Vintage Baby Gift Card Holder

I love to make gift card holders and this is in a non-traditional size with a vintage feel.  In shades of soft yellows, ivory and a touch of blue I consider this to be gender-neutral, suitable for either a girl or boy.  And it is oversized, not made to fit into an envelope but meant to be given as is, either personally to the new Mom and Dad or at a baby shower, or how pretty it would be gently placed in a gift basket along with other beautiful goodies. It is made from one full 8 1/2 x 11″ sheet of cardstock and the finished measurements are 4 1/2 x 8 1/2. Instructions to follow later in the post.  But let’s take a look:

vintage-gc-front-new-480-wm-notime.jpg

I loved the vintage feel of this DP by SU (Bella Birds), so I added a border with a Martha Stewart Lace Punch and my 100% Ivory Silk Bow.  This image from the Baby Stamp Ensemble by JustRite also has a vintage feel to it that I love!

vintage-gc-focal-detail-440-notime.jpg

The image is stamped in VersaFine Vintage Sepia (it was the perfect shade of brown) and Copic colored.  Be mindful, VersaFine is NOT the ink you would typically use to Copic color, I just cheated as I wanted that color today.  My image from the Baby Stamp Ensemble was cut and layered with my Petite Oval Nestabilities, and Kaiser Pearls in Champagne were added.

vintage-gc-bow-detail-440-notime.jpg

Here you can better see the detail of the lace punched border and my bow using 100% Silk Ribbon, made on the Bow Easy.

vintage-gc-inside-440-wm-notime.jpg

Here is the gift card holder inside.  The large pocket can hold all kinds of goodies.  The top flap is held securely closed with a Velcro Dot closure.

 vintage-gc-product-notime.jpg

This is the Baby Stamp Ensemble by JustRite and the good news is — it’s currently on sale at the JustRite Stampers site!  It requires the 2 1/4 x 3 1/16″ Oval Stamper.  That’s the same oval stamper we’ve been using of late with Autumn Blessings and Thinking of You.  And as you can see in the photo, I always cut out my images to remove the excess rubber as it does have a tendency to pick up unwanted ink.  This solves the problem quickly and easily!

If you care to look, here’s a baby girl gift card holder in the traditional size I did with this same set nearly a year ago.

And quickly, here’s the how-to on this gift card holder.

Using an 8.5 x 11″ sheet of cardstock, punch a lace border along one 8.5″ edge.  If you start exactly in the middle with your punch, then work both to the left and right, your scallop design will be perfectly centered.

Score 2.5″ from the opposite short edge, and again 4.5″ in from the first score line.

That’s your basic card holder, now just decorate away!

Buttons and Bows for Baby Boys

Today I have a Buttons and Bows card for a baby boy!  And even with buttons and bows it does look boyish enough — for a newborn anyway!   The card is quite simple, using a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background and machine stitching on the focal image.

eli-anderw-480-wm-notime.jpg

I made this for our newest great-nephew, Eli Andrew, who came into the world on July 1.  We hope to see him this weekend!  The image is from the Baby Boy Cotton Scraps, cut with Fiskars Pinking Sheers, matted onto cardstock which is stitched at the sewing machine.  The Taupe Silk Ribbon is a good match to the SU Close to Cocoa cardstock and the bow is made with the Bow Easy.

eli-andrew-detail-386-notime.jpg

A fun and quick way to prepare a focal image panel at the sewing machine.  It is elevated on foam mounting tape.  The button is threaded with Ivory Jute String.

Stamps:  None

Paper:  SU Soft Sky, Close to Cocoa; PTI Vintage Cream

Ink:  ColorBox Chalk Creamy Brown

Accessories:  Baby Boy Cotton Scraps, 1.25″ and 1/4″ Silk Taupe Ribbon, Bow Easy, Ivory String, Cuttlebug and Embossing Folder, Pinking Shears, Button, Sewing Machine and Thread, Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue, Mounting Tape, Glue Glider (from Joan’s Garden).

