LuminArte Shimmer!!!

My apologies – 10 Minute Tuesday just did not happen this week.  First I was a day behind schedule, then I lost internet service on Tuesday for 13 hours  — so I’m just moving on – and what fun I’ve had!!!  I had a chance to just play and try something I haven’t used before – and what fun!!! I created THE most gorgeous shimmer paper EVER!!!!  And it was soooooo easy!!!  Here’s the card I made:

painted-baby-white-480-wm-notime.jpg

I used Rock-a-Bye Baby which was released last week by Flourishes and Two Scoops DP by Basic Grey.   I just LOVE this vintage baby set — just darling!!! And can you see all the shimmer on my main image oval panel?  Here’s a close up so you can really see it sparkle and shimmer:

painted-baby-sparkle-480-notime.jpg

It almost looks as though it had been embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, but it wasn’t - what I did was much, much easier!!!  I first stamped my image with Versa Fine Onyx Black (heat set) onto white cardstock and then colored with Copics.  Here’s the colors (much easier to photo the markers than to write down all those numbers — LOL!):

painted-baby-copics-480.jpg

Then to make my *Shimmer* I used products by LuminArte — the Pure Mica Metallic in Luster Pearl and the Simple Solution #2.  This is what they look like:

painted-baby-medium-480.jpg

Using the Miniature Spoon, take just a tad bit of the Mica from the jar and mix it with just a drop or two or three of the Medium from the bottle.  Stir it up with a paint brush and literally paint it on your card — I just painted it onto my oval.  It is wet, just like when you paint, and it took maybe 15 - 20 minutes for my oval to dry.  And I might add, this is very forgiving.  I had my first coat a bit too thick, so I just made a second batch much thinner, and painted over my first coat and thinned out the application — worked perfectly!!! When it was wet it looked a bit streaky, and I wondered, but it dried to a beautiful, even sparkle and sheen!!! This is the ULTIMATE SHIMMER PAPER!!!!  I am a happy camper!!!  So fun!!!!  I used the Luster Pearl here as I wanted a moonglow effect, but I can envision how fun using all the other colors available will be!!!

One thing I wish is that you could touch the oval I painted with the Mica and Solution.  It is totally smooth, nothing flakes off, it feels like a coated/protected surface.  This is a dream come true, especially if that glittery *fall-off* ever bothered you!!!  LOL!!!  I can’t wait to try this out in more colors and more applications!!!

Now, just so you realize,  this is the same jar of Pure Mica Metallic that I used when I did the Cuttlebug embossed background with the high sheen on this magnolia card.  You can read that post to see how I used it there.

This card is 5.5″ square, the yellowish DP sheet is Cuttlebug embossed with the Baby folder, the ovals are cut and embossed with the Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders, the scalloped oval is paper pierced to give a lacey effect, the stick on pearls were in my stash and I just love using the 1″ Satin Ribbon by May Arts on baby cards — it is so soft and supple, it feels just like the satin binding on a baby’s blanket, and I think it just gives that satiny/babyish look to a card!!!  Mounting tape is used to pop the main image/pink ovals up above the scallop and over the ribbon.

  • Stamps: Rock-a-Bye Baby by Flourishes
  • Paper:  White and Two Scoops DP by Basic Grey
  • Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black and Copics to Color
  • Accessories:  Satin Ribbon, Pure Metallic Mica and Simple Solution #2 by LuminArte, Cuttlebug, Baby Embossing Folder, Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders, 1/2 Pearls, Mounting Tape, Paintbrush.

I think that’ll do it for this card!!!  Thanks so much for stopping in, and I’m trying real hard to get back on track!!!  Hope you are all having a great week!!!

