The challenge this week is to get a head start on your Christmas cards.  Everyone has Christmas in July, so thought we would, too!!!  Make any type of Christmas card you like — that’s it.  It can be traditional or non-traditional.  Personally, my preference is always non-traditional.  Can’t wait to see what you do and, as always, try to keep it simple.   Most importantly — have fun!!!

Here are some samples (please be patient as we are uploading and linking tonight):

Here’s my non-traditional Christmas card, which also qualifies for Julie’s DTGD08 Challenge to Embrace White Space and my DTGD08 to Stamp Simply.  I love simple blue and white for Christmas — so fresh and pure — like the new-fallen snow we ususally have by then.

The flourished tree from Flourished Christmas is stamped on white, cut and embossed with the my Rectangle Nestabilities.  A single Pearl is added at the tree base.  It is mounted onto the plain white card with foam mounting squares.  The sentiment, cut and embossed with my Petitie Circle Nestabilities, is mounted with a dimensional.  Steele Blue Sheer Ribbon is tied on the bottom for the finish.  Quick, simple, white — and I love it!!!

Christmas in July - Sale!!!

Yes, it is Christmas in July at Flourishes.  Starting today, July 23, through the end of the month, July 31, all Christmas sets will be at 15% off.  The price has been reduced on the item in the store to make it easy on everyone — no codes, no nothing — just click on the item and it will key in at 15% off.  What a great time to stock up on some Christmas sets.

I’ve been quite sick since returning home from CHA, so I needed a really simple card for tonight.  Also, I’ve always really preferred Christmas cards in a non-traditional color scheme, so that’s what I went with.  Here it is:

peace-provence-480-wm-notime.jpg

This card was quick to make in that it contains merely one stamped image from Peace.  I LOVE this set for quick cards — you can’t beat it!  It isn’t showing well on the photo, but the image was stamped in Versa Mark and embossed with a mixture of retired SU brown embossing powder and SU Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  It is so beautiful and sparkly IRL, just wish you could see it as I do.

I used paper from the Provence pack by Memory Box.  This is definitely not a Christmas pack of paper, but I just loved this sheet and thought with the tree and flowers it would work with the dove.  I like it!!!  Gussied up a bit with a ticket corner punch, a Pearl and a bit of Chocolate Sheer Ribbon, all on an Almost Amethyst base, which brings out the color of the flowers.  This card is 5.5″ square.

I challenge you to try some non-traditional Christmas cards — they’re FUN to do!!!

  • Stamps:  Peace by Flourishes
  • Paper:  Chocolate Chip, Almost Amethyst, Very Vanilla, Provence by Memory Box
  • Ink:  Versa Mark
  • Accessories:  Sheer Chocolate Ribbon, Embossing powders (Chocolate and Iridescent Ice mixed), Ticket Corner Punch, Pearl, Mounting Tape Squares

Please take a minute and check out all these wonderful Christmas creations done by our fabulous Design Team:  Leslie Miller, Julie Koerber, Faith Hofrichter, Susan Roberts, Linda Duke, and Sharon Doolittle has a beautiful card as well!

Thanks so much for looking — remember 15% off all Christmas sets thru July.

Also, I have a live Blog Candy post going — just scroll down a bit.

10 Minute Tuesday

It’s time for 10 Minute Tuesday again — 0h, where do the weeks go!!!  I did a Christmas card again today as it is getting near (kind of - LOL!) the 25th, which is the day that reminds me of the Christmas Card Challenge in the Flourishes Forum at SCS.  It is a continuously running challenge to make Christmas cards with Flourishes images, and we use the time around the 25th merely as a reminder.  Please feel free to check it out and play along.

10-black-fl-xm-480-wm-notime.jpg

This card is 5.25″ square.  The base is black, as is the Black Velvet Ribbon.

The Very Vanilla panel is 3.75 x 4.75 and is Cuttlebug embossed with the birds and swirls folder.

The tree from Flourished Christmas is gold embossed on a Very Vanilla panel that is 3 1/8 x 3.5.  The corners are ticket corner punched, mounted on a Cranberry Crisp panel, brads added.   It is mounted with mounting tape.

A very quick and easy card, and I love the interest the Cuttlebug embossed panel adds!!!

