Sadly, I needed a sympathy card this week and my stash is once again depleted.  This card is for the passing of a kindly gentleman.  I always feel a sympathy card for a man must be masculine, but I deviated from that viewpoint a bit today.  After all, the card goes to his widow, so I did add a little fru-fru but tried to keep it more subtle and to a minimum with a monochromatic color scheme and a minimal bow and flowers.  I also have some GORGEOUS new paper to show you, but here’s the card first:

I used a combination of stamps from two sets by two different companies on this card as well as sheets of paper from two different pads by Kaisercraft.  Not intentional, just worked out that way.  The pads were both brand NEW  by Kaisercraft, just sitting on my work table, and when I realized how well they work together, I was a happy camper.

Paper:  Kaisercraft Remember Me and Elegance

The flocked background damask sheet is from Remember Me.

The varnished floral matting the focal image and the check strip are from Elegance.

The “bow” of sorts, is not really a bow.  Trying to keep it minimal I used a simple, subtle ribbon and just folded it over to create the two tabs, sort of.  I stapled it at the bottom so it would stay how I wanted it.  Then I just glued my stapled little ribbon embellishment to the card, under the flowers.  I like it and it was super easy!

Flowers:  Prima Flowers (loose in my flower drawer, similar in size/type would be Laraine Roses, Prima Perles, Mini Rose Stems, Encore Roses, Fairytale Roses, Charme Roses, Avon Roses)

Leaves:  Prima Leaves – 4 Seasons Velvet

Ribbon:  May Arts 5/8 ” Faux Canvas – Celery

Spellbinders Dies:  Rectangle Nesties

JustRite/Spellbinders co-brand Dies:  Vintage Label and Banner Die

Miscellaneous:  Pearls, Super Fine Embossing Powder – Gold, Heat Gun, VersaMark Ink, Versa Fine Ink – Vintage Sepia (inside), 3D Foam Squares

My card is 5.5″ square, to fit perfectly inside the 5.5″ Square Clear Box.

It gets to the recipient in perfect condition!