Shopping:  The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store has the Cotton Scraps, Pinking Shears, Silk Ribbon, String and Bow Easy.

I’m so glad you stopped in again today!  Next up is our Stamp Simply Challenge for the week, and this week proves to be a fun one, so please do try to  check back in late Thursday night or Friday if you can!!! Thanks much — and have a GREAT day!

Buttons and Bows…

… and new found friends from afar and fun and games on top of it all! I was thrilled when a few weeks back I received an invitation to play with some very talented girls *across the pond* in the United Kingdom.  As a result I’ve run across some blogs that are new to me and seen some awesome creations that I’d like to share with all of you today.

The Next Level is relatively new.  Each week they put forth a challenge, their talented DT creates projects, and the public is invited to play.  Sponsors are also involved each week, which means a chance for the participants to win some wonderful merchandise.  This week’s theme is *Buttons and Bows*.  I was invited to play along with their DT this week and all of you are also invited to play and link your creations.  Of those playing,  multiple winners will be drawn for prizes!  How fun! Click here to see the prize offerings this week.  Click here to get to the challenge page of The Next Level and read the details and see all the cards created by the DT with links to their blogs.  Be sure to click into their blogs to get all the fun details on their projects!

Here is my Buttons and Bows creation:

buttons-bows-480-wm-notime.jpg

What’s more appropriate for a Buttons and Bows creation that a Sweet Baby Girl card!  I made this card quite simply by using many little pretties – Cotton Scraps (Baby Girl) for the focal image, cut with Fiskars Pinking Shears and stitched onto a pink mat which was then distressed.  My background is done with the Cuttlebug and an embossing folder, my ribbon is 1.25″ wide May Arts Pink Silk, the bow being made on the Bow Easy, and my little buttons are from Wal-Mart, the larger one being tied with 100% Jute String by May Arts.  And that’s about it — just a matter of putting a few pretty things together — my FAVORITE way to make a card!!!

Stamps and Ink:  None

Paper:  PTI Vintage Cream, SU Pink Pirouette

Accessories:  Cotton Scraps Baby Girl, 1.25″ and 1/4″ Pink Silk Ribbon, Ivory Jute String, Bow Easy,Fiskars Pinking Shears and Scor-It, all from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store; Buttons and Aleene’s Fast Grab Tacky Glue from Wal-Mart; Glue Glider from Joan’s Garden; Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots Embossing Folder; SU Corner Rounder; Sewing Machine and Thread; Scissor Blades to distress.

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  I hope you take the time to check out The Next Level Buttons and Bows Blog Challenge for this week and play along if you have the time.  Playing and linking your creation will enter you in the drawing for prizes, and what could be more fun!!!

Thanks all — see you real soon!

Bella, Bunnies and Bows!

Today’s card could serve equally as well as an Easter card or a baby girl card. I used an Easter sentiment for today. I’ve paired SU’s lovely Bella Birds DP, with a Martha Stewart Felt Applique Bunny and my gorgoues May Arts satin ribbon. Not much stamping here, just a fun card to put together.

If you missed my last post, I just want to point out that I’ve added new Sheers and SILKS to my humble little Ribbon Sale listed in the tab above my Blog Banner. I have really fallen for these luxurious silks — just so yummy!!! I have them in 10 colors and 2 widths and you can see them here. Back to my card for today, using pink silk — here it is:

wsc-bella-birds-bunny-480-wm-notime.jpg

See what I mean about it being suitable for either Easter or a baby girl? I think so, anyway! I’m loving pinks and yellows together of late and this card uses a bit of added grayish blue as well. The layout I used is from this week’s Weekend Sketch Challenge hosted this week by Charmaine.Easy and fun sketch! If some days you feel stumped, start with a sketch — it’s a sure fire way to get you going!!!Here’s some closer detail views:

wsc74-bella-birds-bow-detail-440-wm-notime.jpg

I can’t tell you how much I’m loving using this new silk ribbon. My bow is made using the 1.5″ width. It is SO lightweight and it just ties up so nicely. And see my neat bow center/knot? Well I did that by taking the 1/4″ width of the same pink silk, running it through holes on my tags and thentying it to the bow knot. The 1/4″ width perfectly covered the real knot and makes for a neat appearance while also serving to hang my tags — and it’s quick and simple — no fuss!!! The sentiment stamps are from The Cross of Christ by Our Daily Bread and fit perfectly on my little Tags Trio dies by Spellbinders.