Rock-a-Bye-Baby

Flourishes had 2 new sets released yesterday — Lilac (oh my, HOW gorgeous) and Rock-a-Bye Baby (the sweetest vintage baby set EVER).  On yesterday’s post I made a magnolia branch, using the magnolia blossoms, from the Lilac Set.  You may see it here.  Today I’m going to show you a baby girl card I made using Rock-a-Bye Baby.  Here it is:

welcome-sweet-one-520-wm-notime.jpg

This card is done in the tent topper style, but in a non-traditional size.  The card base is 3 7/8″ x 5 1/2″.  The scalloped oval extends another 2″ above the card, making it 7 1/2″ tall.  This will fit in a standard business sized envelope.   Sometimes it’s just fun to do something in a non-traditional size or shape!!!

My main image (isn’t it darling!) is colored with my Twinkling H20’s by LuminArte, available at Flourishes.  To keep things simple, all the colors I used came from the same package, which is #1259.  They are listed in the supplies below.  Twinkling H20’s are sparkly, shimmery watercolors and I’m finding them extremely easy to work with.  For this card I used my waterbrush and merely dipped my dampened pen into the H20 pot (it is in solid cake form).  It is very easy to control the intensity of the color with the amount of water you use.  I wish I could have captured all of the sparkle and glimmer in the photo, but, so sorry, I couldn’t, so you’ll just have to take my word for it!!!  I am truly loving working with my H20’s!!!

Once colored, the image was cut and embossed with an oval Nestabilities die by Spellbinders, matted in one size larger, and then matted again with the scallop oval.  I love the multi-layers you can so easily make with the Nestabilities. Again, if someone doesn’t know what Nestabilites are, you can click here to see a prior post explaining them.

My card base is Cuttlebug embossed with the Swiss Dots folder — so perfect for a baby card!!!  The 1″ Wide Satin Ribbon is also just perfect for a baby card — it reminds me of the binding on a soft and cuddly baby blanket!!!  The ribbon wraps completely around the card front.  The sentiment is also from Rock-a-Bye-Baby and it is adhered tight to the card on top and popped up on dimensionals on the bottom.   It was cut and embossed with the circle Nestabilities.

  • Stamps: Rock-a-Bye Baby by Flourishes.
  • Paper:  White.  Prism:  Razzleberry Light, Frosted Pink, Frosted Teal.
  • Ink:  Versa Fine Onyx Black.
  • Accessories:  Waterbrush, Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots Folder, Nestabilities, Satin Ribbon, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, and H20’s in:  Lemondrop, Apple Blossom, Guatemalen Green, Pewter, Honey Amber, all from set #1259.

That’s it — this was a relatively simple card!!!  Hope you enjoy it!!!  Thursday night’s post will be our weekly Stamp Simply Challenge, and again, it’s an easy one that anyone can play!!!  Thanks so much for stopping in again — truly appreciate it!!!

Flourished Baby

This is a gift bag and card I made for a baby gift.  The only stamping is the word *Baby* in that ever so elegant font from Flourished Words by Flourishes.  I used 2 different embossing folders in the Cuttlebug and a Martha Stewart Lace Punch as well as a small tag punch by Marvy.  On the card I also used the rectangle Nestabilities by Spellbinders.  The only papers used on this project are Almost Amethyst and White; however, I was very photo challenged today with this project and my Amethyst is looking various shades in the different photos.  Here is the gift bag:

cb-baby-bag-520-wm-notime.jpg

This is a handled white bag from Wal-Mart, about 8 x 10.  I covered the front and back, much like a genie bag.    The center image is first embossed with the Bow Frame onto white paper which was cut longer than the embossing folder.  Then I ran that same piece through the Cuttlebug again with the Swiss Dots folder down near the bottom.  I then punched the lace with the Martha Stewart Lace Punch, and then framed the entire piece in Almost Amethyst.   I’ve taken a more close up view so you can see some of the details better — here it is:

cb-baby-detail-520-wm-notime.jpg

Can you see the Swiss Dots inside the embossed package?  I just cut a scrap of the Swiss Dots to about 1.5″ square and popped it into place.  Fun!!!  The tag is punched, mounted on a Pop Dot.  There is an eyelet in the hole.  Now, I know the next question is going to be — how did I get such a large embossed piece to frame the main image — right?  I took a picture of my pieces as I think that makes it easier to understand.

