More Christmas Cards!

We have a couple more Christmas cards to share today and boy, it feels good to be getting some made this early!  With Christmas cards, it’s never too early to get started.

Take a peek at Barb’s card for today:

Isn’t that pretty!  I have always loved those resin silhouette images by Webster’s Pages.

You can see the full project on Barb’s blog here.

And here’s what I made today — I kept it simple:

This card is 5.5″ square and will fit into the 5.5″ Square Clear Boxes for both protection and presentation.

The paper I used is the Bo Bunny Double Dot that is now available in 6×6 pads.  I couldn’t be happier!  These simple dotted sheets work well alone, as I’ve done here today, or can be combined with so many of your other patterned papers.  GREAT pads to have on hand, and I’m always partial to dots, so I’m especially thrilled with these pads, shown below.  The sheet I used today is from the Very Vintage pad.

My image is this beautiful Wreath by Rubber Soul/Wordsworth, a wood mount rubber stamp.  I learned to stamp using wood mounted rubber and I tell you, it still just feels *right* to me — LOL!!!

The image is embossed, but I didn’t have the color embossing powder I wanted, so to get the brownish/coppery color I was after, I first applied VersaMark to my stamp and then I applied VersaFine Vintage Sepia Ink.  I then stamped the wreath onto my paper and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.  It turned out just perfect!  I do have heat guns available, too, if you need one.

I used my Square Nesties to cut the image and layers beneath.  I used Mirror Cardstock in Copper.  There is just something about Christmas creations that makes me take out the Mirror Cardstock every year!  Love the bit of reflective shine it adds.

And, I also went for some ribbon that I seem to pull out each fall as well, the 3/8″ Solid Two Tone in Copper.  The colors and texture of this ribbon are just SO RICH.  There is a bit of golden glitz — just beautiful, especially for this time of year!  I’ll show it to you below.

I also used a single Kaisercraft Rhinestone (Bronze) and 3D Foam Squares.

I went to my this year’s go-to holiday sentiment set – JustRite’s Large Fancy Holiday Sentiments.

You can also see how I wrapped my ribbon around the card front.

And that about does it for today’s card — let me show you the paper and ribbon I used today.

Bo Bunny’s Double Dot in 6×6 pads:

Soft Shades

Bold and Bright

Very Vintage – this is the pad I used on today’s card.

Natural Necessities

And here’s the ribbon I used today as well:

May Arts  3/8″ Solid Two Tone Ribbon

These colors are SO deep and rich they just make me think of autumn and warm, cozy winter themes.  This ribbon is available by the individual color, in a sampler containing all colors, or by the spool.

And talking above about wood mount rubber stamps, I have some of my very favorites in stock for the holidays — check them out in these categories:  Penny Black and Rubber Soul/Wordsworth.

All items used and shown are available at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, as linked.

Sharon: I love, love, love your Christmas card and how easy to make. Now I wish I would have waited to place my order with you. Love the dot paper, is it velour/fuzzy feeling or just plain? I am a dot fanatic!!!! Rosie

    • Rosie, the paper is smooth — not textured at all — but it looks aged with the distressed looking edges. I know you’d love it! Such pretty colors, too! Thanks for your comment! Sharon

    Sharon,
This card really caught my eye. I love the copper tones on this. I would think you could use this in November as well as a Christmas card. Very pretty!

  5. Rosie Waldt says:

Thank you for your reply, did you use Copper or Copper Silk Mirror c.s.? What are the differences? TYAL

    • Rosie, I used the Copper Mirror. As the product descriptions indicate, the Mirror is highly reflective, just like a mirror – you can see yourself in it. The Silk is not reflective, still copper, but not nearly as shiny/reflective – more dull or soft, if that makes sense. Hope that helps. Sharon
