When I begin to make a card, I usually start by picking out either a stamp or my designer paper first; however, today I started with a ribbon choice and then worked my card around the ribbon I wanted to use. This is a fairly flat for mailing card with no bow, just flat ribbon.  We recently got in some new May Arts ribbon that is just gorgeous.  It is a combination of sheer and satin with gold lettering down the center band.  It comes in 2 widths and in several colors with a variety of sentiments.  I chose the narrower ivory/gold that says “happy holidays”.  And it worked just as I intended, much to my pleasure! There is no stamped sentiment on this card — the ribbon did the trick. Take a look:

Totally thrilled with this ribbon, and the card, too! A bit glitzy, a bit glamorous and fairly quick and easy!

I used a large background stamp, gold embossed it, matted it with mirror cardstock, created a little pop-up for one of the ornaments and then used my new ribbon for the sentiment.

To create that snowflake I cut and layered the two smallest dies  from Snowflake Bliss.

You can see the ribbon here a bit, too.

And if you wanted to make this card even quicker and more flat, you could omit the pop-up. It would still be gorgeous and then totally flat.
