Peace on Earth Pennant – by Sharon Johnson
I love doing altered projects for the holidays. It’s so much fun each year to unpack my Christmas trunk and bring them all out to enjoy again. Today I made a single pennant with a rosette medallion using pretty Christmas papers. Take a look:
I actually created this to use as our Make-N-Take Mini Class project for yesterday. The ladies loved it!
At request I will be re-running this class next Saturday afternoon, 11/26. If interested, contact me.
The pennant base is MDF board so it’s nice and sturdy.
After tracing my pennant onto designer paper, cutting out and then adhering to the pennant with a white craft glue, once dried I use an emery board to sand the edges, melding the paper right into the board. I often use either a Copic marker or a Zig or Sharpie Paint Pen to color the exposed edges of the board on the sides, but I just forgot this time. So often I create a project and think it’s “done”, until I see the photo – then WHAM – it becomes so very clear what I forgot to do — LOL! Oh well —
These medallions are so fun to make. I really enjoy creating them and actually find it quite relaxing.
Beate has a video at Splitcoaststampers here showing you how.
Comparing my rosette to Beate’s video – I made these changes:
- I omitted the scallop edge
- My paper strip was cut 1.5″ wide, giving me a 3″ flower
- I scored every 1/4″
- I used 6″ paper, so I cut and scored 2 strips, then attached them together with Scor Tape once they were all pleated
- I applied glue and glitter around the edge once completed
