Sublime Silk Sympathy

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you enjoyed a Blessed Day!!! Tonight I have a card to share that I consider so *me*, so what I love — black ink only, soothing and minimal colors (but yet striking colors), beautiful patterns and gorgeous ribbon — Stamped Simply! And following a sketch made it simpler yet. I followed this week’s Weekend Sketch Challenge hosted this week by Laurie Schmidlin — LOVELY sketch!!! Here it is:

sublime-silk-sympathy-480-wm-notime.jpg

I both rotated and flipped the sketch — if that makes sense — essentially it is backwards in every direction, but it’s there! You can seethe sketchhere. This card went together very quickly. As I said above, all my decisions were made before I even started — I had the sketch, I chose the paper, which dictated the ribbon, and I knew I wanted to do black ink only and that it needed to fit into the round focal image — so all I had to do was find an image to work — easy as that!!! When I go to make a card, typically the first thing I select is my paper. Once having the paper I am in the mood to use in hand, it usually sets the tone for whatever is to be and then things just move along smoothly. This card is large, at 5.25″ wide x 7.75″ high. I’m really enjoying this larger size of late.

sublime-silk-sympathy-focal-detail-400-wm-notime.jpg

Isn’t this Silk Ribbon perfect with the Sublime paper by Kaiser? I am totally ELATED with the match — TOTALLY!!! The image is an Inkadinkado stamp from the Nostalgia set, andmy birdhas a Snow White Kaiser Pearl eye. Birds always need eyes!!!

sublime-silk-sympathy-sent-detail-360-notime.jpg

The beautiful and delicate With Sympathy is from a Papertrey Ink set, cut with a Ribbon Slide die by Spellbinders. I have used just a bit of my 1/4″ Silk Ribbon run through the openings on the end — just a little touch, but it really sets off the sentiment!

Stamps: Nostalgia by Inkadinkado; Out on a Limb Sentiments by Papertrey Ink.

Paper: PTI White, SU Black, Kaiser Sublime DP.

Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black, ColorBox Chalk Lime Pastel (to DTP the edges)

Black Silk Wedding

I just received some gorgeous 100% Silk May Arts ribbon in 10 colors and 2 widths to add to My Ribbon Saleup above my blog banner — it’s soooo pretty!!! I also got 10 new colors of 1″ Sheer to sell by the roll. Check it out if you want to see some pretty ribbon!!!

Now on to my card. Today was a good mail day, if you know what I mean! I got many new things today and I played with severalon this simple wedding card. First of all, I HAD to try out my new Silk Ribbon, so I decided to make a wedding card and use black 1.5″ wide Silk — totally gorgeous stuff!!! Here’s my card:

black-silk-wedding-480-wm-notime.jpg

I just got this beautiful wedding set by Inka, my swag on top is my new die cut by Spellbinders, and of course my black Silk Ribbonis new. That simple band of silk adds SUCH elegance to this card IRL — totally gorgeous!!! This was a quick and simple card, pretty muchCAS in my opinion. I love this bride/groom image. I apologize that the glue from my glue pen is showing through the Dazzling Diamonds in this photo. It does NOT show up one bit IRL — gosh, I wish I knew how to handle these situations with my camera — but I don’t, so we live with the blue - so sorry!!! It’s a lovely image that sparkles beautifully IRL!

black-silk-wedding-inside-440-wm-notime.jpg

Since my card base was black I had to do something to lighten up the inside. I used DP from SU and one of the sentiments from the same Inka wedding set. My new Arched Lattice Punch by Martha was new as of today, too! I love it and you’ll probably get tired of seeing me use itin a few days or weeks — LOL!!! I wrapped some 1/4″ Silk Ribbon around the bottom. I just wish you could see and touch these Silk Ribbons — they feel like nothing else, believe me! A true pleasure — and you can see all the colors at My Ribbon Sale.

What a gorgeous set this is! I just had to use another image from it before putting it away. Two days ago I used the beautiful ladybug, and today I’m using this stunning dragonfly image. She is just SO pretty!!! I followed the Sketch Challengetoday over at SCS, and here’s my card:

Doesn’t every dragonfly need a bow on her tail? I thought so! She is paper pieced, just like I did my ladybug the other day. Here’s a closeup of this beautiful image:

sc219-dragonfly-detail-420-wm-notime.jpg

The Clean and Simple Challenge recently started at SCS is fast becoming one of my favorites. It’s up every Monday morning and what better way to start your stamping week than with a Clean and Simple creation. And I’ll tell you, the longer I stamp, the more I am coming to appreciate Clean and Simple!!! Today’s CAS challenge required that we use blue and green — perfect!!! Here’s myCAS creation for today:

My only embellishment isa length of 1.5″ wide gingham checked May Arts ribbon, simply knotted in the center. Oh, and can’t forget my bird’s eye –every bird always needs a black pearl eye!!!