wsc74-bella-birds-bunny-detail-440-wm-notime.jpg

And here’s my Martha Stewart Felt Applique bunnyfrom a sheet I picked up at Michaels. He is just mounted on some Nestie cut ovals and the little scrollies in the corners are from my newFlourish Accent Nesties. Fun little do-dads!!! I just run them through my Xyron X and they stick wherever they are placed.

Stamps: The Cross of Christ by Our Daily Bread

Paper: SU White, Pink Pirouette, Barely Banana, Bella Birds DP

Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black

Accessories: May Arts Silk Ribbon available at My Ribbon Sale above my blog banner;Spellbinders: Petite Oval Nestabilities, Flourish Accent Nesties and Tags Trio; Kaiser Rhinestones; Glue Glider; SU Corner Rounder and Dimensionals; Martha Stewart Felt Applique.

JustRite Baby Girl!

I’m two baby gifts behind. Today I made a gift card holder for a soon-to-be-born little girl — how exciting!!! This particular style of gift card holder is tried and true, a style I’ve done dozens of times, and I love it because it is so quick and simple and can then be decorated to suit any person or situation. All you have to do is remember to score at 2″ and 6″ — that’s it. Start with a 1/2 sheet of paper (8.5 x 5.5), and score at 2″ and 6″. I can not take credit for this template, but I sure have made a lot of good use ofit. I found it playing a challenge a couple years back at SCS. Here’s my Baby Girl Gift Card Holder:

girl-gift-holder-480-wm-notime.jpg

All pink and lacy today. The papers are Eva by Basic Grey. And aren’t those just the most darling little shoes you have ever seen? I love them. They are from theJustRite Baby Stamp Ensemble and are Copic coloredand then cut, embossed and matted with my Petite Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders. I pierced the scalloped layer. The border lace is punched with a Martha Stewart border punch.

girl-gift-holder-detail-440-wm-notime.jpg

Those tiny little buttons are from Wal-Mart and they are sewn on using embroidery floss. And I love using satin ribbon on baby cards — it always make me think of the binding on a baby blanket. And see the Welcome Baby in the upper corner? I did that with my JustRite Rectangle Stamper and Times New Roman Font, 25 pt., both Uppercase and Lowercase. It was JUST the perfect size for what I wanted! Take a look at the product I used today:

girl-gift-holder-product-480-notime.jpg

As I said above, those darling shoes came from the JustRite Baby Stamp Ensemble which is made to use with the Harmony Classic Oval Stamper II. And can you see how I’ve cut out my shoes? As I’ve said many times, I often like to use my JustRite centers in ways other than they were originally intended (omitting the border or punching into a different shape), and by cutting out my image and getting rid of the excess rubber, I’m able to get a cleaner image when stamping without the border. Don’t be afraid to cut away your excess rubber! My tiny sentiment was made using Times New Roman Uppercase Font for the capital letters and Times New Roman Lowercase Font for the remaining letters, both in 25 pt. A perfect size for what I needed here. I snapped my letters into the smaller of blocks in the Harmony RectangleStamper Set.The Lowercase Font is a new product and should be available real, real soon. You can preorder now! All else I used is currently available. And please remember, once you start purchasing and using the various JustRite products, they are made to be interchangeable and work with many other of the JustRite products as well. That’s fun and gives you a ton of options!!!

girl-gift-holder-inside-440-wm-notime.jpg

Here’s the inside of my gift card holder. You can see the pocket on the bottom to hold the gift card (secure the sides with sticky tape, I used my Glue Glider). You can see how my main image oval hangs beneath the top flap and how I’ve attached a Velcro sticky dot to hold the gift card holder closed. It works GREAT! I know there are little magnets available to do the same thing, I’ve just never had any to try.

