Baptismal Cards for Twin Baby Boys

Last Sunday a friend from church asked me to make her some baptismal cards for her twin grandsons.  Her request was to have cards that were “special”, (I hope they are!), and that one be green and one blue.  The reason for the colors is that the boys are identical twins, so much so that even the parents can’t tell them apart, so one boy wears green and one boy wears blue — problem solved — LOL!  (for now!!!)  She also wanted their first name initials on the cards, and I got that in on the inside.

I used a NEWER paper collection by Webster’s Pages – New Beginnings — LOVE it!

It is primarily a baby collection, but has a lot of sheets that aren’t necessarily so – very pretty florals.

And do you recognize those file folder dies again — YUP — TOTALLY addicted to these Address Book Dies by Spellbinders!

These cards are made to open as if they were file folders in a drawer – fun for a change!

To create the card with rounded corners I cut a standard 4.25 x 5.5″ card.

I then placed the card over the largest die from Curved Matting Basics A in such a way that the cutting blade did not cut the folded edge of the card.  The folded edge was lined up just INSIDE the cutting blade.  I taped it well so it would stay in place while running through the die cut machine.

To create the designer paper layer to top the card, I adhered my two pieces of paper together, then placed the same die from Curved Matting Basics A over the now taped together sheets, aligning it up how I wanted the 2 papers to appear and ran it through my die cut machine.  It was now perfectly sized to adhere to the card front, with the 2 different designer sheets cut as one piece.

The sentiment on front is from Noah’s Ark by Our Daily Bread Designs.

It is cut with a Spellbinders Die – Ribbon Banners LG.

The ink used is VersaFine Onyx Black.

Here’s the ribbon/trim/flowers used:

May Arts 3/8″ Crochet Lace Trim – Natural (lace and pom pom adhered with 1/8″ Scor Tape)

May Arts 5/8″ Faux Canvas – Ivory

Blue Pom Pom Trim – Prima Pom Pom Trim

Green Pom Pom Trim – New Beginnings Trim Card by Webster’s Pages

Prima Lady Godiva Flowers – Raspberry Ice and Limeade

The bows were made on the Original Bow Easy.

3D Foam Strips and Squares were used for elevation.

And here’s the inside.  See how it opens like a file folder?

This is for baby O who wears blue!

Grandma’s message/greeting can be written on the file folder.

And this is for Baby C who wears green!

The initials were created using Monogram Your Journey, a large clear stamp set by JustRite.

And here they are boxed up and ready to give to Grandma!

These are in A2 Clear BoxesThis post was devoted solely to the use of Clear Boxes.

When stapling on my file tabs, I made sure to place them so the card would fit into the box.