Thanks so much for looking!!!  Hope you are all having a great week!!!

Stamp Simply #37 - Black and White + 1

Keyword ssnotime37 - There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload your project at Splitcoast and/or your Blog, anytime at all!  You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!) can play as many times as you like!!!  The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!!  Please link back here.

The challenge this week is a Color Challenge — Black and White + 1 More Color.  And the addition to this is you may use just that one color you select, OR you may use many varying shades of that one color.  So, if you choose blue — you could use many shades of blue.  But if you want to just use one shade, then that is fine too.  So, essentially, the cards in this challenge can be taking on 2 looks — one would be black and white with an accent color, and if you use many shades of one color with the black and white as an accent, then you’ll get more of a monochromatic look.  Either way, it’s fine — just make sure you use black, white and one other color family.  And, as always, try to keep it simple!!

Here are some samples: (please bear with me for the next couple hours as I link samples as they come in)

And here is my sample:

37-peace-480-wm-notime.jpg

  • Stamps:  Peace by  Flourishes
  • Paper:  White, Black Textured, Bashful Blue
  • Ink:  Versa Fine Onyx Black and Versa Mark
  • Accessories:  Black Embossing Powder, Black Velvet, Black Brads

Now, THIS should have been my 10 Minute Tuesdsay Card — LOL!!!  This really is a quick card to reproduce, which is what I like to keep in mind when I do a Christmas card.  This  5.5″ square card uses Peace by Flourishes , which is a super set for quick cards.  I stamped and black embossed the main image, and merely stamped the sentiment.  The black paper is textured, which doesn’t show up well in the photo, but it adds alot IRL.  I added the 4 black brads and wrapped the black velvet ribbon completely around the card front.

Hint on tying this knot:  This being velvet, it gets a bit bulky to tie and still lay neatly.  I am usually rather fussy about getting the bows or knots neat and having the proper side of the ribbon exposed; HOWEVER, in this case, to get everything to lay properly, the WRONG side of the velvet is exposed on the center knot portion.  When tying your knot, if you twist the ribbons so the wrong side will be on the knot portion, then the RIGHT sides will be exposed on your tail portions.

And again, for tying knots with these narrow ribbons, I want to link you to a great bow tying tutorial done by Val Stangle (11Valerie11).  What she is doing in this video, is exactly what I say to myself in my head each time I tie a knot like this — left over right, 6 and 12 0′clock, right over left.  Works like a charm.  Thank you, Val, for making it so simple and easy to remember!!!

Remember when you upload to use the keyword above, followed by a comma.  Please come back here to post (as a comment) that you’ve played, and provide a link so we can check out your card right away. You can find all cards uploaded for this challenge by clicking Gallery Submissions Here.

Some wanting to play said they have never uploaded before.  If that’s you and you need help uploading,  just go to my Challenge No. 1 here.

That’s it for today’s challenge — hope you all find time to play sometime!!!  And, oh yes, we have a Chrsitmas Card Challenge running in the Flourishes Forum at SCS and this is my 2nd Christmas card this month, so I’m getting there — LOL!!! Please, feel free to join our Christmas Card Challenge as well!!!

Thanks so much for stopping in again and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!!!

10 Minute Tuesday Returns

Hi everyone — I made it for 10 Minute Tuesday today — sorry about the lapse last week!!!  And I am multi-tasking today as my card not only works for 10 Minute Tuesday, but also for the Christmas Card Challenge I am running in the Flourishes forum.  Check it out — all are welcome to play!!!  Here’s my card:

10-min-fl-xmas-500-wm-notime.jpg

I used what I consider one of the easiest Christmas sets ever to use — Flourished Christmas.   It features this gorgeous, flourishy tree as well as a reindeer with antlers everyone loves!!!  He is my kind of deer!!!  I love this tree as it is so simple to use — stamp it, and be done if you like.  It also looks great embossed, and on today’s card I merely stamped it in brown ink and accented it just a bit with the Quickie Glue Pen and SU Dazzling Diamonds.  I have also decorated it in the past with Dew Drops!

My Merry Christmas sentiment is in the same set, as is my inside verse, which reads:  May your Christmas flourish with peace and good will.  My Merry Christmas is stamped on Very Vanilla and then cut and embossed using one of the new Nestabilities tag dies by Spellbinders.  This one is a slider for ribbons — how fun!!!!  My velvet ribbon is run through it and attached back to itself with brads — quick and easy and I love the rich and elegant look it lends!!!

