Today I have two patriotic themed cards to share. They are shaker cards done up in fun patriotic papers in red, white and blue and both feature star shaped shakers. Totally fun! Take a look:

The shakers were created differently on each of these cards but the end result is the same – they shake!!!

Aren’t they fun!

For this card I created a separate shaker box. Here’s how it got layered:

White star shaped die cut

Adhere star shaped die cut acetate to back of white star shape(window)

Apply foam strips to acetate around perimeter of star

Fill with sequins

Top with sheet of star shaped die cut designer paper (this is actually the bottom red layer)

Adhere star shaped shaker box to card front

If you’ve never done a shaker card before, here’s a tutorial you might find helpful.

This card was a bit quicker to make. Here are the layers.

Start with the card front piece of designer paper and cut a star into it

Adhere a rectangle of acetate to cover the star opening on the back

Apply foam strips to acetate around perimeter of star

Fill with sequins

Adhere a rectangle of solid or designer paper over the foam tape, covering sequins

Adhere foam tap around perimeter of the card front

Apply this card front sized layer with built in shaker to card front

Cut and adhere the white outline star shape to front

The die set has 5 nested stars, allowing you to cut star and/or star frames in any number of sizes.

Spellbinders Phrase Set Two

Ken Oliver Stick-it Adhesive Sheets were adhered to the back of the cardstock before die cutting the words. Once cut, the words were peel and stick – so simple!
