Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Blog Hop
Welcome to our first official BLOG HOP! So happy you came to hop along! The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Design Team has prepared some FAB projects for you to enjoy today, with the theme “Be True to Yourself” in mind.
Each of the Designers on this team was selected because of their own unique style. And that is what today’s showcasing of projects is all about — each designer was asked to create something they felt reflected their own personal style — what they love to create — to let themselves shine through their work in creating their favorite type of projects. So basically each designer had free reign to do as she pleased — and in my opinion, that’s when the BEST of each of us comes out.
Links to all the Designer’s Blogs will be at the end of this post, as will the instructions for entry into the Blog Candy being offered — please be sure to read all instructions so you have the best chances at winning!
And for my project today I wanted to do a trio of cards in a gift box. That’s what I have always loved to do the best — make coordinating cards with some sort of gift presentation, so today I decided on a quick and easy box. And my project doesn’t involve much stamping at all – just some pretty sentiments. That’s another true love of mine — just playing with pretty things, putting them together to create a pretty gift, without a whole lot of work involved! Here’s the full set:
The box is on the far left and the gift set contains 3 cards. With the exception of the cardstock and adhesives, all items used to make this project are included in the Stamp Simply Webster’s Pages Postcards from Paris Kit. These items are available to purchase as the Kit, or each item is also available to purchase individually. (The stamps are sold separately, linked below). I am so loving this paper pack — the colors, the designs — totally YUMMY and right up my alley! I’ve paired this paper with many coordinating ribbons and pearls in the Kit to make it easy for those who like things all put together for them!
Here’s the box filled with the 3 cards and envelopes. These are NOT traditional A2 sized cards. I’ve purchased the A2 envelopes for years from Wal-Mart. They had them in boxes called Invitation Envelopes. Well, about a year ago, Wal-Mart did a switcheroo on us. They still have what they call Invitation Envelopes, but they are no longer A2 sized. They increased the size to accommodate enclosing a 4 x 6 photo, which is great if you want to send a photo. Anyway, today I made this gift set of cards and box specifically to fit these larger Invitation Envelopes from Wal-Mart. The envelopes measure 6 3/8″ x 4 3/4″.
Here’s the fun detail on the box top. I used a Sentiment from Just a Note and framed it with a 2″ Wide Decorative Border cut and embossed with my Petite Circle Nestabilities by Spellbinders. All my ribbon is 100% Silk and the bows are all made on the Bow Easy. I used a Krylon 18 kt. Gold Leafing Pen around the perimeter of the box top decorative panel.
To cut the cards to fit these envelopes, I cut my paper 9 x 6 1/4″. Score in half at 4.5″ for a side fold card and you get a card that is 6 1/4 x 4 1/2″.
This is my first card. All the cards pretty much are made the same, but look different as each uses a different sheet of paper from the Postcards from Paris paper pack, offering a wide variety of paper designs and colors. And they are all very simply made, relying on the pretty paper and ribbon to give them their WOW! My sentiments are all by JustRite from a set called Just a Note. On this card I used the sentiment with a 2″ Square Frame, gold embossed with some Kaiser Pearls for accents.
Here’s the second card I made. This card has no added sentiment. I felt it didn’t need one as the design in the paper created its own sentiment — and I’m all about quick and easy, so I left good enough alone! Each of these cards used 1 full sheet of the 6 x 6 designer paper — NO waste at all. The largest portion of the sheet is on the card front (6 x 4 1/4″), and the cut off strip (6 x 1 3/4″) is on the card inside, shown below.
This is the 3rd card in the gift set. I again used Just a Note for the sentiment, in a 2″ Square Frame. I’m using my set of Square Nestabilities by Spellbinders to cut and frame my sentiments, and I’m using my Kaiser Pearls to add a bit of bling!
And here’s a shot of the insides of all three cards. You can see the strip of designer paper that was cut off. Easy, fun and you feel good using up that strip!!! All of my corner die cut accents are done with my Vintage Dies set by Cuttlebug (ProvoCraft), also available in the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

Your cards are gorgeous! I’m so bad when it comes to sending cards that I am thinking about starting to make my own instead of drooling over everyone elses! I feel so overwhelmed when I go into a card store and most are so impersonal. Making them yourself adds that little extra touch.
Smiles~
