sorry Sharon – how stupid do I feel now… I just realised that this is a post from 2012 – of course, Mothers day in the states is later than here in the UK… DOH and double DOH!!! Gee, I think I’m in need of some sleep… been none stop card making as March is a marathon month for me – and I never do anything on time… always at the last minute.

Oh well, hope it raised either a smile, or an eyebrow with you!