cb-baby-pieces-520-wm-notime.jpg

OK, the Amethyst piece is cut to fit my bag (just a little overhang on the top and sides).  The two white pieces you see attached are scraps, but they serve to make the horizontal band behind the main image.  It doesn’t matter that they don’t meet as they get covered up anyway.  Now to make the large panel to frame my main image — can you see what I’ve done?    I ran two pieces through the Cuttlebug and adhered them together to make the size frame/matting I needed.  These pieces are each 4 x 5.25″.  Once determining how large I needed the mat to be, I just taped them together, then adhered my main image to my newly created mat.  The seam is slightly visible, but not enough to bother me — I think it blends in very well and the eye is drawn to the interest in the center anyway, not those tiny bits of seam.  Now, that being said, this could have all been embossed as one piece as explained here, but I was using up pieces left from a previous project, so it’s just another way to get the job done!  The entire matted panel is adhered to the bag with mounting tape.

Looking back up at the full view of the bag, I ran a long strip through the Cuttlebug and then punched the lace with the Martha Stewart Punch.  I thought that bottom row of lace added so much to the bag.  If you are wondering how I got such a long row of Swiss Dots, click here where I explained it on an earlier project.   And here’s the card I made to coordinate:

cb-baby-card-520-wm-notime.jpg

This is pretty much the same as the bag, but I used the rectangle Nestabilities by Spellbinders to frame my embossed gift.  Fun!!!  I first embossed with the Bow Frame folder.  Then I cut the embossed image out, and embossed it, with the Nestabilites.

OK, so much for this one today - thanks so much for stopping in!!  Truly appreciate it!!!

Baby Shower Decor

I had no intention of starting a project like this today, but — Jen just HAD to post a super fun TLC today at SCS — it was to make those little fortune teller things we made as kids, only to use them as candy dishes — well,  it was just what I needed today — a candy dish — LOL!!! But truly, I did!!!  This will be a little gift, and it is JUST the perfect gift for what I need!!! Thanks, Jen!!!  Here it is:

tlc-baby-decor-540-wm-notime.jpg

This was made to coordinate with many other things I’ve done with Nursery Necessities.  A friend is making both baby shower invites and baby shower thank yous, so I made this to coordinate with them, thinking she may be able to use it at the shower, or make more if she likes.  I made the base with a sheet of 12 x 12 So Saffron, so this is large. It measures 6 1/2″ across the top.  If you follow the links from the Try a New Technique Challenge, you will find both written instructions and photos, which come from Martha Stewart. It’s just like those silly little finger things we made as kids — there was a message written on each little section — remember?

Anyway, once mine was made, remember now, mine is large, I cut four 2 1/4″  square pieces of So Saffron DP and mounted them on 2 1/2″ pieces of Bashful Blue, then adhered them to the four outside sections as shown.  Then using the same measurements, I made the 4 boat sections.  I then *connected* them with brads to the panels with the DP, so it looks like my dish base has 8 peaks now, rather than four.  This dish is super solid and sturdy, first because it is made with the heavy weight SU cardstock, and second because it is further *secured* with the connecting boat pieces using the brads.

The center post is a pencil covered in DP.  The top is two 3″ circles decorated with moon and stars.  They are stuck together with the fat Pop Dots from Wal-mart.  That allows room for the pencil in between.  The bow is stuck on top with Mini Glue Dots.  The moon is punched with a 1 3/8″ punch for the inner circle and a 2″ punch (or Coluzzle) for the outer circle.  It is outlined with a glue pen and covered with Dazzling Diamonds, as are the small stars on the circle.  The large star is stamped in blue, punched with the star punch, smooshed into the Versa Mark pad, then embossed with Iridescent Ice.  The blue ring on the post is supposed to be an inner tube (boat theme — get it?), but I know, it really doesn’t look much like an inner tube.  After it was all put together, I realize I should have stamped *it’s a boy* on the tube, but I didn’t want to take it apart.  Oh well –