If you’ve never tried one of these super simple gift card holders, I urge you to give one a try. Super quick, simple and FUN!!! And SO easy to personalize!!!

Stamps: All by JustRite: Baby Stamp Ensemble with the Harmony Classic Oval Stamper II, Times New Roman Font Uppercase, Times New Roman Font Lowercase, with the Harmony Rectangle Stamper.

Paper: PTI White, Eva by Basic Grey.

Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black for sentiment. Memento Tuxedo Black for image. Copic RV11, C1, O for shoes.

Accessories: May Arts Ribbon, Petite Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders, Martha Stewart Lace Border Punch, Wal-Mart Buttons and Velcro, Needle and Embroidery Floss, SU Piercer and Mat Pack, Glue Glider.

Thanks so much for stopping in here again today!!! I can not tell you often enough how much I do appreciate all your visits and comments!!! Hoping you are all having a wonderful weekend, and hope you are warmer than we are (-21 this morning, and that’s cold!)!!! I now have an altered project in mind for a baby boy, so that should be up real soon!!!

Stamp Simply #73 - Let’s Get Negative!

Keyword ssnotime73 -There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload yourproject at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!)can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

LET’S GET NEGATIVE - with negative images that is!!! You can do this challenge by using negative images of punches or die cuts OR by using a negative image, or reversed out, stamp. (When punching out a shape, the negative image is the sheet left over with the hole in it, rather than the object punched. A negative image stamp is one where the main image or words are left unstamped, but all the surrounding area is stamped - just the opposite of a normal stamp) To clarify, you MAY use the punched or die cut shape ALONG WITH your negative image if you desire, as long as the negative image is used as well. Same with stamps — you may use a regular stamp, as long as a negative image stampis used. As long as there is one negative image on your card it’s OK, you need not incorporate both stamps and punches, but you have the option to use either, or both. So, today it’s totally OK to be Negative!!! Let’s go for it — can’t wait to see what you all do!!!

I’dlike to offer aHUGE THANKS to Deb Saaranen (Dream in Color) for being our Guest Designer for the month of January. Deb graced us with many beautiful samples — thank you so much, Deb!!! Be sure to check in at Deb’s Blog often so you won’t miss her wonderful creations!!!!

And with a new month beginning, I’d like to extend a WARM WELCOME to Heather Telford (bits and pieces) who will serve as our February Guest Designer! You will all remember Heather from our Stamp Simply Celebrates! event when she graced us with so many beautiful creations. So happy to have you back this month, Heather - thank you so much!!!

Some great samples for the Stamp Simply Challenge today can be seen on the blogs of these designers:Heather, Dee, Tammy, Janine, AJ,Julie and Jennifer. Becky is taking the week off, but she’ll be back next week! Please bear with us as we are all uploading and linking on Thursday night.

You can see all Gallery Submissions here.

What wonderful samples!!! Thank you girls!!! Much appreciated!!!

I went super simple with my card today — SUPER SIMPLE — LOL!!! Here it is:

negative-heart-480-wm-notime.jpg

My negative image die cut Nestie heart is the card front. I just opened up my card, placed the heart Nestie where I wanted it, ran it through my Cuttlebug to cut and once again to emboss. I had a beautiful heart shaped opening in seconds flat!!! Fun!!! Then, using my Scor-It, I embossed (or scored) 1/2″ from all 4 edges of the card — really finished it off nicely!!! I then cut a smaller heart from pink, embossed it, and adhered to my card inside. I added a single pearl (I love the pure white pearls by Kaiser — they are called Snow), a little satin bow and I’m good!!! Quick, simple, FUN, and I think pretty!!! What more can you ask!!!

