We are absolutely loving the most recent Valentine collection to arrive – Cupid’s Arrow by My Mind’s Eye. Today Michelle shows us two super CAS (clean and simple) cards using this collection. Michelle used Spellbinders heart dies to cut her hearts from cardstock for this project. However, our Cupid’s Arrow Kit comes complete with die cut hearts. Either way, super duper EASY!!! The JustRite Sweet Hearts Valentine clear stamp set was used for the fun sentiments.  Add a bit of bling, a flower or two and some Baker’s Twine and there you have it!  Quick, easy and GORGEOUS!!!  Take a look:

Welcome! Today begins a full week of Valentine inspiration and we are all super excited! I have a card to show you today, made with nothing more than paper and ribbon (truly!), and then I’ll show you the huge variety of Valentine paper pads we have in stock along with links to other fun products for the season. Let’s start with my card:

Lots of shine here, making it very difficult to get a good picture. There was glare no matter what I tried, so I have a few pics to share in an effort to show you the pretty embossing along with the layers, ribbon and fun focal image.

My card is 5.5″ square and will fit into the 5.5″ Square Clear Box.

The card base, the embossed sheet and the mat layers are all from the gold mirror cardstock.

The focal image is one heart cut from adhesive sequin heart ribbon, and my sheer ribbon in the background has gold sparkles as well.

(Yes, the heart ribbon is peel and stick and it sticks TIGHT.)

The embossing folder is a fun heart design – it’s actually a 2-sided folder with 2 different heart designs.

This view probably shows the embossing the best – fun folder!

Sheri has a lovely card to share today that truly could be used for either gender, but I just thought with the colors and ribbon Sheri chose this one would work beautifully for a man. Done up in lighter pastels this would be so gorgeous with a bit more feminine feel! I really like Sheri’s use of the 3/4″ Velvet  Ribbon today. Wide velvet can be a bit bulky to tie a bow for a card, but just running it behind the panel and crossing it to create the bow tails gives you the opulence of the rich velvet, without the bulk. I will definitely be stealing this idea from Sheri! Take a look:

This is  the last of our 2014 Year in Review posts and YAY! — I did get them all in before January is over! Though Jerri Kay is not officially a member of our Design Team, I couldn’t complete our Year in Review without including some of her beautiful projects. Jerri is a long time friend to us here at The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and a frequent contributor to our blog. Her projects offer a high degree of detail work, especially considering she uses a ton of flowers and for the most part she makes them all by hand from mulberry paper with the use of dies. If you are drawn to vintage and pretty, you are in for a huge treat today. Heidi created a no stamp Valentine for us, using a sweet cherub image she cut from Graphic 45’s Sweet Sentiments as her focal image, accented with silk ribbon and dainty flowers. As pretty as the focal image is, it is the background that Heidi created today that pulls the project together to give it a luxurious, vintage feel. She used a stencil and a crackle embossing paste to create the rich texture and distress inks to add the color. Yes, I am TOTALLY smitten with this project! Take a look:

Paper: Sweet Sentiments by Graphic 45

Ranger Watercolor Paper, Cardstock – Pink, Blue

Stencil: Prima Designer Stencil 6×6 – Flourish, WITH Crackle Embossing Paste

Ink: Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Inks – Worn Lipstick, Broken China, Antique Linen (REDUCED!)

Ribbon: May Arts 1/4″ Silk – Ivory

Embellishments: Kaisercraft Mini Paper Bloom – Fairy Floss; Sequins – 5 mm Crystal

Adhesives: 3L Tape Runner and Foam Squares

Here’s a closer look at that fabulous texture created with a stencil and crackle embossing paste on watercolor paper, then color washed with pink and blue distress inks, and finally the crackle was run over with the brown shade of distress ink to highlight the cracks.

Today Tricia shares two very fun, somewhat vintage, somewhat clean and simple, typewritten note cards. And I guess if they are typewritten, they MUST be vintage! So, what does that say about those of us who learned to type on a typewriter not too terribly different from the one shown — LOL!  Well, we won’t go there right now! Back to Tricia’s cards — they both use the same stamp set, Just Typed by JustRite, and the same paper pad, Notable by My Mind’s Eye. Tricia hand cut the typewriter on the first card and embossed the typewriter on the second card. I love both applications! It’s fun to see options with one stamp. Take a look:
