For the Love of Scissors!

Published by notimetostamp under Fiskars

I have always had somewhat of a passion for my scissors, going back to my childhood when I was taught to sew by my Mom. And I was taught to take good care of them. There is nothing worse than trying to cut a beautiful piece of fabric with dull scissors that don’t give a crisp cut, or trying to cut a paper-craft projectwith scissors all gunked up with adhesives. And I always had my favorite scissors for each particular job, and I still do. Here’s a pic of my all time favorite scissors EVER.

Yes, they’re rather grungy and dirty, but not too bad when you consider they are old –very old. I purchased these as soon asI first saw thisstyle of scissor. I don’t know for sure, but I’m guessing that was a good 25 -30 years ago. One look at the mechanics of these scissors and it just made sense to me — the handles and spring action — I had to try them. Well, one try and I was purchasinganother pair for my Mom, and hers are still her main sewing scissor to this day as well. This is a fabulous scissor design for ease of use. Perhaps designed for arthritic, stiff hands, I considered them a dream scissor in my then younger hands, and I think I appreciate them even more today. And they are still going strong — no different today than the day I took them out of the package! And I must admit, in the last year I have also been cutting paper with these scissors. They served as my ribbon scissors initially, then I got careless and started using them on paper. MUCH to my amazement, they are STILL as sharp as ever!!! Gotta love ‘em even more!!!

Because of my love for scissors, I decided I’d like to carry some in the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store in case any of you are in need of a new pair. My scissor choice is Fiskars. They come with so many good options — like the spring action in my old pair shown above, soft grip handles that are super comfy, micro-tip points for precise detail cutting, and non-stick blades for easy cleaning. Plus they are all super light weight.I have made a selection of my favorite scissors by Fiskars and have them listed on Page 2 Tools of the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store, complete with details as to each pair — but for a quick view, here’sjust aglance:

Some of them are specifically for paper-crafting, others cross the line and are for sewing. Ribbon scissors — can’t be without a pair — ask my friends — LOL!!! My sewing scissors are used ONLY for ribbon or fabric cutting on my stamp table. Then they are set aside and out come my paper scissors for all else. Taking good care of your scissors means they will last a lifetime, or at least 30 years like mine — LOL!!!

Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts on scissors. Take a look if you are interested!

No card to share today. Our oldest son graduated from college today, so it’s been busy around here. Such milestones — just tugs at a Mom’s heart. Considering what our weather has been, we had a coolish, but lovely, windy day — MUCH to be thankful for!!! Hope you are all enjoying your weekend as I try to catch up around the house and in my stamp room! See you all real soon!