  • Stamps:  Nursery Necessities
  • Paper:  12 x 12 So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, So Saffron Prints DP
  • Ink:  Black Stazon,  Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Versa Mark, and markers in same colors
  • Accessories:  Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Blue Taffeta, Brads, Star Punch, Round Punches in 1/2″, 1 3/8″, 2″, 3″ (or Coluzzle), Sponge, Pop Dots, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots

I think that pretty well explains it!!!  Fun challenge, and if you don’t decorate as much as I did, these really do go together quickly!!!  Thanks again for stopping in — have a great Monday!!!

Vintage Nursery

This is a card I did a few weeks ago for Jami’s swap and we couldn’t post until the swaps were out.  I still haven’t received my box, but I am so anxiously waiting!!!  Thank you girls!!!  I called this Vintage Nursery because these colors look so vintage to me - this makes me think of vintage baby.  I had to use the colors from the Boho West color scheme in the SU catalog and Nursery Necessities.  Here it is:

jami-swap-jan08-540-wm-notime.jpg

The base is Chocolate Chip, with a Purely Pomegranate layer on top and then the white panel, stamped with Pretty in Pink using the Floral background stamp, edges lightly sponged to finish and soften.  I used the corner rounder with the guard removed to create the scallop and used the Crop-a-dile to punch the holes.

The moon is stamped in Craft Regal Rose and embossed with Iridiscent Ice.  The inner circle is punched out with the 1 3/8″ punch and the outer circle can be punched with a 2″ punch (non SU) or cut out with the Coluzzle.  It is then mounted onto a 2 1/2″ circle (again, using a non-SU punch or the Coluzzle).  On this Pomeganate circle I stamped a few stars in the same color ink, outlined with a glue pen and sprinkled on Dazzling Diamonds.  The star is stamped onto white paper with Chocolate Chip ink, classic, as I didn’t have Craft.  Then to emboss it with the Iridescent Ice, I first punched it out and then I had to smoosh it into a Versa Mark pad, and it worked great!!!  The sentiment is also from Nursery Necessities.  The ribbon is the Chocolate Taffeta!!!  I LOVE this set!!!

  • Stamps:  Nursery Necessities, Floral
  • Paper:  Chocolate Chip, Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White
  • Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate, Chocolate Chip, Versa Mark, Black Stazon, Craft in Regal Rose
  • Accessories:  Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Taffeta Ribbon, Star Punch, 1 3/8″ Punch, Coluzzle, Corner Rounder, Crop-a-Dile, Sponge, Dimensionals

That’s it for tonight!!!  A little SU gift set of some sort is next on my list, and then some Flourishes new releases soon to come!!! Can’t wait!!!  Thank you so much for stopping in!!!

Adorable Giraffe!

I was so pleased to receive an envelope in the mail with some images in it from one of the newly released sets by Gina K.  It’s called Just So Hippy and the stamp artist is Melanie Muenchinger, one of the Dirty Dozen Alumni from SCS.    Here’s the link to Melanie’s New Blog and here’s the link to her SCS Gallery. This set is available for purchase from Gina K Designs.

hippy-giraffe-540-wm-notime.jpg

When I started this card, I planned to make a baby card.  Well, now when I look at  the finished product, I think this would serve well as a baby girl card, but I think it could be used for other purposes as well for a girl of any age!!!  Isn’t that *Hippy Giraffe* just the cutest?

I colored her with Colorbox Fluid Chalk Inks and a blender pen, and shadowed her with a Sahara Sand marker.  I put her panel askew, just for some added interest.  The gorgeously colored papers I’ve used on this are all from the Prismatics line by Prism Paper.  They have just the softest, prettiest pastels anywhere — totally love them!!   The balloon is up on a Pot Dot, with the string being hand drawn.  The tiny white flowers on the right edge are SU Eastern Elegance Rub-Ons (very cool to use!).  The brads filled in a dead spot and add interest.  The pretty satin ribbon with picot trim is super soft, like the binding on a well worn baby blanket, and it is from Michaels (love it!!!).   It is run under the main image through holes made with the Horizontal Slot Punch.