negative-heart-negative-480-wm-notime.jpg

Here’s the card standing and open so you can see the negative heart cutout. This card is 5.5″ high x 5″ wide. My bow is adhered with a mini glue dot.

negative-heart-inside-420-wm-notime.jpg

Here’s the opened view of the inside. When signing the card one must be careful where you write as you don’t want your writing to show through the card front. I know this looks like a Valentine, and it certainly could be, but I have a baby shower on Saturday and I do believe they know it’s a girl, so I may just use this for a baby shower card!

Stamps: None

Paper: PTI White, SU Pink Pirouette

Ink: None

Accessories: Heart Nestabilities by Spellbinders, Scor-It, Snow White Kaiser Pearls, Offray 1/4″ Satin Ribbon, Glue Glider, SU Mini Glue Dots.

Note: The Heart Nestabilities by Spellbinders, the Scor-It, Kaiser Pearls and Glue Glider are available at Joan’s Garden.

Thanks much for checking in again today. This is a fun challenge and I hope you have time to give it a try!!! I think you’ll enjoy it!!! Be sure to check out the designers linked above for a lot more creative ways to use negatives. Hope you can find time to enjoy your weekend ahead!!! See you all soon!!!

Please Pray

I made this card to send to a family who just gave birth to twinpreemie girls. Stacy, Twinshappy, an SCS and blogging friend, wrote and asked for prayers primarly, and cards secondarily, for her friend’s family and these precious babies. The identical twin girls were born a day or two ago at 1# and 3#. Their names areHope and Peyton. Please keep them in your prayers. Thank you.

Knowing I was going to do a card for baby girls, pink was the obvious choice. I checked out the Inspiration Challenge at SCS, and the inspiration photos were of girls bedrooms decorated in pinks and other colors. For my inspiration I chose the 3rd photo that has more yellow in the room decor. I went with Pink Pirouette, Barely Banana andretired Mint Melody. Here’s my card, with double hearts for Hope and Peyton.

better-ic151-twin-girls-480-wm-notime.jpg

I’ll mail this card on Monday and hope it brings some comfort or momentary pleasure to the family. It was rather hard to decide what the sentiment should say. Congratulations or other typical new baby sentiments just didn’t seem quite right, so I settled on a heartfelt *Keeping you close in thought and prayer.* I am also very lacking in baby stamps, especially baby girl stamps, but I thought these adorable hearts from Simply Said would work, and I think they did. They were cut, embossed and matted using my Heart Nestabilities, layered on a frame made with Oval Nestabilities. The Oval Nesties also cut and embossed my sentiment. The bottom lacey border was done with a Martha Stewart Lace Punch, then I ran a single line of embossing just above the lace border. It was easily done with my Scor-It. Added a few pearls, buttons and ribbon and that finished it off.

Stamps: Simply Said and retired Hope for Comfort

Paper: Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Barely Banana and retired Mint Melody

Ink: Black Stazon, Markers

Accessories: Pink Taffeta, Ticket Corner Punch, Martha Stewart Lace Punch, Scor-It, Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots Folder, Heart Nestabilities and Petite Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders, Buttons, Pearls

Thank you so much for stopping in again today. I do so appreciate it!!! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!!!