Stamps: Birds Galore by Inkadinkado; Much Appreciated by SU

Victorian Ladybug

Well, she looks Victorian to me! She was fun and easy!!! She’s included in a beautiful Inkadinkado set called Mindscapes. And today is Sunday so, of course, I had to play the Featured Stamper Challengeat SCS. And today’s featured stamper is Judy Rozema — she has such a great gallery, it was hard to chose a card, but after much browsing I chose this card to case. And my card looks totally different than Judy’s card, but when comparing the two you will notice I kept the layout along with the scalloped border, changing the image, color, paper and embellishment placement. Here’s mine:

fs109-ladybug-480-wm-notime.jpg

Judy used circles for her main image, but I chose to use the Labels 1 Nestabilites. I particularly liked how Judy had the bottom layer under the side panel, so I repeated that as well. This was a relatively fast card to make, using Scarlet’s Letter DP by Basic Grey.

fs109-ladybug-detail-420-wm-notime.jpg

I loved making the ladybug. She is paper pieced with another sheet of red from Scarlet’s Letter and I added pearls to her back and rhinestones for her eyes. Quite the elegant lady, all decked out in red and jewels!!!

Stamps: Mindscapes by Inkadinkado

Paper: White, Scarlet’s Letter by Basic Grey

Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black

Accessories: May Arts Sheer Ribbon from My Ribbon Sale, Labels 1 Nestabilities by Spellbinders, SU Corner Rounder, Martha Stewart Lace Punch, Kaiser Pearls, AMuse Rhinestones, Glue Glider, Mounting Squares.

Shopping:

I got my Inka set from Joans Garden, and today is Monday, which means fun at Joans! She has this set listed for sale today along with a ton of other good finds! She carries many things I used to make this card Inkadinkado stamps, Versa Fine Ink, Nestabilities by Spellbinders, Basic Grey paper, Kaiser Rhinestones, Glue Glider and Mounting Squares.

May Arts Ribbon — My Ribbon Sale (Tab above my Blog Header).

Thanks much for stopping in today! Hope you had a great weekend!!! And I hope I can find a bit of time to make some more things for Sue’s Kitchen to coordinate with yesterday’s project — that’s my goal for my next post! See you soon!

3rd in Series is CAS!

Well, I said I wanted to do 3 cards in this green/black series, so here’s the 3rd. And I played the CAS challenge at SCS for this one, so clean and simple it is!!! This week’s CAS Challenge provided us a sketch to follow, and I flipped mine on its side. Here it is:

cas03-branches-480-wm-notime.jpg

Simple and fun sketch! Not much explaining needed. Here’s the first card in the series, and here’s the second. All 3 cards in this series are 5.25″ x 7″. Now I’m done!

Stamps: Delicate Branches by Inkadinkado

Paper: White, Black, Sublime DP by Kaiser

Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black

Accessories: Dotted Sheer Ribbon, Sublime Brads by Kaiser, Foam Mounting Squares, Glue Glider, Eyelet setter for holes.

Note: The INKA stamps, Kaiser Paper and Brads, my Foam Mounting Squares and Glue Glider all came from Joans Garden.

MY FAVORITE BLACK INK for getting a good solid image is Versa Fine Onyx Black. The ink is very black and the raised pad stays wet almost FOREVER. I LOVE this black ink for this type of stamping. It is available at Stampers Dream.

This was my 2nd upload today — most unusual!!! Hope to be back tomorrow!!! Thanks much for checking in!!

More Black Ink Only

I wanted to play one of my favorite SCS challenges, the Featured Stamper Challenge, but time was limited — very limited! So what do I always so when time is short? I use the same supplies from my last card, that are still always on my work surface (picking up after myself is NOT my strong point — and sometimes that’s a good thing!). So this card uses the EXACT supplies as my last card, with the addition of SU’s Tag Corner Punch added. Here’s my card:

fs107-trio-of-brids-480-wm-notime.jpg

The card I cased from SgtStamper’s Gallery is here. As you can see, I used the basic layout, altering the position of the sentiment, and somewhat mimicking her ribbon placement. I changed all images, papers, colors and the size of the card. Hers appears to be square. Mine is 5.25 x 7″. I have a lot of envelopes to fit this size card and I’m really enjoying this size. It gives me room to use some of the large images I love! And now that I have 2 cards rather matchy-matchy, I just may have to make a third — there’s just something about 3’s!!! Here’s the first if you are interested.

