A Sketch Challenge – SC380

I can’t tell you the last time I played a Sketch Challenge at Splitcoaststampers — but it’s been a long time.  I LOVE all the challenges at SCS.  When I was a newbie to SCS I played the challenges most days of the week.   It was so much fun.  I met so many people there who I still call friends and it sure was a great way to expand on  skills and ideas.  I’m sure most of you reading this are well familiar with SCS, but if you aren’t, I highly suggest taking a peek to see all that goes on over there.

Well, today I did make a card for the sketch being offered tonight — and I will say that I had a little heads up on what the sketch was — LOL.  The sketch was taken from this post I did a while back — it was a card I did for a shoe box swap — nice and easy, but fun!  My inspiration for that set of cards came straight from Michelle’s Woerner’s use of circles!  Fun stuff!

The Sketch Challenge today is SC380You can read about it here.  And here’s my card:

It’s the same sketch as you can tell, I just used more paper and more layers on this card, with a larger floral embellishment.

You can see the original cards here.

Supplies for today’s card include:

Bonjour 6.5 x 6.5″ paper pad by Kaisercraft

Cardstock is Very Vanilla by SU

This card is larger than the original, being 6.5″ x 4.75″.  It fits perfectly inside an A6 Clear Box, both for protection and for gift giving.

Stamp Set – Charmed, a cling set by JustRite

Ink – VersaFine Onyx Black

Dies – Petite Circle Nesties by Spellbinders

Ribbon – 1/2″ Seam Binding in Tobacco Brown

Roses and leaves - a mixture of Laraine Roses by Prima – River Rock and Sorbet

Stick Pins – Petal Pins by Prima – Beads

My bow/floral cluster is all held together with Aleene’s glues from superstores — it’s inexpensive and it holds tight.  Just be sure to press and hold your cluster in place for a bit until the glue grabs.

Though 99.9% of the bows I make are made on the Bow Easy, this was not.  This loose, floppy bow was just ribbon folded over on itself, kind of like how ribbon candy would look.  Then I cinched it in the center and tied with twine.  Easy and I like the loose, floppy look you get.

And here’s the card inside.  Just simply done using scraps from cutting the card front.

All items used on this project are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked.