  • Stamps:  Just So Hippy by Gina K
  • Paper:  Unknown white.  Prismatics Paper by Prism in:  Sunflower Light, Blush Red Light and Suede Brown Medium.
  • Ink:  Versa Fine Onyx Black, ColorBox Fluid Chalk Ink in Rouge, Bisque and Chestnut Roan.  SU markers in Sahara Sand and Basic Black.
  • Accessories:  Blender Pen, Ribbon, Horizontal Slot Punch, 1 1/4″ and 1 3/8″ Round Punches (all punches from SU), SU Eastern Elegance Rub-ons, Pop Dot.

Hint about Rub-ons:  I’ve had very little experience with rub-ons until I just recently got my new SU Rub-ons!!!  What marvelous things!!!  I find having the rub-ons to rely on to fill in dead spaces makes layout a breeze — if something doesn’t fit quite right, just push it over enough to make room for the rub-on of your choice!!!  I’ve been using them a lot this past week and I am just loving them!!!  If you haven’t tried them yet, you really must!!!  Easy to apply, attractive to the eye, and very useful in planning layouts!!!

That’s it for today!!!  I’m teaching classes all day tomorrow, so I’m thinking my next post may be an Oldie But Goodie — let me go and see what I can find!!!  Thanks much for popping in!!!  Hope you are having a great day!!!

Nursery Thanks

Not too long ago I did several cards using Nursery Necessities.  A good friend of mine is expecting her first grandchild and she will be making the baby shower invites.  This is the card that was chosen by the mother-to-be for the invitations.  My friend will also be making all the thank you notes, and she asked me to come up with  another design that will coordinate with the invitations.  Here it is:

baby-thanks-540-wm-notime.jpg

(That little fleck of black and the gunked up DD on the small star were fixed after the photo — gee, but I wish I would see these things before I take my pictures!)

This is another card I did for today’s Featured Stamper Challenge at SCS. The featured stamper is I’mVeronica and you can see her gallery hereThis is the card I chose to case for this baby shower thank you.  Knowing I needed to use this little sailboat, I thought the layout on Veronica’s card was perfect, so I went with it.  I, of course, used a different image and different colors.  I omitted her corners but used a moon/star instead.  I also added ribbon.  This was a great layout!  Thanks, Veronica!!!

I colored the rubber with markers for the sailboat.  Stars are punched with the star punches.  The moon is first stamped on white paper, the inner portion is punched with the 1 3/8″ punch and then the outer portion is punched with a 2″ punch, or the Coluzzle would also work.  The alphabet under panel was rolled with a jumbo wheel.  Taffeta ribbon was used.  All punched pieces were adorned with Dazzling Diamonds.  I think it’s a cute boy thank you card and it does coordinate well with the invitation.

  • Stamps:  Nursery Necessities, Nursery Letters Wheel, Much Appreciated
  • Paper:  Bashful Blue, Whisper White, So Saffron Prints  Designer Paper
  • Ink:  Black Stazon and Markers in Bashful Blue and So Saffron
  • Accessories:  Taffeta Ribbon, Large and Small Star Punches, 1 3/8″ and 2″ Circle Punches, Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals.

That’s it for this evening!!! Hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for a new week!!!  Thanks for stopping in!!!

January Workshop

jan-workshop-gift-cards-540-wm-notime.jpg

Well, I’m all set for my 1st workshop for 2008 so I thought I’d show you what I have planned.  The 3 cards above, made with the Cuttlebug and Scor-Pal, will be part of the Hostess Gift for my hostess.  Now, I can just see some of you SU demos shaking your heads, wondering why I am featuring something with the Cuttlebug and Scor-Pal.  Well, let me explain.  I always try to personalize my Hostess Gifts, making something for the hostess that I know (hope, anyway) that she will enjoy.  This hostess has a Cuttlebug, which she rarely uses — as is the case with many of my other customers who will be attending.  I want them to use and enjoy the fun things that they have.  By showing them these quick and simple cards, I’m hoping they will feel inspired to create themselves and use their tools and other supplies.  And I know this hostess appreciates receiving ready made cards, so I hope she likes these!!!