Stamps: Delicate Branches (image) and Southern Belle (sentiment) both by Inkadinkado

Paper: White, Black, Sublime DP by Kaiser

Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black

Accessories: Dotted Sheer Ribbon, Sublime Brads by Kaiser, Foam Mounting Squares, Pop up Glue Dots by SU, Glue Glider, Eyelet setter for holes, SU Tag Corner Punch.

Thank you so much for stopping in. I’ve been absent for a few days as I’ve been shopping and helping DS#2 decorate a living room — fun stuff!!! Hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for the week ahead!!! I hope to get daily uploads done this week — always the best of intentions!!! Thanks much — see you soon!!!

Stamp Simply #75 - Black Ink Only

Keyword ssnotime75 -There is no time limit. You can play this challenge and upload yourproject at Splitcoastand/or your Blog, anytime at all! You (and that means anyone and everyone, blogger or not!)can play as many times as you like!!! The point is to keep it simple, quick and have fun!!! Please link back here.

Today’s Challenge is to use Black Ink Only — I often make cards using BLACK INK ONLY, and I can in all honesty say it is one of my VERY FAVORITE ways to create a quick card. I hope you enjoy it, too!!! And today this means NO COLORING of any sort - no markers, no pencils, no chalks, no inks — just black ink only. Now, if you can color with black ink only, that’s A-OK!!! LOL!!! No other restrictions, anything else goes!!! Have fun with it!!!

Some great samples for the Stamp Simply Challenge today can be seen on the blogs of these designers:Heather, Dee, Tammy, Janine, AJ, Jennifer, Becky, and Julie. Please bear with us as we are all uploading and linking on Thursday night.

You can see all Gallery Submissions here.

What wonderful samples!!! Thank you girls!!! Much appreciated!!!

Heres my card for today, using Black Ink Only:

branches-trio-480-wm-notime.jpg

I find stamping with Black Ink Only to be fun, quick and easy and it most often yields a crisp and sharp, striking result, which is what I am often after. I really like how this card turned out. I used many new things I just picked up from Joan’s Garden, and as you can see, this is a very easy card to make. The image was one bundle of branches that I stamped 3 times, then tied a ribbonaround each bundle. It is simply matted on black and mounted onto a card base with some DP. My large brad coordinates with the paper pack. These brads have the large prongs on them - I think you all know what I mean. And on this card I had no layers to hide my prongs between, and I didn’t want them showing on the inside of the card, so I just cut the prongs off close to the base with a little wire cutter. Two quick snips and they were off. I had to use 3 of the big, fat SU Pop Up Glue Dots behind my brad to elevate it enough to get it above the panel, but it looks good and I got rid of the fat prong issue!! This card is 5 1/4 x 7 inches.

Stamps: Delicate Branches (image) and Southern Belle (sentiment) both by Inkadinkado

Paper: White, Black, Sublime DP by Kaiser

Ink: Versa Fine Onyx Black

Accessories: Dotted Sheer Ribbon, Sublime Brads by Kaiser, Foam Mounting Squares, Pop up Glue Dots by SU, Glue Glider, Eyelet setter for holes.

Hope you can find some time to play with Black Ink Only this weekend!!! It’s something I truly enjoy doing!!! As always, I so appreciate your visits — thank you so much!!! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead!!!

Ribbon Tabs/Stamp Simply Style

Today I’ve done 3 cards in different styles, but all using just small tidbits of ribbon to make ribbon tabs! You all know how I love wide ribbon and I usually use it quite generously on my projects. Well today, I’m only using about 2-3″ per card, and I LOVE that extra little bit of pizazz that this wide ribbon lends.