My tree and sentiment panels are outlined with a Sharpie Metallic Gold pen. The tree is then framed with a scrap I found of gold mirrored cardstock.  The background paper is from Scarlet’s Letter by Basic Grey.  LOVE this pack.  Although it is not one of the newest packs out by BG, it is new to me and I just love the rich colors it has.  I LOVE browns and just haven’t used them as much lately as I used to, so I am really enjoying the brown tones and other dark neutrals in this paper pack.  The sheer ribbon is run through 2 holes punched with my eyelet setter and hammer and as I’ve said before, I really like the delicate feel of this sheer ribbon — superior to any I’ve used before — it is by May Arts.

  • Stamps:  Flourished Christmas by Flourishes
  • Paper:  SU Very Vanilla, unknown Mirrored Gold, Scarlet’s Letter by Basic Grey
  • Ink:  SU Basic Brown
  • Accessories:  Velvet and Sheer Ribbon, Gold Brads, Nestability Tags by Spellbinders, Gold Metallic Sharpie, Quickie Glue Pen, SU Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals, Eyelet Setter, Hammer, Piercer, Mat Pack

Editing to Add:  Let me address the issue of 10 Minutes — LOL!!! Do I design and make these cards in only 10 Minutes — NO!!! I am slow at design; however, once the design is there to follow, do I feel this is a really quick card to reproduce — Yes, absolutely!!!  The paper cuts are all easy, the stamping is minimal.  And, OK, perhaps on this card using the Nestability die and then putting the brads in the velvet (really easy and quick), may push this a bit beyond the 10 minutes to reproduce, but I love the look and feel it’s worth the extra couple minutes.  But if 10 minutes is important, then change the sentiment slider with ribbon/brads to a simple oval punched sentiment — it would still look great and save a couple minutes!!!

Thank you so much for stopping in — I truly appreciate it.  Tomorrow I plan to start a new regular (I hope) feature for Wednesday’s called — May I Suggest….  Hope you can stop by to check it out!!!  Have a wonderful week everyone!!!

10 Minute Tuesday

Hi everyone!!! Today is our first edition of 10 Minute Tuesday.  I’ve been doing a lot of super easy cards in trying to plan for quick Make-N-Takes, and you all seem to be enjoying quick cards, so I thought I’d give 10 Minute Tuesday a try as a regular feature.  Here’s my first 10 Minute Tuesday card, which just so happens to be a Christmas card — it’s never too early to start, now is it?  LOL!!!

10-minute-tree-500-wm-notime.jpg

This card is 5.5″ high and 5″ wide, and I’ll use my favorite 6 x 6 envelopes for it.  If the main image had been narrower, this easily could have been a standard sized card.  The red panel (4.5 x 3) is stamped tone on tone with red ink in Damask Reverse.  It just gives it such a subtle, but rich texture — love it!!!  Then I knotted a length of Black Velvet Ribbon by Mary Arts (available at Flourishes) in the center and wrapped the edges around the red panel, securing them tightly on the back before adhering the panel to the card.  The main image panel (4 x 3) is my favorite Christmas tree from Flourished Christmas by Flourishes.  The tree is simply stamped in black, highlighted with a Quickie Glue Pen (available at Flourishes) and Dazzling Diamonds (a fine glitter), the sentiment from the same set is stamped in red, then the panel is narrowly matted in black before adhering over the red panel, as shown in photo.

The inside sentiment is another stamp from Flourished Christmas, and it reads:  “May your Christmas flourish with peace and good will.”

This would definitely be a quick and easy card to use for Christmas when you might be mass producing.  And even though it is simple, I do love it’s richness and elegance!!!

  • Stamps:   Flourished Christmas and Damask Reverse by Flourishes
  • Paper:  Real Red, Black, White
  • Ink:  Versa Fine Onyx Black, Real Red
  • Accessories:  Black Velvet Ribbon, Quickie Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds

Thanks again so much for stopping in.  Hope you enjoyed 10 Minute Tuesday! See you soon!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!!