Again, these are what I’m calling my Cuttle-Pal cards — SO quick and easy. For this set I used the full size hearts folder.  I inserted only 2″ of the paper into the folder and ran it though the Cuttlebug like that.  Then flip it over, wrong side up, lay it on your Scor-Pal with the embossed edge on the 2″ mark, and score at 4 1/4 and 4 1/2.  When you flip it over it should look like the cards above.  So quick and easy!!!  The oval tags are just adhered with Dimensionals.  Words are from Warm Words.  Paper and ribbon is Regal Rose. (I’ve edited this post to add a photo on how to put the paper in the Cuttlebug — see end of post)

jan-workshop-bag-520-wm-notime.jpg

This is a little candy treat bag I also made for my hostess, filled with Valentine M & M’s.  Again, I used the Cuttlebug to create the embossed hearts so it would coordinate with the set of cards.  To create the topper I first stapled the Regal Rose piece to the bag to keep everything together.  My white piece, which is folded on top, is the same on the back as on the front.  I kept it folded before inserting it into the embossing folder, so it embossed both the back and front at the same time. Now normally when you do this, the front is EMbossed and the back is DEbossed.  However, with THIS folder, both sides came the same.  When you study the design, you will see that the alternating hearts are embossed and debossed (one raised up, one sunk in), so the back side is never *wrong*, so to speak — I don’t know if I’m explaining this right — hope you get what I mean!  The *thanks* is from Much Appreciated. Again, Regal Rose ribbon.

jan-workshop-cards-540-wm-notime.jpg

These are the 2 cards we’ll be doing at the workshop, and I’m not going into great detail on either as they are very similar to other recent uploads I have done here.   The elephant card (Happy Heart Day) is pretty much the same as a recent upload, I just cut a few corners to make it easier for a workshop.  There is no scallop border on the green strip, the background covers most of the card, allowing me to wrap my ribbon behind this panel, rather than wrap it around the entire card as on the previous upload seen here.  And this card has a Celery base, which I like better than the previous card.

The baby boy card (Nursery Necessities) is kind of a masculine remake of this card previously done in pinks, but incorporating aspects of this card and this card.

jan-workshop-cb-folder.jpg

(I’m editing this post to include the above photo as it was apparently unclear what I meant when I said to insert only 2″ of paper into the folder — can you see now?  2″ on the right side of your paper is inserted into the folder, and run through the Cuttlebug like this.  Hope this clears it up!)

Well, I guess that’s it!!  I’m looking forward to my first workshop with the new catalog!!!  Hope everyone enjoys it!!!  And THANK YOU so much for stopping in here — I truly do apprecite it!!! Thanks everyone!!!

Cuttle-Pal Chick and Answers

I am so sorry to bore you folks to death, but I just can’t get off this kick!  I am *so* into these super simple and quick cards lately using a combination of the Cuttlebug and Scor-Pal, and I can’t seem to put Nursery Necessities away - I just love it!!!  Here’s my latest:

girlie-cuttle-pal-520-wm-notime.jpg

This is made in a similar fashion to the cards in my previous posts.  White panel is 4 x 5.25″.  The small folder was used to emboss with the Cuttlebug.  Place the folder in the center, run through the CB, then do each side, so it is going through the CB 3 times.  Then take it to the Scor-Pal, turn it upside down so the embossed squares are facing the table (wrong side up), line up the top of the embossed square on the 4 1/2″ line, then score at the 4 1/4 and 4″ lines, pressing hard and going over it twice to get a good impression.  Turn it over and it should look like the above. Stamp as shown, attach ribbon to panel, attach completed panel to card base — done!!!  Another super quickie with the use of good and fun tools!!!