BLOG CANDY #4 - Damask Monogrammer

For today’s Blog Candy I have a JustRite Damask DIY Monogram Stamper Kit. The folks at JustRite were very generous in offering this Classic Wooden Stamper Kit to helpus celebrate this week! Thank You, JustRite — you are ALWAYS Just Rite!!!

diy-damask-378-notime.jpg

And I will say, of the three original Classic Wooden Stampers, this one has always been my personal favorite. I just like the 3 larger outer rings with the single initial in the center. It’s quick and easy to use and I just think it is so attractive. And today I used this Monogram Stamper to make a baby card. Remember the days when we all purchased baby gifts for the mother-to-be in green and yellow, not knowing the baby’s gender? Well, those days seem to be long gone, and I havea stash of pink andblue cards for baby showers. But today I just thought it would be good to have one gender-neutral card in my stash, so that’s what I did! And the B is for Baby, not Boy! Here it is:

b-baby-damask-candy-brighter-480-wm-notime.jpg

Using a monogram as the focal image, makes for a quick and easy card, and I like that!!! I cut, embossed and framed my monogram with my Petite Circle Nestabilities by Spellbinders. My white embossed panel was also quick and easy to do. I first punched the border scallop and then, using my Mini Scor-It, I scored 3 lines, each 3/8″ apart, just above the scallop. I then inserted the panel into the Swiss Dots embossing folder, but only up to the scored lines. Once I ran it through the Cuttlebug I then trimmed it down so it fit perfectly on my yellow mat, and then I rounded the corners. Tie the ribbon on, adhere my monogram with dimensionals and I’m done!

I received a surprise package in the mail yesterday from a friend and it contained a nice sampling of Papertrey cardstock, DP and ribbon — oh, how wonderful!!! Today’s cardwas made with the Papertrey cardstock and ribbon. Loved the weight of the cardstock — SO nice to work with. I am fussy about paper and do LOVE a heavy paper, so I was very pleased!!! I can definitely see some more of these yummy colors in my future!!!

LuminArte Shimmer!!!

My apologies 10 Minute Tuesday just did not happen this week. First I was a day behind schedule, then I lost internet service on Tuesday for 13 hours — so Im just moving on and what fun Ive had!!! I had a chance to just play and try something I havent used before and what fun!!! I created THE most gorgeous shimmer paper EVER!!!! And it was soooooo easy!!! Here’s thecard I made:

painted-baby-white-480-wm-notime.jpg

I used Rock-a-Bye Babywhich was released last week by Flourishesand Two ScoopsDP by BasicGrey.I just LOVE this vintage baby set — just darling!!! And can you see all the shimmer on my main image oval panel? Here’s a close up so you can really see it sparkle and shimmer:

painted-baby-sparkle-480-notime.jpg

It almost looks as though it had been embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, but it wasn’t - what I did was much, much easier!!! I first stamped my image with Versa Fine Onyx Black (heat set) onto white cardstock and then colored with Copics. Here’s the colors (much easier to photo the markers than to write down all those numbers — LOL!):

painted-baby-copics-480.jpg

Then to make my *Shimmer* I used products by LuminArte — the Pure Mica Metallic in Luster Pearl and the Simple Solution #2. This is what they look like:

painted-baby-medium-480.jpg

UsingtheMiniatureSpoon, take just a tad bit of the Mica from the jar and mix it with just a drop or two or three of the Medium from the bottle. Stir it up with a paint brush and literally paint it on your card — I just painted it onto my oval. It is wet, just like when you paint, and it took maybe 15 - 20 minutes for my oval to dry.And I might add, this is very forgiving. I had my first coat a bit too thick, so I just made a second batch much thinner, and painted over my first coat and thinned out the application — worked perfectly!!!When it was wet it looked a bit streaky, and I wondered, but it dried to a beautiful, even sparkle and sheen!!! This is the ULTIMATE SHIMMER PAPER!!!! I am a happy camper!!! So fun!!!! I used the Luster Pearl here as I wanted a moonglow effect, but I can envision how fun using all the other colors available will be!!!

One thing I wish is that you could touch the oval I painted with the Mica and Solution. It is totally smooth, nothing flakes off, it feels like a coated/protected surface. This is a dream come true, especially if that glittery *fall-off* ever bothered you!!! LOL!!! I can’t wait to try this out in more colors and more applications!!!

Now, just so you realize, this is the same jar of Pure Mica Metallic that I used when I did the Cuttlebug embossed background with the high sheen on this magnolia card. You can read that post to see how I used it there.