I had plans to make a Christmas card for all of you, that I was going to post here this evening, but, as with so many of my plans, it just didn’t get done.  I do, however, want to share with you this card I received from a dear online frend, Jerri Jimenez, or Jerri Kay over at SCS.  Her watercoloring always just makes me pause in my tracks and stare in awe — and this card is a wonderful example of her beautiful work.  I know you’ll enjoy it as much as I have!

jerris-520-notime.jpg

Thank you so much, Jerri!!!  This is a card I will treasure always and I’m so pleased to be able to share it in this way with all my other online friends.  And at this time of year I feel it is appropriate to tell you all just how much you mean to me — I have so many friends I have never met, and likely will never meet, but you are all, nonetheless, true and wonderful friends, and I am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to meet you all both here on my Blog and at SCS.  Oh, what a strange and wonderful world we live in!!!  Thank you, thank you, Friends, for the continual encouragement and support you are to me — you all mean more to me than you will ever know — I feel so truly  honored to have had this chance to get to know each and every one of you!

I now look forward to our Candlelight Christmas Eve Service this evening — always such a Blessed and special time!  My prayer for you all is that each of us remember the true reason for the season, which is the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Today in the City of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.”  Luke 2:10-11

At Christmas time I also always love to read what I call the “Yes, Virginia” story.  I am sure many of you know exactly what I mean.  It is such a beautiful story, it brings tears to my eyes every time I read it.  Here I’ll do a copy and paste from the net for you, along with a few other interesting tidbits about the story.  I hope you enjoy it!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!!!

Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus

By Francis P. Church, first published in The New York Sun in 1897. [See The People’s Almanac, pp. 1358–9.]

We take pleasure in answering thus prominently the communication below, expressing at the same time our great gratification that its faithful author is numbered among the friends of The Sun:

Dear Editor—

I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says, “If you see it in The Sun, it’s so.” Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus?

Virginia O’Hanlon

Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men’s or children’s, are little. In this great universe of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The external light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies. You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if you did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that’s no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You tear apart the baby’s rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived could tear apart. Only faith, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank God! he lives and lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay 10 times 10,000 years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

About the Exchange

Francis P. Church’s editorial, “Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus” was an immediate sensation, and went on to became one of the most famous editorials ever written. It first appeared in the The New York Sun in 1897, almost a hundred years ago, and was reprinted annually until 1949 when the paper went out of business.

Thirty-six years after her letter was printed, Virginia O’Hanlon recalled the events that prompted her letter:

“Quite naturally I believed in Santa Claus, for he had never disappointed me. But when less fortunate little boys and girls said there wasn’t any Santa Claus, I was filled with doubts. I asked my father, and he was a little evasive on the subject.

“It was a habit in our family that whenever any doubts came up as to how to pronounce a word or some question of historical fact was in doubt, we wrote to the Question and Answer column in The Sun. Father would always say, ‘If you see it in the The Sun, it’s so,’ and that settled the matter.

“ ‘Well, I’m just going to write The Sun and find out the real truth,’ I said to father.

“He said, ‘Go ahead, Virginia. I’m sure The Sun will give you the right answer, as it always does.’ ”

And so Virginia sat down and wrote her parents’ favorite newspaper.

Her letter found its way into the hands of a veteran editor, Francis P. Church. Son of a Baptist minister, Church had covered the Civil War for The New York Times and had worked on the The New York Sun for 20 years, more recently as an anonymous editorial writer. Church, a sardonic man, had for his personal motto, “Endeavour to clear your mind of cant.” When controversal subjects had to be tackled on the editorial page, especially those dealing with theology, the assignments were usually given to Church.

Now, he had in his hands a little girl’s letter on a most controversial matter, and he was burdened with the responsibility of answering it.

“Is there a Santa Claus?” the childish scrawl in the letter asked. At once, Church knew that there was no avoiding the question. He must answer, and he must answer truthfully. And so he turned to his desk, and he began his reply which was to become one of the most memorable editorials in newspaper history.

Church married shortly after the editorial appeared. He died in April, 1906, leaving no children.

