Monograms and Backgrounds

Hi!  I’m back with the project I peeked this morning!  Finally got those photos done!  Again, this project fits in with today’s theme of using background stamps to create fun and easy monogram projects.  I went with a sewing theme for this project.  This is a 5 x 7 piece to be used as sewing room decor.

I made this for my daughter-in-law’s sewing room.  She can stand it on a shelf or pin it to her bulletin board.

It is 5 x 7″.  I cut my layers with Spellbinders 5×7 Matting Basics A and B.  SO EASY when you don’t have to measure anything and all layers come out just perfect!

The Matting Basics are available in 5×7, the standard A2 card size, and with rounded corners as well as square.

See all the Matting Basics Dies here.

The background stamp used is Grandma’s Attic, a cling stamp by JustRite – one of MANY background stamps currently on sale.

Memento Tuxedo Black Ink was used to stamp the image.

The image was stamped a 2nd time on another sheet so I could color and cut out the spool ends.

The top is finished off with my favorite decorative elements:

Ribbon:  May Arts 1.25″ Silk Ribbon in pink  (Bow made on the Original Bow Easy)

Flowers:  Prima Interlude Roses in pink

Pin:  Stick Pin by Darsie in pink

The monogram was stamped using Graceful Monogram – a clear set by JustRite – with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink.

In keeping with the sewing theme, the M was cut with a Spellbinders die – Square Swatch.

In hindsight (which is always better) I should have stamped the monogram onto a piece of designer paper, then it would have looked more like a swatch of pinked fabric — next time!

Square Nesties were also used.

The buttons are miscellaneous from my button box.

The rhinestones are by Melissa Frances.

The monogram bow is a quad bow made on the Original Bow Easy of May Arts 1/4″ Silk in pink.

The flower is a Prima flower from my flower drawer.

3D Foam Squares were used for elevation.
