Simple Pinecone Trio

Published by notimetostamp at 9:03 pm under General Purpose Cards, Papertrey Ink

I made this set of three simple thank you notes for one of my sons to use, and when I make cards for my boys I always have strict orders to keep them very simple and plain. I hope these fit that bill! We’ll see if the buttons evoke any comments — LOL!!! Once again I used my new autumn set from Papertrey Ink called First Fruits. I can certainly vouch for the versatility of this set — I have been so pleased with it!!! Here are the cards I made, hoping they are simple and masculine:

The top card was made earlier in the week for one of the challenges at SCS and I just made the bottom two. Very simple stamping, machine zigzag stitching around the main image, White Craft ink DTP’d on the edges for a wintery, frosty feel. (DTP means direct to paper — apply the ink directly to the paper with the pad). We definitely have had autumn in the air, but now today we are back to hotsummer, so it felt good to make these frosty, cool cards!!!

  • Stamps: First Fruitsby Papertrey Ink
  • Paper: PTI White, SU Cranberry Crisp, Confetti Tan, Always Artichoke
  • Ink: VersaFine Onyx Black, SU Close to Cocoa, Always Artichoke and Craft White
  • Accessories: Vintage Buttons, Sewing Machine, Thread, SU Photo Corner Punch, Zots

Hope you are all enjoying this long holiday weekend!!! Summer’s last hurrah!!! Thanks so much for stopping in!!! See you soon –

Hee hee my boys are the same, i just tell them to tell people your Mom made it. Then it’s ok, but no flowers, they draw the line at flowers.

    These are so elegant, perfect.

Sharon, I am sure this will please your sons. The burgundy, tan and green creates a very masculine feel to the cards and the embellishments you chose to use keeps that same mood. The pine cone stamps are terrific too. Great job!

Sharon, these are stunning! From a guy’s point of view of course! Thanks for the comment you left on my blog. You made me laugh out loud when I read the part about “cards that move or do something”. I was honored you left a comment. I’ve admired your work often and think you are so totally talented. Best, Curt

Gosh, Sharon, you’re going right to town with this set and everything you’ve made with it is absolutely wonderful! I simply love a card with a woodsy feel like this. One of my favorite kinds of cards! The colors and style are very masculine. Even the buttons are guy-type buttons, so in my book they pass muster. Love these cards!