Virginia O’Hanlon went on to graduate from Hunter College with a Bachelor of Arts degree at age 21. The following year she received her Master’s from Columbia, and in 1912 she began teaching in the New York City school system, later becoming a principal. After 47 years, she retired as an educator. Throughout her life she received a steady stream of mail about her Santa Claus letter, and to each reply she attached an attractive printed copy of the Church editorial. Virginia O’Hanlon Douglas died on May 13, 1971, at the age of 81, in a nursing home in Valatie, N.Y.

Penguin Pull Toy

Do you remember last month when Jami issued the Elzybell challenge to all Dirty Girls, past and present?  Well, we all had so much fun, it was decided to make it a monthly challenge.  Today, Dec. 20, is our day to upload for this month’s challenge, which was to make a card using a penguin — any penguin.  The other stipulations were that we could use NO blue on the card anywhere, but we had to have an *icy* feature on the card.  So, here’s my card:

dirty-penguin-540-wm-notime.jpg

My penguin stamp is huge!!!  The watercolor panel he is stamped onto is 3 3/4″ x 5  1/2″.  The finished card measures 8 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.   Since he is a pull toy, I decided to make a little wagon as the card base.  That was fun and so, so simple.  The card base is 4 1/2″ x 11″, scored in half (side fold).  I then adhered a panel of DP to the front.  Then I made 4 wheels — fun!!!  Here’s the measurements:

  • Red:  2″ circle
  • Green:  1″ circle
  • Black Center : Large brad, maker unknown
  • Black Ring:  Punch a 1 1/4″ inch circle.  Discard the circle and use the negative image.  Place that into a 1 1/2″ punch, and punch, which leaves you with this thin ring.

The main image is stamped and watercolored, an eyelet inserted for the *rope*, then I added a piece of hardware on top to hold the rope up.   I added jingle bells on the ends since he has a jingle bell on his neck.  I added a bit of glitter to the top of his head, back and feet to get in the required *ice*.

  • Stamps:  Penguin Pull Toy by Stamps Happen, Inc., Many Merry Messages by SU
  • Paper:  Basic Black, Real Red, Garden Green, Watercolor Paper, Fruitcake DP by Basic Grey
  • Ink:  VersaFine Onyx Black.  Reinkers in Basic Black, Real Red, Garden Green, So Saffron, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Going Grey.  Gold Glitter Pen (on bell).
  • Accessories:  Aquapainter, Ribbon, Brads, Eyelet, Jingle Bells, Antique Brass Hodgepodge Hardware, Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Mini Glue Dots, Cropadile, Crafter’s Tool Kit,  Round Punches in:  1″, 1 1/4″, 1 1/2″, 2″.

To see all the uploads for this challenge, click here.  They will be coming in all day long, so check back often!!!

Thanks much for checking in!  Tomorrow (Friday) is our Stamp Simply challenge again — and this one is super easy, being as how we are all so busy right now — hope to see you tomorrow!!!

Stamp Simply Challenge #12 - Going Round

12-all-520-wm-notime.jpg

Challenge #12 - Keyword ssnotime12 - There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload your project at Splitcoast and/or your Blog, anytime at all!  You can play as many times as you like!!!  The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!!  Please link back here.

Today’s challenge is to make something round — a card, tag, tree ornament — anything round.   NOT a round piece adhered to a card, but the actual completed project must be round!!!   Oval would be OK too,  just not square or rectangle.  No other restrictions — use/do anything, as long as the end result is round (or oval).  You can scroll down after my samples to see how to cut a round card if you’ve never done it.

Today’s challenge was inspired by Cindy Motherway, or Mothermark as we all know her at SCS.   She participated in my Stamp Simply challenge last week and produced a really great round card!!!  I had never done a round card and have long wanted to, so I knew this would be a perfect challenge for this week, forcing me to finally make that 1st round card!!!  You can check out Cindy’s round card here.  Isn’t it fun!!!   Thank you, Cindy, for this great idea and gorgeous sample!!!  And if you have any further suggestions on making round cards, we’d be happy to have you share — after all, you ALWAYS have a story — LOL!!!

Remember when you upload to use the keyword above, followed by a comma.  Please come back here to post (as a comment) that you’ve played, and provide a link so I can check out your card right away. You can find all cards uploaded for this challenge by clicking Gallery Submissions Here.

Some wanting to play said they have never uploaded before.  If that’s you and you need help uploading,  just go to my Challenge No. 1 here.

