Blessings and Beginnings

Happy Labor Day, everyone!  Hope you can enjoy the holiday to those of you here in the states and wishes for a wonderful new week to those in other countries.  Today we have 2 cards to share — Deb did a card with thoughts of New Beginnings, and I set out to do an autumn themed card and ended up with anything BUT an autumn theme, but still have the Blessings of autumn in mind!

Take a peek at Deb’s card first:

New Beginnings — gorgeous!!!!  You can see the full project on Deb’s Blog here.  Here’s what Deb used:

Thank you so much, Deb, for this gorgeous creation!!!

Now on to my card for today.  As I said I started with the intention of making an autumn card, but once I pulled out my stamp set, a new vision took hold — LOL!  So it goes —

I did use an autumn themed stamp set – Antique Autumn Tags One, a clear set by JustRite.  It was that small medallion shape that captivated me and made me switch course!  The thing I really like about that little medallion stamp is if you position it one way (as shown on the stamp packaging) it looks squar-ish.  But turing it a 1/4 turn, it becomes round-ish.  LOL!  I used it round-ish.

My paper today is from Prima’s Tea Thyme Collection.  I used the 6×6 pad.  Such pretty paper!

The cardstock used is SU Very Vanilla, Close to Cocoa and Blush Blossom.

The ink used is VersaFine Vintage Sepia and Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Tattered Rose.

Today I used my pretty little medallion in the place where I would typically put a bow — I like it!

The stamp set is Antique Autumn Tags One cut with a NEW die set by Spellbinders for JustRite, Antique Tags One Die. YES, it is now in stock!!!!  All the pre-orders for this die set have been mailed, so if you haven’t received yours yet, it is en route!

The beautiful flourish of sparkly pearls is included in the Tea Thyme Collection by Prima — Say It In Crystals – Tea Thyme.  These are GORGEOUS small flourishes of sparkly pearls.  The graphic by Prima which is in the product decscription in the store does NOTHING to show how lovely these are!  I am smitten with them and I LOVE their smaller size. What you see on this card are 2 floruishes from the pack, and these are the 2 largest flourishes.  The others are just a tad smaller.  I LOVE these smaller flourishes!  Very easy to pull off the card and apply.

The ribbon used is 1.25″ May Arts Silk in Champagne.  The silk is available by the yard, the spool or in themed Samplers and in 3 widths.

NOTE: This is a super easy ribbon treatment.  Adhere the silk to the back of the panel with Scor Tape.  Take either 1/4″ or 1/8″ Silk in the same color and just cinch and tie it off tightly where you want to place your medallion.  Cut tails and apply medallion with 3D Foam Squares.  A classy look with very little effort (and very little ribbon!).

Here’s the card inside using another sheet from the same paper pad.

And here’s my card in its very own A6 Clear Box, ready for storage, gifting or shipping!

This card is a bit larger at 6.5 x 4.75.  This is a favorite size of mine and it fits perfectly into the A6 Clear Box.

Making your cards a bit larger like this allows you to make best use of a full width of  the 6×6 designer papers, PLUS everyone LOVES to receive a card in a clear box — believe me!  Try it, you’ll impress them — LOL!!!

  9. […] Just to show you the vast options available with this set, I used it the other day to make a card that is FAR from autum themed.  It’s the blush colored card on this post. […]