And before I show you my cards, I just want to let you know that I do have this May Arts ribbon for sale in an Introductory Sampler, giving you 1 yard each of 8 different ribbons. You can check it all out on the RIBBON FOR SALEtab at the top of this page, ABOVE MY BLOG HEADER, or click here. OK, now on to my cards:

yellow-thanks-480-wm-notime.jpg

This card is fresh and crisp with a simply colored image. What a fun accent the checked ribbon tabmakes!!! Image is Mixed Bouquet (it’s on sale today!)by Memory Box from Stampers Dream. Sentiment is retired SU Small Sayings. DP is Urban Prairie by Basic Grey from Joan’s Garden. Tag is cut and embossed with a Spellbinders Double Ended Tags die.

vintage-butterfly-480-wm-notime.jpg

This card has a definite vintage feel, and the fun little striped tab works itself into this style equally as well!!! The image is from the Nostalgia set by Inkadinkado and the DP is Basic Grey’s Ambrosia, both from Joan’s Garden. The buttons are from Wal-Mart and the focal image is cut and embossed on my Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders, edged with a gold Sharpie pen. Ink used on the image is SU Pumpkin Pie and Riding Hood Red.

hb-button-brown-480-wm-notime.jpg

And lastly I have a really quick CAS card (Clean and Simple), requiring minimal work! But how fun! The interest comes from my ribbon tab and the fun button!!! The Birthday Blessings is by Rubber Soul from Stampers Dream. Stampers Dreamalso has the Frosted Cobalt Prism cardstock as well as the Versa Fine and Memento inks I’ve used on all these projects today. The button is a large vintage coat button with a hemp bow.

Hope you enjoy these cards — they were fun to make this morning!!! If you’d like to try the May Arts ribbons, check them out here. Thanks so much for stopping in again! I love when you do!!! I hope to have another project for tomorrow!! Have a great day everyone!!!

JustRite Vertical Love

I made this card for today’s Featured Stamper Challengeat SCS– Lori Craig!!! How fun!!! Congrats Lori!!! For my card I used some new product beingintroduced at CHA next week by JustRite– their new Vertical Stamper and the Lower Case Times New Roman Font — GREAT additions to the JustRiteline. How happy I am to be able to create vertical words and have them be perfectly straight and lined up. Like the original Harmony Rectangle Stampers, the new Vertical Stampershave the grooves in which you insert the letters so there is NEVER a problem — always straight, always perfect!!! A product I am super excited about!!! I’ll show you below, but first my card:

vertical-love-fs-102-440-wm-notime.jpg

For my LOVE panel, I used the new Vertical Stamper by JustRite to easily get a perfectly straight sentiment!!! Since I was casing Lori’s card, where she had the image of the woman, I used some tiny floral images from an Inkadinkado set and then adorned them with rhinestones. I cut and embossed my LOVE panel with Long Rectangle Nestabilities by Spellbinders, first edging each layer with a gold paint pen. All DP’s used are by Crafty Secrets.

vertical-love-closeup-420-wm-notime.jpg

Here’s a closer look where you can see the detail a bit better. I love being able to use lower case font for sentiments. The *Love You* uses Times New Roman Font in 25 pt. and the new Lower Case Times New Roman Font in 25 pt. as well. The LOVE is 95 pt. Times New Roman Font, perfectly aligned with the new Vertical Stamper soon to be available!!! How fun for everyone!!! This is a super versatile stamper, allowing you to make words in a vertical orientation as I have, or you can use it to make a long narrow sentiment using smaller font. I can see this being so fun to use to make sentiments for bookmarks!!! Take a look at this new Vertical Stamper:

vertical-love-product-480-notime.jpg

See my perfectly aligned LOVE? No mistakes or crooked letters here!!! It has the same grooved base as the other stampers, just in a tall and thin vertical orientation which gives us all so many more options!!! And more options means more fun!!! And my *Love You* using both upper and lower case Times New Roman Font is on the smaller of the Harmony Rectangle Stampers. I really do love the look of the sentiments when both upper and lower case letters are combined!!!

Stamps: Times New Roman Font, Lower Case Times New Roman Font, used with the Harmony Rectangle Stamper and the Vertical Stamper, all by JustRite. Southern Belle by Inkadinkado.
Paper:PTI Vintage Cream; SU Black; Crafty Secrets Classic Heartwarming Vintage Collection DP Pad.
Ink:Versa Fine Onyx Black. Marvy Uchida Gold Calligraphy Pen.
Accessories:Long Rectangle Nestabilities and Tag Dies by Spellbinders; SU Corner Rounder; SU Taffeta Ribbon; Kaiser Rhinestones, DMC Embroidery Floss, Glue Glider, SU Dimensionals. (Southern Belle by Inka, the Long Rectangle Nestabilities and the Glue Glider are all available at Joan’s Garden.)