12-blue-520-wm-notime.jpg

This is my favorite!  It started out as a card, but ended as a single layer, which could serve as a tag or an ornament.  Wouldn’t alot of these look pretty hanging from fishing line in a window, decorated on both sides!!!  Can you see the metallic round tab punched ornament topper?  Well, attaching that at the top affected the way the card opens — it would no longer open properly, unless I scored across the ornament on top, making it a hinged top — and I didn’t want to do that — it would ruin the *look* of the ornament.  So, my other option then was to cut off the back, changing it from a card to a single layer tag or ornament, and that’s OK.  I prefer a single layer to a poorly functioning card!!!

To make the blue snowflake ornament, I  cut the circle with my Coluzzle (instructions below), stamped the greeting from Many Merry Messages in Black Stazon, stamped the snowflakes from Snow Burst in Bashful Blue, and then rather heavily sponged the edges, working inwards, but not totally covering the greeting.  I then covered the entire ornament with Versa Mark and embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder — so pretty and sparkly!!!

12-red-420-wm-notime.jpg

This is similar in design, just smaller.  It was made with the largest of the Marvy circle punches, 3″ I think.  I made this one as a card where I did score the front so it would open properly with the round  tab punch on top.  The following photo shows a side view so you can see how it now opens more easily with the score line, done on my new Scor-Pal, I might add!!!

12-side-480-wm-notime.jpg

Below is a regular round card with no topper on it, again punched with the 3″ Marvy punch.  A hint on this one — if you adhere your DP to your cardstock before punching, it comes out almost done!!!  Just make sure your punch will punch through all 3 layers at one time!!!  Sentiment is from It’s Your Birthday.  DP is Outlaw.

12-bd-420-wm-notime.jpg

Now, about getting the circles — it’s so easy and you can use any number of tools to get the job done — Coluzzle works great, round punches, or even one of my favorite tools — a bowl or large coffee mug inverted!!!

12-punch-420-wm-notime.jpg

Before cutting the paper, score it in half and fold.  Put the paper in the punch, or under the Coluzzle, but DO NOT put it all the way like you normally would do.  Leave a bit of the top of the circle (folded edge) so it doesn’t get cut, as shown in the photo.  This makes the top of the card where the back and front join.  Now, wasn’t that simple!!!

OK, now let’s see what kind of round beauties you all can come up with!!!  I think these are so much fun and so amazingly simple and quick!!!  Hope you can find time to give them a try!!!

Glitter Rejoice

I made this card for Julia’s Ways to Use It Challenge (WT143) today at SCS.  The challenge was to use tape in a way other than the standard use of tape.  This card also follows the sketch from Card Positioning Systems (CPS42).  Flourishes is sponsoring the sketch this week at CPS.

This is a card made to fit the small open end envelopes by SU.  It measures  6 5/8 x 3 3/8.  I love doing this elongated shape every once in a while!  The tape I used for the challenge was double sided carpet tape.  I used it to make the glitter window.  Merely stamp your image (Rejoice, in this case) on a small rectangle of paper, cover the image with the double sided tape, peel off the sticky on top, and cover it with Dazzling Diamonds — instant razzle and dazzle!!!  I then cut the opening in my card with a rectangle Nestability die by Spellbinders and adhered my glittered Rejoice behind it.  I made the black frame for my window by using the same die, cutting a piece of black paper just a tad larger than the die, then running it through the Cuttlebug — instant frame!    There may be a better way to do this, but I just wanted a narrow frame and this worked for me.  My Nestabilites are still new to me, and I’m just having fun playing with them!!!  So many cool things you can do with them!!!

This was a great sketch from CPS, my stamps were all from Flourishes, and the Nestabilities are by Spellbinders.    1/2 pearls were in the SU Pretties Kit and my May Arts black velvet ribbon was also from Flourishes.

  • Stamps:  Flourished Elements and Flourished Christmas, both by Flourishes

That’s if for today.  Check back tomorrow for my Stamp Simply Challenge.  It’ll be a fun one.  I’m anxious to make the sample.  It is something I have never done before — YIKES!!!  But it’ll be easy and fun — guaranteed!!!  Thanks much for stopping in!!!  (Wish I could offer you a cup of coffee when you’re here!)