This card is 5.5″ square, the yellowish DP sheet is Cuttlebug embossed with the Baby folder, the ovals are cutand embossed withthe Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders, the scalloped oval is paper pierced to give a lacey effect, the stick on pearls were in my stash and I just love using the 1″ Satin Ribbonby May Arts on baby cards — it is so soft and supple, it feels just like the satin binding on a baby’s blanket, and I think it just gives that satiny/babyish look to a card!!! Mounting tape is used to pop the main image/pink ovals up above the scallop and over the ribbon.

  • Stamps: Rock-a-Bye Baby by Flourishes
  • Paper: White and Two Scoops DP by Basic Grey
  • Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black and Copics to Color
  • Accessories: Satin Ribbon, Pure Metallic Mica and Simple Solution #2 by LuminArte, Cuttlebug, Baby Embossing Folder, Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders, 1/2 Pearls, Mounting Tape, Paintbrush.

I think that’ll do it for this card!!! Thanks so much for stopping in, and I’m trying real hard to get back on track!!! Hope you are all having a great week!!!

Rock-a-Bye-Baby

Flourishes had2 new sets released yesterday — Lilac (oh my, HOW gorgeous) and Rock-a-Bye Baby (the sweetest vintage baby set EVER). On yesterday’s post I made a magnolia branch, using the magnolia blossoms, from the Lilac Set. You may see it here. Today I’m going to show you a baby girl card I made using Rock-a-Bye Baby. Here it is:

welcome-sweet-one-520-wm-notime.jpg

This card is done in the tent topper style, but in a non-traditional size. The card base is 3 7/8″ x 5 1/2″. The scalloped oval extends another 2″ above the card, making it 7 1/2″ tall. This will fit in a standard business sized envelope. Sometimes it’s just fun to do something in a non-traditional size or shape!!!

My main image (isn’t it darling!) is colored with my Twinkling H20’s by LuminArte, available at Flourishes. To keep things simple, all the colors I used came from the same package, which is #1259. They are listed in the supplies below. Twinkling H20’s are sparkly, shimmery watercolors and I’m finding them extremely easy to work with. For this card I used my waterbrush and merely dipped my dampened pen into the H20 pot (it is in solid cake form). It is very easy to control the intensity of the color with the amount of water you use. I wish I could havecaptured all of the sparkle and glimmer in the photo, but, so sorry, I couldn’t, so you’ll just have to take my word for it!!! I am truly loving working with my H20’s!!!

Once colored, the image was cut and embossed with an ovalNestabilities die by Spellbinders, matted in one size larger, and then matted again with the scallop oval. I love the multi-layers you can so easily make with the Nestabilities. Again, if someone doesn’t know what Nestabilites are, you canclick hereto see a prior post explaining them.

My card base is Cuttlebug embossed with the Swiss Dots folder — so perfect for a baby card!!! The 1″ Wide Satin Ribbon is also just perfect for a baby card — it reminds me of the binding on a soft and cuddly baby blanket!!! The ribbon wraps completely around the card front. The sentiment is also from Rock-a-Bye-Baby and it is adhered tight to the card on top and popped up on dimensionals on the bottom. It was cut and embossed with the circle Nestabilities.

  • Stamps: Rock-a-Bye Baby by Flourishes.
  • Paper: White. Prism: Razzleberry Light, Frosted Pink, Frosted Teal.
  • Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black.
  • Accessories: Waterbrush, Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots Folder, Nestabilities, Satin Ribbon, Glue Dots, Dimensionals, and H20’s in: Lemondrop, Apple Blossom, Guatemalen Green, Pewter, Honey Amber, all from set #1259.

That’s it — this was a relatively simple card!!! Hope you enjoy it!!! Thursday night’s post will be our weekly Stamp Simply Challenge, and again, it’s an easy one that anyone can play!!! Thanks so much for stopping in again — truly appreciate it!!!