  • Stamps:  Nursery Necessities
  • Paper:  Whisper White, Pretty in Pink
  • Ink:  Pretty in Pink and Basic Black Markers,  Black Stazon
  • Accessories:  Ribbon, Cuttlebug, Stitched Squares Embossing Folder, Scor-Pal

ETA:  And now that I see this on the monitor, I notice my little chickies need some eyes –a little black dot will do it — so often I think I’m *done*, then when I see it on the monitor some *unfinished* aspect of it just jumps out at me!!!  Oh well — easy enough to fix!!!

My last few posts have generated a lot of questions, so I guess that means I didn’t do a very good job of explaining things — so rather than answer all the emails, I’ll try to address the questions here — and there are basically only 2 questions, but they’ve been asked repeatedly:

 1)  A lot of you out there are unaware of what the small folder is - so here’s a picture — it’s on the same size display card as the full size folder, it contains 4 small folders, is about $6.  I got mine from Michael’s, but if you Google search for Cuttlebug, a ton of places will pop up where you can order them online.   The two sets I have are called Stitched Squares and Fancy Corners.  Here’s the picture:

cb-small-folders-520-notime.jpg

2) Everyone wanted to know the exact size of the box I used here.  I will be the first to admit, the Clear Bag site is not the most user friendly!  The box you see in that post is  4 1/2″ x 5 7/8″ x 1″ thick.  It is item number FB17, and is found on this page.  From that same page I also ordered FB6, which is  1/2″thick, and FB3, which is 5/8″ thick, though I  haven’t yet used either of those 2 sizes.

That’s it , once again!!!  Stay tuned for some fun uploads at SCS on Thursday, the 20th.  Not sure if I can say or if it’s a secret, so I won’t — LOL!!!  But keep your eyes open, and I’ll post here very early on Thursday and spill the beans then!!!  Thanks much!!!

Cuttle-Pal Babies

I was planning to make a gift set out of Nursery Necesseties, but time is getting away on me, so when I saw Beth’s TLC challenge today at SCS I thought I’d get two cards done anyway — and I’ll do more later, if time permits.  The challenge was to do a technique called Dazzling Diamond Dust — which always confuses me — because you don’t use Dazzling Diamonds at all, you use Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder - but it looks very Dazzling and like Diamonds when it is done — LOL!!!  Here are my cards:

wt-cuttle-pal-baby-520-wm-notime.jpg

Both of these cards use the Cuttlebug and the Scor-Pal for dry embossing.  My white panel is cut 4 x 5.25″.  First I did the Scor-Paling.  I lined the left edge of the panel up at about 3 1/4″ — there is no mark there, just guess.  Then score 3 lines at the 4, 4 1/4″ and 4 1/2″.  I went over it hard and twice to make a good impression.  This is the WRONG side of the panel. Flip it over.  The 3 lines should be like you see above.  Now, take your CB folder, insert the panel and line the left edge of the folder up with the third scored line, and run through your machine — done — quick, huh?  Now, attach the ribbon and adhere this panel to your card.

Next make the main image panels and stars, cover them with Versa Mark and emboss them with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.  Adhere to card with Pop Dots, elevating the star higher than the round panel.

  • Stamps:  Nursery Necessities
  • Paper:  Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana
  • Ink:  Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Versa Mark, Signo White Gel Pen

On this post I give instructions on how to neatly punch out the moon.

A note about using Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder — I find it a bit more touchy than other powders.  It embosses very quickly and will burn quickly as well if you don’t keep on a moving with your gun.  I always just watch for the sparkle, telling me it’s done.  And it’s better to under heat it — you can then feel with your finger — if it flakes off, emboss some more.  When it is properly adhered, it is tight, will not flake and has a sand paper feel.

That’s it — time is short — got to run!!!  I have so many more sets to get done before Christmas with a variety of themes, so please stop in again.  Thanks much!!!  Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season!!!
